I love the news+ app. $9.99 for access for almost every single magazine at the newsstand, that's insane. That's less than the cost of a single paperback issue and it's for my whole household.
There is the cool little thing called the "internet" and it has all the content from those magazines literally the second said content is known. Just send me your $10 a month and ill send you a link to the internet. *hint* It's called Reddit.

The good news here is that iPhone remains the best phone out there, and you can subscribe to Netflix, enjoy Office 365, use gmail, subscribe to Pandora, and not have to use any garbage Apple services that you don't want. The bad news is that Macs aren't getting better fast enough.

So, in summary:
  • Apple is aggregating news form various sources, preventing their ads from tracking you, charging a fee and calling it a service.
  • Apple is essentially making their own branded credit card using Goldman Sachs as the issuing bank, but you can only use it where Apple Pay is available, otherwise you are out of luck.
  • Apple is setting up a "first of its kind" gaming service that is available on "all of your devices" that only works on Apple branded products and sounds suspiciously similar to what Google announced a week or so ago, except Google's version works on any device that can run Google Chrome.
  • Apple isn't setting up their own true TV service, instead they are aggregating third party TV streaming services, many of which are massively overpriced anyway and saying you only need to subscribe to what you want. Well with the services they are using, I end up with news and sports content that I don't want to be paying for. I truly want to be able to build my own bundle
  • Then they are adding their own original content as yet another subscription cost.

Hmm, Apple I think you have officially lost it.
Missing the point on some of these.
- You can use the Apple credit card anywhere.
- Google Strada is completely different. It runs the games in the cloud and you access from any browser. I don't believe it requires Chrome. Apple's announcing a subscription app package that lets you install apps on your phone for a monthly fee. Its like today's buying an app except its a subscription instead.

Apple Arcade = Fall
Apple Card = Summer/Probably Fall. UK date wasn't even mentioned???
Apple Tv+ = Fall

All seem like decent services but why the early announcement? Just announce it when it's ready.

Also most of this seems US exclusive.

I'm guessing it was Apple's intention to release everything today, but they hit roadblocks and delays with all their services. So they still held the event, but pushed out the due dates which is understandable if you look at the enormous tasks involved with what they are trying to do.

Ridiculous amount of negativity here. People pay for content - you might not, but most people do. People will love this long-term.

As a 25 year apple customer..it's been interesting watching them launch new products and services to capture new revenue streams. It obvious that they want to capitalize on the current 'install/user' base of a 1B devices...but it's interesting to watch them struggle. They want the recurring monthly revenue to have predictable cashflows..but they don't seem to know how.

They are smart to get into the financing business... they need to use their cash and have it work for them. This is exactly like GE capital, or GM...etc.

But video production? strange model. Why not build out a 5G infrastructure and wipe out the phone companies.?

Wow, a bunch of Apple Losers plague this forum nowadays, it's pretty sad. I love the news+ app. $9.99 for access for almost every single magazine at the newsstand, that's insane. That's less than the cost of a single paperback issue and it's for my whole household.
What's sad is your takeaway from what was probably the worst Event Apple has done, is you get cheaper magazines.

I just don't get it. Has to be by far the most uneventful Apple Keynote that I have ever watched;

- Apple News+

This is RSS-feeds for news all over again. Just that you can't really do this yourself anymore because everything is behind a paywall so if you want to read actual journalism you won't get getting it without a subscription and since RSS can't authorise your subscriptions this is what you get.

Doesn't look that bad, the family sharing is GREAT and all. But like everything else announced today, if you live outside the United States you are clearly not being prioritised by Apple any longer. Didn't look like this will be available for the rest of the World of a very, very long time.

- Apple Card

Perhaps the most interesting thing that got announced. Seems like a nice credit card solution which some huge privacy measurements in place that simply does not exists using regular credit cards.

In order to enforce this privacy you will be limited as it can only be utilised through Apple Pay but that's pretty much the only way for Apple to actually enforce it all so you can't really blame them. But the fact that it will require a Apple device and you will be limited to paying only using Apple Pay might reduce it value for some.

But the biggest problem, yet again is the fact that is US-only. Not living in the US? Well guess what, Apple is just going to ignore you when it comes to half the features and services they are currently focusing on.

- Apple Arcade

Good on Apple for trying to address what has become of the "free-to-play" market, especially for games that is all about trying to push users into paying nonsensical amounts of money using in-app purchases. How well this will work out is hard to tell. By integrating with Apple Arcade you as a developer and publisher are giving up on the hopes of earning the obscene amounts of money through in-app purchases so who will actually utilise this as developers?

