I am glad they gave the iPhones for review before Friday, because thanks to these quick reviews I decided to cancel my Pre-Order for the iPhone X. Going to see how the Face ID subject develops in the following weeks to then make a decision of going for it or waiting for the 2nd version of the product (which I am sure will bring Touch ID again).

Again, I must be the exception. There must be wide swaths of people who are constantly using their phones with dripping wet hands because they keep using that as their defense for touchID not working sometimes. I don't remember the last time I used my phone with dripping wet hands.

If my face is wet will FaceID still work? LOL!
You need to take into consideration that some people just have sweaty palms. Some more than others. Personally, my palms get sweaty frequently and Touch ID just doesn’t work for me when they’re sweaty. I always have to rely on manually inputting my passcode. I am honestly excited for FaceID even though its not perfected yet *although I’d say it seems to work fine 90% of the time*

Usually happens when I walk out of the gym on below zero to 20 degree day.

Must have been one of his failures.

His response.

That’s a good point. I didn’t notice how far from his face he was holding it when I watched his video.

never noticed before but it looks like the antenna bands are white. why? gross
...on the silver/white iPhone X, yes. Of course they are. What other color would they be? They are grey or black on the space grey model.

Face ID is inconsistent. That's what I keep hearing. That's why I didn't pre-order this year and that's why I'll wait. Maybe until the Xs phone next year. Production problems with the parts that make up Face ID that resulted in production problems with the overall production of the phone. Not surprising that there are reviewers having problems with it. Hopefully they get it it perfected by next year, or succeed in putting fingerprint ID under the screen by then.

Sound like it in the software not the hardware so it can be fix in updates I think! Stay tune! I sure Apple is probably pulling it smartest programmers to work on ironing out the bugs since there are alot of trolls and haters that Apple wants to squash!

No, according to interviews they will be abandoning Touch ID going forward. As well they should. The early reviews of Face ID are glowing overwhelming very positive. Basically with one lone exception and that person had all but abandoned their initial claims already.

and no Touch ID is gone for good

Where did he backtrack? I didn’t see any backtracking from him, just other reviewers saying they didn’t seem to have he issues.

Even if so, a first version of a product is always never as polished as it should be. And I am sure they if they can solve the Touch ID directly on the screen they will use it. I don't see a reason not to add it.

Canceling a pre-order based a person's perspective is exactly what it means. It's a simple "Let more people get the phone after release, do their respective reviews and feedback and based on that I may order it again or not".

Thanks, that looks interesting and I'm looking forward to it when my X arrives, but I meant specifically the screen animation that plays in the TV commercials with the "Best Friend" song that is on the Apple web page and playing during the World Series ads.
This is the same animation (shorter) as the YouTube posted in my other reply. According to Universally everything it is included with stock wallpapers.

eta: Found the YouTube version.

That’s not backtracking. He only said he had issues with it, and mentioned in there that he had issues with it. Where is the backtracking?
...yes, that is backtracking. He’s now claiming to have only have had two instances where it was an issue. Not to mention that also called it, “The Greatest iPhone Ever Made.” He clearly isn’t someone to take seriously. He obviously accomplished his real goal...clickbait.

I am sure that is the case. When I initially picked up a Microsoft Surface Pro earlier this summer. I thought that the face ID was crap and I was becoming increasingly frustrated with its inconsistency, particularly in bright light and dark situations. Between the devices recommended retraining in difficult lighting situations and OS updates, it now works pretty damned good. Surprisingly well.

I am confident that the initial inconsistencies will be worked out. It hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for the iPhone X at all.

you use it yourself and decide on that basis not some random reviewer. You have 14 days to return the device after all.

Give me a break. Your hands don’t have to be dripping wet in order for a touch ID to fail. At least for me and many other people, just a little bit of moisture left on your fingers after you wash your hands can cause a problem. Touch ID works great for me and I rarely have a problem. But to pretend that it’s 100% perfect and never ever fails or is inconsistent, is just silly. It’s not perfect. It doesn’t work 100% of the time for everybody. At times it’s inconsistent. For some people like my wife who have dry skin issues, it barely works at all.

If it never ever fails for you no matter what the circumstances, then good for you, but that’s certainly not the experience of most people.

"Most people". Lol!

It's a 1200 dollar phone. For that money I am expecting ZERO flaws and I already see some in the early reviews. Again, this may be just because these guys have 24 hours to review them and everything is very rushed on their side. But still I wont die if I get my iPhone in 2 or 5 weeks. :)

Well if Microsoft can figure it out, there is hope for everyone!
