First keynote I fell asleep too. Sorry Apple, as a long and big time fan, I was not entirely impressed.

As someone who bought all of iLife and iWork for Mac and iOS and has supported .Mac/MobileMe for years, I feel cheated that you are now offering it for free and not even offering anything to existing customers. Heck, I'd be happy with a $20 iTunes credit.

Wait... So 4S still available but not the 5? ffffffffwhhaaaa?

That's my logic. We're left with the options of expensive (5S) cheap and plastic (5C) or horribly outdated (4S) and yet they remove a phone that was top of their line yesterday.

From a business perspective I understand dropping the 5 but certainly not keeping the 4S and from a personal perspective I hate both. All I wanted was a metal iPhone without paying $200 but I guess to do that I have to get an out-dated one or pray my provider gets some information on 5 stock clearance.

I could see a lot of folks are

on this keynote

This is a load of crap update from Apple...really Apple? An iphone 5C $100 discount from an iphone 5S? you got to be kidding me...I'll wait for iphone 6..thank you.

Yes, for such a plasticky cheap phone, the price is way too high.

Apple's stock, once again takes a beating. Unfortunately we have to wait another year for Apple to try to get things right with iPhone 6.

.

How many of these disappointing spec bumps do we have to go through before Apple is actually really forced to do something interesting. Fingerprint scanner is nice and all, but unless your contract is coming due, and you have a 4S or lower, AND you absolutely have to have an iPhone, there is no reason to choose the 5S over a plethora of better phones out there like HTC One, S4, Note III, Moto X, Lumia 928 or 1080, just to name a few. And then to STILL start at 16Gb and keep charging $100 extra for upgrade to 32Gb. Sad really, and probably the last nail in the coffin as I'm moving away from once an Apple-only household. I know I'm not the only one as I see it all around me. Every year the hope builds just to be shuttered by another mediocre update. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple ends up the way of Palm or Blackberry - once a must-to-have, now gone or soon to be gone because the time has passed them by and they couldn't do anything new or innovative.

The world's first 64-bit smartphone is nothing to sneeze at. That isn't a simple spec bump. Overall, this is a very solid update that will push technology forward. A7 and TouchID are going to force all other premium manufacturers to follow suit and compete.
The vast majority of smartphone usage is RAM capped, not processing capped. 64-bit makes the RAM-cap problem worse unless the device actually has more RAM than what can be addressed with just 32-bits.

And iOS is already notorious for RAM shortage problems. (Due to the rather limited amount devices have shipped with)

Well that was underwhelming. Only notable features are the fingerprint scanner and slow mo camera. Price is the same, colors are crappier, no storage increase. The CPU/GPU upgrades are meaningless if you don't play taxing games. I was hoping for NFC at least; fingerprint scanner and NFC seem perfect for each other.

I guess your holographic 3D projection screen will have to wait until the iPhone6.

I wish they would have gotten rid of the iPhone 4S and replaced it with the plastic thing. Then kept the iPhone 5 and added the iPhone 5S.

Today's Un-Event

Wow...how very sad and unimpressive. This is the worst presentation ever given by Apple. What the hell have they been doing for the last year? Steve is sorely missed. I am still yawning.....:(

For all the people who think this is a lame update, don't update, don't buy a new phone. Best way to tell Apple you're unhappy with them is with your wallet. :)

C'mon, you know how it is around here, folks would just rather come here cry, moan, and complain in every other thread before they do that....

Is touch id safe?

Does this open doors for bad guy unlock your phone by copy your finger prints left on iPhone touch screen?

The keynote mention it reads "sub-epidermal skin layers". What does it mean? Does it mean the layer under the skin which is different then the top layer? So, your finger prints can't be used to unlock the phone?

Can anyone explain this? Thanks!

Ohh let me go download twitter 64bit version and load 64 bit fb app.

Man I've had a 64bit PC and honestly can't name a single 64bit app I'm using.

The purpose of 64 bit is also to use more then 4gb ram also and we won't see iOS using 6gb of ram for about 5 years from now.

Yeah apple was the first to use a 64bit CPU but there is zero need for it

Nothing more than "bragging" rights and spec shouting as if it matters to most users. Most who won't even understand what that will or won't do for them. Just like advertising more megapixels. Most people are sharing photos electronically - they don't really need anything over 2mp in a camera as long as it's got a decent sized sensor. over 3.2 megapixels and your now talking about prints 8x10 and higher. So 8MP and up are really for huge poster prints. How many average joes are using their iPhone (or Android) cameras for poster prints?

Heck - most home computers are incredibly over spec'd for the average user who just surfs the net. But every year we get faster this and bigger than and it's marketing as MUST HAVE!

Waiting for iPhone 6. 5" screen + NFC with fingerprint capabilities. I'll kill time with Nexus 5.

Switching to a Verizon Share Plan (saving me ~$70/mo leaving AT&T) and planned on a 5S. Even trade or more at Best Buy with my 5. Hoped for a "one more thing" NFC surprise (use it a lot out of North America on other devices). FFS, they had 5 prototypes w/ it, but bailed when banks didn't acquiesce to Apple's % take on NFC purchases.

Instead, we get a "Motion Coprocessor" for Health and Fitness Tracking. Accessories do this already although they fail to properly measure stat's as the "Nike Band" should be on the ankle not the wrist (unless you're waving while you run, or partake in a lot self pleasure).

Just, no.

Siri its also on 5C.
Because 5C its a plastic 5.
Thats good for me,really.
No NFC on 5S,does it matter to you?
What it really matters to me is the 64bit A7 because maybe this
makes more realistic to have an Ipad mini retina with an A6
and Ipad 5 with the A7,even if i would like to see a mini retina
with A7 but i don't expect to see it..this year.
Last thing.
How much Ram do 5C/5C have built in ? 1GB?
