List: Waiting for Montevina MacBook Pros

Everything points to 9/9. See the thread entitled:"just so everyone is on the same page"

Point 1. It was driving me crazy that page 42 hadn't been started yet... Douglas Adams deserves better (if you don't get that; you're either young or not well-read or both...)

Point 2. I've seen the thread; I've seen every thread. I've danced around a flaming chicken head and watched 7 episodes of "Charmed" trying to get some additional clairvoyant clarity. I'm all about 9/9 (A WEEK FROM TODAY) bringing a new MBP, but like I said, if not, I've already contacted the DMV about swapping out my SUV for a horse-drawn buggy and changing my name to something really catchy like Jedediah Samuel.

Point 3. Question: So, let's say they announce on 9/9. What's the anticipated lead time on shipment and actual delivery out of China given everything that's going on in the world? Thoughts?

It feels like I've waiting for ages!

I bought my PowerBook G4 and less than 4 months later they switched to Intel, so I've been waiting that long.

Thing is I'm moving to Orlando on October 5th (working for Mickey) - and I want to sell my PowerBook and buy a new MacBook Pro when I arrive... thing is, just saw the invite for the Apple Event next Tuesday, and I don't think a new MacBook Pro is going to be release.

I really don't know what to do now, sell it before I leave and just hope that it won't be too long before.

I cant take this anymore, Now there saying there might be something happening sept 9th with the MBP but most likely October, what if it isnt even true, and I wait and nothing special happens I really need a new laptop as I have started college, The current one is very good but what if the knew one is really good, Just tell us apple....TELL US NOW!!!

Sure, the MacBook hasn't been updated for some time, but I believe they might be updated in January, it would make sense, since Apple will probably want to use the new intel nehalem processors on the new MacBooks, I know for a fact that there won't be motherboards for these processors before october. I need to decide on the laptop to buy before October ends, so, taking these facts in consideration what do you think will happen?

According to reports Intel will release them in Q4.

It's a whole new design....that is supposed to yield a nice increase from current the Penryn's processing power.

That's what I'd like to get in the next Macbook Pro.

Yeah, we all know about Nehalem being the end-all be-all... it really is.

Nehalem means new chipset. You won't have Nehalem on Montevina; it's not compatible.

Waiting last year was a huge disappointment, look for next week's event to be all about iPods. People (myself included) are addicted to the NEXT latest gadget & technology. Ask yourself why you want to buy the machine, what applications are you using it for? Then go and get a machine that does the trick.

I put in my order & have the current model on its way. By the time Nehalem is actually out and Apple has worked out all the bugs I'll be ready to upgrade to it and it will be refined. Of course, by then the new latest greatest chip that blows Nehalem away will be just around the corner....

lol pretty patient guys. im a highschool student saving up my money to buy a quality laptop that i can do work (school work graphic editing music etc) and also play games on via bootcamp. and i finally have enough money. and i was going to buy one only to learn that there's going to possibly be a new update this month haha. it's killing me.

Haha to all you still waiting. I've decided to just settle with this Dell 1420, and decided to put my money in a new car stereo head unit, and probably just a new ipod when it comes out and when I make enough money to afford it - something I use pretty much all the fracking time. Though I wish I have a more powerful rig, I feel like the new computer hype is starting to fade...probably due to getting old and being in grad school and all.

I really do like the fact that I can throw this Dell around without caring too much...something I'm gonna miss if I get a MBP. Hmm...perhaps I'll get the next update in 2009. Hopefully it doesn't warp and stuff like the current one.

Well, it's good news for you because you won't have to wait for Mobile Nehalem next year. It's also bad news for you because you will miss out on Montevina that is coming out 2nd week of October. If Apple waits until next year to update, that would make the line over a year old. Not a good way to capture new business by selling year old technology.
