The Apple TV transmits sound using MAGIC!

First try passing the HDMI through your receiver FIRST, then out to your tv.

If that doesn't work, we might be waiting on AVR manufacturers to release firmware updates to make it compatible.

Tick tock tick tock...

I personally like the new apple tv, and i think i might even preorder one. For MOST people its enough. The AVERAGE consumer won't be able to tell between 720p and 1080p. I however download most my movies, and will convert them to iTunes format, and stream them to the tv.

Didn't Steve say that the iPad will have ALL of the features of the new iOS including the new HDR capabilities. Is this an indication of a camera for iPad 2?

http://www.apple.com/ipad/software-update/ This page makes no mention of it, but Steve says it in the keynote. It is even indicated in the article for this thread on Macrumors.
Sneak peek at iOS 4.2 - "all about iPad". Brings everything to iPad....multitasking, folders, Game Center, HDR photos, wireless printing, AirPlay

You can't have HDR photos without a camera.

aTV price!

Whoaa!! Sorry apple...

$99 ≠ £99.
If we take current conversion, $99 = £65
Then add, say, 20% VAT (which is MORE than it actually is) = £78

This leaves over £20 of pure profit over the US model..

Ok I don't understand. People are saying the iPod touch can't take still pictures but on the apple website, it shows that it does. People are saying the rear camera is 1.3 mp. But it takes 720 videos. Can someone explain

"All rentals, no purchases, so no storage management. "

This is what Hollywood and Apple (and Amazon, and every digital distributor) really wants. They want to move to put an end to physical media, you will permanently "rent" your titles through a closed system instead of buying and downloading. In a few more decades, the industry will be able to say that there is no legal reason for anyone to "own" a copy of a movie or TV show, everyone will simply be streaming their content from an authorized source (which works just as well for ad-supported media, as well).

Or...You could buy on itunes and stream....

I just want to know. Even though video on the old Nano sounded cool in theory. Who was really watching it? My wife complains about video on the "tiny" ipod touch screen.

What I like is the new AppleTV will be able to play HD video shot on my iPhone or FlipCam without conversion to 24fps. This is super annoying with the current model and for me is reason enough to upgrade.

Might have to finally cancel the blockbuster version of Netflix and make that switch as well.

Here comes the usuall post event complaining omg no this no that no mac updates whah.:p

what are you crying about?

isn't the purpose of the forum to discuss, rant, complain, praise, or say whatever we like about the topic in question?

i could have said "insert fanboy love here, apple gets everything right!"

but i didn't, because that's not helpful :)

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple's adapted the AppleTV backend to iOS4 with the existing AppleTV UI. We may see widgets/apps as part of a future software/firmware update.

Also, if AirPlay kinda of integration between iPad/Atv (Assuming, it shares common iOS components) will work as an interactive display/presentation for retail Stores, real estate business etc.

Is it possible they haven't finished the software for it so they bunged existing atv on it?

It has A4 chip so it's ios ready in future. Plus stick a webcam in it's USB port for face time....?

I like the new iPods, altough I prefer the previous gen Shuffle, the Nano is pretty cool. iPod Touch is great having retina and facetime.

Ping is preatty interesting and I knew that something like that would have come!

I never had interest in :apple:TV but this time it looks very appealing both in price and solutions.

hmmm u will convert them ... why dont u just get a different box where u can just play them the way they were downloaded o_O

I don't want to join another social service. There are too many to keep track of already! I'm sticking to last.fm which works great. I don't care about what my friends listen to....

Would rather have seen performance improvements in iTunes 10...

I think Apple was asleep when it designed the UI for the new nano...just bringing the buttons over from iOS? That small of a screen should get a whole new UI, something only about music, as that's pretty much what the nano does. Touch controls looks a bit more cumbersome than using a click wheel.

The new iPod touches look great. Wish they had given some performance indicators on it, like are they as powerful as the new iPhone, etc (I know it's the same processor, but regarding RAM and so forth). And 3G would have been nice, but they look good. And the poor classic, it's still in the store, not updated.

Apple TV looks like about what I would have expected, a good deal for someone who doesn't already have a netflix device. Since I do, I'm not too interested.

Oh, and as for iTunes 10 (Ping)--why does that name sound familiar? Lol....I won't knock it till I try it but I was cringing as Steve was demoing it thinking over and over: this is the last thing the world needs.
