Its not just the the display... the software is the same.. which is ironically is what needs the most help in my eyes.

I hate how people are just satisfied with eveything apple puts out.

"Who needs LTE"
"Who needs HDMI"
"My Ipad is fast enough"
"Multitasking is great is saves battery life"
"Apple loves me"

All these dumb talking point that apple workshipper spit out in order to justify that they are paying a premium for last years tech.

Then they always have the nerve to spit on other competition without any real facts... or a bunch of spin on the truth.

Why shouldnt we expect more from apple??

You miss the point... with Apple it's not just about one thing, it's about the system as a whole... hardware and software.

Also... big deal... no iOS5. I'm glad. They just did 4.3. I hope they take their time and do something really cool in June at the WWDC.

BTW... an Apple advantage... you actually get updates to the OS and not abandoned. Something the competitors still have to show they will do.

When new applications come out taking advantage of the ipad2s hardware that either don't run or run poorly on ipad1 people will upgrade. Just think if a new version of Angry Birds came out only able to work on ipad2. People would riot in the streets.

You still have the same iPad running the same iPad apps you had five minutes ago. You'd rather Apple not come out apps that are optimized to run on the new hardware?

I guess they want everyone to line up at Apple stores the night before instead of preordering. To be honest though, I find it really fun to line up at the Apple Store.

i have to say, i'm a tad surprised about what wasn't mentioned. I didn't expect any confirmation of that whole "Joint Venture" business. But what about MobileMe. When they said the storage was the same I expected them to mention MobileMe improvements as a way to offset storage needs. No need sync tons of music when you can stream your whole library. improved idisk for documents etc. But nothing.

I don't know what I'm going to do. I love my current iPad and have so much invested in it. I'm going to see if I can wait another year (odds are against me).

Wow, I'm really impressed with the update! Wasn't expecting a screen change, just cameras and speed bump but the move to dual core was a great surprise! Design looks great, thinner and lighter is awesome, plus the hdmi out will be really useful for me, especially if theres a cheaper 3rd party adaptor?

This is really more of an iPad 1.5 instead of an iPad 2. Just like others have said, not the leap we saw with the iPhone 4. More of the leap we saw with the iPhone 3Gs.

New cheaper price in uk

NEW CHEAPER PRICE IN UK

no way the ipad is way cheaper £329 for the 16GB version, £399 for 32GB and £479 for 64GB this is unreliable

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Aren't they the old ones before the new ones released end of March?

yeah I meant the old ones thats why I typed iPad (not iPad 2) still £100 drop off all models on the original iPad is pretty cool. Pretty crap for me though if I ever wanted to sell mine :D

But I dont so im good but anyone who was planning to sell theirs on ebay now good luck!!!!!!! trolol but yeah bit sucky for them

Hopefully the iPad 3 will enjoy a retina display. This is a logical progression but I would really liked to have seen the retina display.

I'm sure Apple are working on it.
If Apple continues its "one big feature per version" strategy, more like on iPad 5.

minor upgrade? look at what's going on under the hood, not everything has to be cosmetics, mate.

3g over hotspot for iphone 4 users-- will this be an extra charge from unlimited data?

Assisted GPS
was the GPS unit on ipad1 assisted like the ipad2? so what would happen if I bought one without the phone service? would I still be able to use the GPS unit?

I have to admire the way Apple expert marketing techniques can make a minor update like this seem like the the greatest thing on earth. Really, I'm in awe of their marketing. It certainly works on this forum.

+1

Amen to that. No wore they came up with the term Reality Distortion Field (RFD)

...so long as you're aware that's for the 1st generation iPad so that they can clear stock?! European prices have dropped too.

Sooo, they are pretty unclear whether or not garageband will work on older iPads.

iMovie without a camera is iffy, but there is a mic on the gen 1 iPad.

Will that seriously be the case if you want to get one @ the store? I wouldn't mind giving it a try, but I don't want to wait in line for 4+ hours.