I didn't really catch when this will be made available? And was there any geographical restrictions in place? I suppose this is the one thing from the Keynote that was actually relevant on a globale scale?

- Apple TV+

I don't really know what to say. It was obviously the centrepiece of the Keynote but we didn't really get to know much about the service did we? What content providers will I be able to subscribe to? How is the revenue/pricing model going to look like? When will we actually get the darn service? Besides having a bunch of celebrities up on stage talking vaguely about upcoming original content for the Apple TV+ service we didn't get much information or any meaningful at all?

They did mention it will be available in about 100 countries at launch, which means it going to be a global launch. But we have no clue if that's only for the original content, or will Apple be the first to solidify services like HBO Now, Hulu etc so it will be available on a globale scale?

The amount of time dedicated to this service and the several lack of any meaningful information regarding it and the fact that we seem to be 6 months away for hearing anything more it felt rather silly to dedicate such an event to talk about this.

Still no AirPower.

They haven’t made great hardware since 2012. They are trying everything to see what sticks these days but forget their core business.

I agree with you but I’m not sure about the 2012 timeframe. I do like the iPad pros and iPhones. However, I will say this, I sold the 2017 MacBook Pro that I both new. Went back to the 2015. Still hate the new keyboards. Never had one fail, just hate how they feel. My company will buy me new devices when I need them and I still want spend THEIR money on a new MacBook Pro.

So, is it just me or is Apple killing their Apple TV 4K hardware? I think they must be, even if by accident. I have a 4K LG TV with Dolby Atmos, HDR, and other great features. If Apple is porting their TV app to it, then why in the world would I ever consider buying their hardware? Same for Samsung, Sony, and Vizio owners.

Can't just kill off Apple TV if it is not going to be on LG 2017 TV models or Xbox One X which it should also be on it I mean even Apple Music but you know Apple vs. Microsoft but for some reason iTunes on Windows is fine (even though it sucks the life out of your notebooks CPU) either way Apple needs to stop limiting with the age of the product 2 year old product is not old.

Please bring back Angela Ahrendts. If that’s the future and mindset of Apple, she looks like the hard working gal in contrast in hindsight.

You could feel the cloud they have their heads stuck in together.

Let’s hope the :apple:Arcade gal gets it right with her service, looked like the only spark in that otherwise appropriately darkened room.

You're kidding. She didn't achieve anything and walked the plank.

Not ATV+.
Other services? Yes, probably.
ATV+? No. PEople will see the watered down lineup, and will call it a day and go back to Netflix.

But Jen said that they would be talking about things the way people only talk behind closed doors? How can they possibly water that down?

I’m liking the news+ for the family, I have no problem paying that.
No need for Apple Pay where we live.
Arcade didn’t click at all with me, doubt I would even trial the month.
ATV+ sux to have to wait, but I will definitely give it the month to hook me.
We only use Netflix now and welcome new content.
Wasn’t super wowed with the keynote as there’s only one thing to try, the rest is 6+ months off.

this presentation was one of the worst pieces of s*** I've ever seen. The celebrity jerk-off that took up over half of the entire keynote was nauseatingly pretentious and the content of the shows they were pushing sounded like lifetime movie material. Spielberg should not have attached his brand to this product, he's above the rest of these hacks trying to add to their millions.

No, nothing talked about is available now, most not until the fall. A very un apple like meeting. It was a waste of time.

Definitely a warning sign. It seems like like they are doing a Google and just throwing **** on the wall to see what sticks.

Available in fall, 3-month bundled with the ”new” iPhones to get you by automatic reneweal....

I think they saw the conversion rates on the Apple Music bundles and now feel like they can achieve the same with all these services.

The TV+ seems to be ********. Apple trying to convince people that they make the best series ever, but its kinda hard to believe when ”it’s coming this fall”. It’s actually not as simple as music streaming where you need the infrastructure, legal agreements and a half decent app...

I will probably watch the AppleTV app on our 4K AppleTV but will not pay for AppleTV+. For those who are discussing using the AppleTV App on a Smart TV , I suspect they will lose the Privacy feature, since it is built into our Apple devices. For that reason alone, using Apple products for streaming is preferable.

I agree that the celebrity content discussed sounds like a Lifetime channel with a side of "...let's all hold hands and sing Kumbayah". Seriously, who wants a lot of holier-than-thou celebrities virtue signaling to us about how we all should just do what they say (not what they do, e.g., purchase elite college educations for their children).
