I'm not surprised by all the disappointment, dudes always want wow and this isn't wow (especially with all the leaks). But I am surprised by all the surprise. The way they've been doing it is whole number changes get major design changes (including screen size) and major new features. S changes get refinements (and remedies) to the design and features the year before, plus a few new goodies thrown in (think Intels tick tock approach), what we see today.

The cool part is that this coincides with the 2 year contract needed to get them. So if you prefer being an early adopter, go 3-4-5-6. If you prefer mature and ready, go 3s, 4s 5s, 6s. If anything's changed, its what Samsung has done, releasing individual additions as soon as they can be added, moving the timeline of expectations from 2 years to 6 months. The question then becomes, how long can Apple hold onto the 2 year model?

Shame Canada won't get behind the times. We're still stuck with 3 year contracts for now which means our cycle is completely ****ed and we're stuck with out-dated tech.

the 4s has to take the cake

True, but the 128GB on the 5S was almost expected. Didn't some coders find a reference in the iOS 7 code for a 128GB iPhone model? Plus, more than one "insider" predicted 128GB too. Too bad, that was my main target.

As for the camera, I'd hardly call increasing the size of the sensor by 50% to be "barely" improving it. MOAR MEGAPIXELS is easy. A better camera isn't so. Battery life staying the same is an accomplishment given that they have significantly improved the processor.

Thank you.

A concept so many Android fanboys cannot seem to grasp. 8,452 MP doesn't make it a good camera. It means you can take a really big, terrible picture. The SENSOR is what matters, both in a phone and in a DSLR. There's a reason a Canon 1D is night-and-day better than a crop-sensor T3i.

The scanner is a big deal for enterprise. Many companies require their employees to use cumbersome "complex" passwords. My company is OK with the 4-digit code, but even that gets somewhat annoying when I'm trying to multi-task.

Also, this. We use a 5-digit passcode. I enter my code no less than 30 times a day, even with changing my auto-lock settings to be as liberal as we're allowed to do. A quick scan of my finger is going to make my life a hell of a lot easier... especially if Siri plays nicely with Touch ID. Right now, using Siri is pointless as half of the functions require the passcode to access.

Yaw - Ya - YAAWWWNNNN!! - wwwn - wnnn

Excuse me, sorry. I couldn't help yawning while I was yawning in the middle of a yawn.

No AppleTV announcements?
No iPod / iMac / iAnythingElse updates?

I feel like I just got a sweater and a tube of toothpaste for christmas.

I just love how they replaced the fantastic, and still running strong iPhone 5, with an overpriced plastic piece of crap. I guess Apple realized they weren't making enough money off selling the most recent model and wanted a higher profit margin. Good thing I have a 5 and will be keeping my 5.

the UnEvent

They didn't even have a real phone to show anybody. No live IOS 7 and no iPhone 5C and no iPhone 5s. What crap. Its all vaporware.:(

What about the material? Did they at least change the material for the casing?
I have a 5 and I will certainly not buy a 5S with "only" a7 64bit if it scratches as easy as the 5.

Very disappointed there weren't any game controller manufacturers invited to join Tim onstage, really looking forward to those coming out.

5C is nice, but the price is a rip off. Even if i'm not a billionaire 100 bucks is not a world shattering sum of money and i would get 5S (contract free).

So, No Surprises :(

I guess we pretty much knew everything before it was anounced.

I was hoping for two things:

128GB 5S

&

1080p Screen (even at the same size).

But I'm happy and will be getting my 64GB Black and Grey 5S next friday!

they should have included flavors into the plastic, so that i can smell better when the case will start melting as the battery is getting warm / burning the phone :D :D :D

Yes, for such a plasticky cheap phone, the price is way too high.

Apple's stock, once again takes a beating. Unfortunately we have to wait another year for Apple to try to get things right with iPhone 6.

.

I should have dumped my apple stocks too. I mind was telling me that Apple won't be the same ol Apple this year but my heart was telling me that they'll surprise us this year. They did surprise us but all in the wrong ways. I had every single iPhone released up to this point but not this year!

AAPL now down 2.5%.

This is typical buy the rumor sell the news pump and dump. Unless Apple announced some big surprise, this was almost guaranteed. I sold all my shares at $500 a few days ago planning to buy back in later. I hate the fact there isn't a larger phone yet, but Apple still makes great products.

I don't play a lot of graphic intensive games on my iPhone, so realistically the performance improvements will make the OS a little bit smoother. Even though the processor is twice as fast, it's not going to make the UI twice as smooth/fast.

So I really see little benefit in upgrading. Twice as fast, but OS only a little smoother; iPhone 5 already really smooth. Same storage size. Improved camera; iPhone 5 camera already excellent. Fingerprint sensor; slightly more convenient than a passcode, but obviously much more secure. M7 chip which lets apps know when you're running/driving/walking, but they can presumably already do this by making their own calculations, this just makes it easier?

I can do without this upgrade easily! I'll feel less guilty buying the Xbox One at xmas now that I won't be forking out for a new iPhone :D
