iPhone 5c off-contract 16G-$549, 32G-$649. Thats for plastic crap. Good luck selling this in China! :D

What did you expect, may I ask? A flying machine? the only thing they missed is prolly NFC (which I personally never cared for.its far away from wide adoption).

Something a little more enticing than a fingerprint sensor, which probably couldn't come at a more worse time, with all the security issues and stuff.

Yes, fingerprint technology has been around for a long time, but it has not been popularized in mainstream tech.

Come back to this post a year from now. All of Google's flagship phones will have fingerprint sensors and will be a key feature of their Wallet product.

You mean like we came back in a year or two and ios7 rips off Windows phone and android??

Meh, really not interested at all, I was thinking of the 5C to improve reception but as it's got a steel cage inside I guess that won't happen? Also it's ONLY £50 less then I paid for the iPhone 5 last year! It needs to be much much cheaper then that.
And as for the 5S, well Apple has been classic and has put the price of that up by £29 for the 32GB! They are now charging for the 64GB iPhone 5S £709 OVER SEVEN HUNDRED POUNDS!

Hmm I think I'll see what iOS7 is like, put up with the dodgy reception or change my provider. It's a damn site cheaper!

That's a cool $1000 for a phone that only has 64GB memory and no expandability. Talk about rip off.

My 3GS is immaculate. It's how you take care of it-or not.

Otterbox case? I cracked both the 3G and 3Gs bottoms near the charge port both on drops. Slippery fingers. I should invest in a durable case but I like the natural feel of the device without adding any bulky cases to it.

Its free with a new hardware purchase. So, I'm assuming, you'll get it free the next time you buy a new iOS device after 7 comes out.

WoW! That is stupid so this Media Even was just a waste of time and I thought iWorks was going to be free for everyone sorry not going to buy iPhone 5s when I just got a iPhone 5 maybe a 6 or 7 yeah I will just wait.

You're going to have to tell me how the emperor's new clothes are looking, because I'm clearly unfit to see them.

Do you whine about every new model of car that comes out too?

Ugh... still four wheels

Ugh... still has seats

Ugh... runs on petrol

Ugh... made of metal

Ugh... glass windshield

Seriously, phone market is maturing. The innovations are always going to be smaller year on year. What do you want, a pocket teleporter or something?

I think some of you need to look back 10 years and try to realise just how wonderful smartphones are. Just think about what you carry in your pocket and all the things it can do.

It's because they aren't. I don't want a phone that I can't use in one hand.. I already have a tablet.

More storage? You can already stream any content you want.

And unless you're in WiFi range all day, how can you do that with data caps on your plan?

smart business and marketing move ... 599€ for the one year old iPhone 5 in a cheaper to produce plastic case?

Exactly what I was thinking! And they claimed it's "hands-free production"! Just imagine the profit margin on those!

Apple lost this war when the kept the iPhone 4S as their 'free' phone.
The iPhone 5C should be their 'free' phone.

Ug.

How can they compete when you can walk into Verizon and get buy one get one free Samsung GS4???

Specs are up now, and it looks like the only spec difference between the 5C and the 5 is additional LTE bands. 5C comes in 5 models instead of the 3 models of iPhone 5. All 5 of the models cover more LTE bands than any of the iPhone 5 models.

The steel case IS the antenna!

The question I have is, with most people not even needing 64bit on their PCs, what use is it on a phone?

64bit has no significant use. Camera is barely improved. Fingerprint scanner so you save 5 seconds once a week or so when you buy something on itunes. Battery life stays about the same. Yeah, uninspiring.

The difference is that Apple knows how to make the most of the processor technology. In the X86 world, 64-bit has primarily been used so that apps can soak up more than 4GB. However, in the mobile world, that's obviously not an issue yet. But Apple can probably make good use of the new instruction set, and hopefully developers will as well, since they won't have the crutch of additional RAM.

As for the camera, I'd hardly call increasing the size of the sensor by 50% to be "barely" improving it. MOAR MEGAPIXELS is easy. A better camera isn't so. Battery life staying the same is an accomplishment given that they have significantly improved the processor.

The scanner is a big deal for enterprise. Many companies require their employees to use cumbersome "complex" passwords. My company is OK with the 4-digit code, but even that gets somewhat annoying when I'm trying to multi-task.

I like WTF I only payed £599 for a 32gb version last year guessing we will see £649 next year iphone 6 32gb version.

Looks like the campers at the Apple store were smart! No pre-orders for the 5S!!

Apple must want to bring back that line-up excitement!

Why ditch the iPhone 5 and keep the iPhone 4S with the smaller screen and old dock connection. That doesn't make sense to me.

4S was the second most popular phone for Apple which means people want that form factor. And the ecosystem for the 30-pin connector is still vastly superior to that of Lightning.

Its also easier/cheaper to manufacture.

The world's first 64-bit smartphone is nothing to sneeze at. That isn't a simple spec bump. Overall, this is a very solid update that will push technology forward. A7 and TouchID are going to force all other premium manufacturers to follow suit and compete.

It's nice but isn't going to make me rush out and buy a new phone. Smart phones are at a point cpu performance wise that for what they are used for by most users they are sufficient.

But then again smart phones and computers are in the later stage of their product cycle so I'm not sure there is many obvious enhancements anymore.

Seems like the biggest decision factor now is form factor and operating system/eco system (ios vs google/android ..., mac vs windows/google), open vs. walled garden type of eco system.
