Do you whine about every new model of car that comes out too?

Ugh... still four wheels

Ugh... still has seats

Ugh... runs on petrol

Ugh... made of metal

Ugh... glass windshield

Seriously, phone market is maturing. The innovations are always going to be smaller year on year. What do you want, a pocket teleporter or something?

I think some of you need to look back 10 years and try to realise just how wonderful smartphones are. Just think about what you carry in your pocket and all the things it can do.

Yea, and just think when you buy an iPhone today, you get to see what they will look like in 10 years too!

Well, that was disappointing. No 128GB and no wifi "ac". I don't think I've been so underwhelmed by a new iPhone as I am with the 5S.

So it's $549 off contract for the iPhone 5C - I'm really not sure why Apple has made this phone. If it was Nexus 4 priced at $349 I could see the appeal, but why would people buy an inferior phone to the 5S just to save $100? It's not worth it.

why didn't they just make the 5s with plastic option? thats what i would prefer.

Time to be honest with myself

Nothing in this announcement made me want to wait for a larger iPhone. I've also been thinking that even if Apple does release a larger iPhone next year, what are the chances that they would introduce some of the unique features of the Note 3/S-Pen type stuff? I'm anxious to try something different and really think I'm going to switch to a Note 3 now.

I'm impressed with the new specs, but kind of disappointed that so many rumors were true. It took a little of the oomf out of things.

For me, the rumors tempered expectations. If no rumors had come out, I would be more disappointed because I would have expected more. This time around, unfortunately I knew what was going to be announced.

This is a load of crap update from Apple...really Apple? An iphone 5C $100 discount from an iphone 5S? you got to be kidding me...I'll wait for iphone 6..thank you.

So the iphone 5c looks ugly as hell and the iphone 5s is basically an iphone 5 with a better cpu, motion sensors, camera and a fingerprint reader.

I'm not surprised by all the disappointment, dudes always want wow and this isn't wow (especially with all the leaks). But I am surprised by all the surprise. The way they've been doing it is whole number changes get major design changes (including screen size) and major new features. S changes get refinements (and remedies) to the design and features the year before, plus a few new goodies thrown in (think Intels tick tock approach), what we see today.

The cool part is that this coincides with the 2 year contract needed to get them. So if you prefer being an early adopter, go 3-4-5-6. If you prefer mature and ready, go 3s, 4s 5s, 6s. If anything's changed, its what Samsung has done, releasing individual additions as soon as they can be added, moving the timeline of expectations from 2 years to 6 months. The question then becomes, how long can Apple hold onto the 2 year model?

And unless you're in WiFi range all day, how can you do that with data caps on your plan?

I've got 10GB of data on my plan. Use iTunes in the cloud, Pandora, and GPS in the car all the time. I don't even have Wifi turned on, use LTE for just about everything because its much quicker, and I haven't even used more than 3GB in a month.

No 128gb like everyone wanted.

I wonder if they are planning to do the iPad move and come with a 128 GB version later halfway down the cycle or so ... Anyway, I'm disappointed that there's no 128 GB iPhone 5S. Everything else in this update is VERY solid.

Been on business-class laptops since '95. Not sure how "mainstream" you want...unless you're talking consumer-grade, which shouldn't need biometric security anyways.

I'm well aware of their presence on enterprise hardware.

I completely disagree that consumer technology does not require enhanced security measures. Our lives are increasingly unfolding in the digital frontier. If we can pair security with convenience, that is all the better.

I dont understand how Apple isn´t able to release this phone at the day of ennouncement, when everyone knows that it will be announced the fall of every year now. And, worst thing is that this year my country isn´t even on the list of countries that gets the phone the 20th...and all they say is within 2013. .what´s that about??? :O so the norwegian apple store will only sell the iphone 4s until xmas ?!? that´s completely retarded.

Actually, I think it's exactly the opposite, why would anyone want to waste $100 on the 5s, perhaps people with more money than sense? I think they've just reduced the price of the iPhone in the average consumer's mind, and it is the price of the iPhone 5c. Why would anyone (the average consumer will think) pay more than that for an iPhone?

No new tv or Mac updates at all? :( The stock is taking a bit of a hit too.

The stock price activity is perfectly predictable. It has hovered around $500 for the past few weeks. It ran up yesterday and is giving it back because Apple didn't "surprise" and the 5C isn't a $350 phone for China. I think some are a bit surprised that they kept the 4S as the "cheap" phone.

Macs and TV will come later. iPad will get its own event soon (maybe we'll see Apple TV), and Macs will ship when Mavericks is ready.

Overall, this event was mostly as expected. 64-bit was a slight surprise for me. I wasn't expecting it so soon.

iPhone 5C... C like Cheap... my A S S

in France, the iPhone 5 is sold 629€ for the 16 GB

now the 5C is sold at 599€

same hardware, they only replace the alu by plastic, saving much more than 30€

it's not cheap, it's even more profitable for Apple !!!!
