Where the hell have you been. The macbook pro supplies have been short for a month now.
Does anybody knows how much Nerom chips cost?
That would be a good indication on what Penryn will be used on the MNP line. Here are the Penryn costs to compare :
The obvious would be X9000 - 9500 - 9300 for the mbp, 8300-8100 for the mp.
But since Apple might not update both lines right away, who knows...

some of you guys need to get a life, pronto. the update will never ever ever be as good as you're imagining, and you're all going to be disappointed. just move on and either buy a computer or don't. just don't put all your hopes, dreams and aspirations in the basket marked 'mbp update' because i predict a lot of unhappy people and a hundred 'when's the next update' threads.
people wouldn't expect so much at each update if they were updated a little more often...
But if we don't discuss the rumor's, what exactly is the point of the forum?

Is it worth waiting for integrated WiMax?
My latest pondering is weather or not it is worth waiting for montevina.... My main thought around this is that montevina will add in integrated WiMax or possibly a bto WiMax option. While WiMax seems to be a pretty early technology right now I think it is going to hit hard and fast in the next 6 months. I am sure apple or someone else will offer an external WiMax card, but those things are always so ugly and a pain. So the question is, is it worth the wait for WiMax?

Well, you gotta consider how long that wait is gonna be, also! True, Intel said June/July, but postponements are nothing new. I've heard people saying that Montevina could be as late as September for the MBP.
There's no way I can wait that long. My wait ends tomorrow, no questions asked.
Im 99% leaning this way as well, a quick search on the net and there arnt really any companies selling WiMax cards yet. I am sure it will go the way of WiFi and be a external card option before it is a common built in option. And there is no way I am waiting until September, F-That! So here is to hoping that tomorrow is the day.....
My thought on that is SDK was supposed to be released tomorrow and they were planning event, however SDK got pushed back, event canceled, silent release it is!
FYI - the old chip is Merom, not Nerom.
Prices are basically the same. Intel is phasing out the old chips and just replacing them with the penryn chips. They make more $ per chip at the same price since 45nm technology means they can make more chips from the same wafer in comparison to 65nm tech.
I think I am joining the tomorrow or bust crowd. If it doesn't happen, I will be dissapointed. I've been waiting since october, and watching this site during the whole time.
I do like the community feel of all of us waiting. I will shave tomorrow also, mostly because my beard grows in so poorly....I look like a folically chalanged chimp. Not something I need to keep showing my coworkers.

The day when these finally come out will probably feel like a dream. I'll have to refresh the Apple store page to see if they are actually still there. It's gotta happen someday.
