So the "Personal Hotspot" is for Iphone 4 users, right? So I don't have to jailbreak my phone which I was about to do soon. Just want to confirm this! Also, do you think they will charge extra? I have an Iphone 4 and just recently bought a MBP and always wanted internet on my MBP while on the go.

Can anybody answer this one for me?

There's no mention of RAM anywhere on the website. I have very high suspicions of 256mb of RAM still and possibly underclocked processor.

he kept stressing 2011 as year of ipad2, as if addressing that there wont be an ipad3 this year

kind of disappointed with this event. all they did to the ipad was give us a larger ipod touch 4g, literally. all the same specs, minus the retina display. they showed a few things about 4.3 and then a few new apps.

then that was it.

i should stay away from these rumor sites, they got my hopes all up for this kinda thing. so are we just going to hear about iOS 5 in june??

when can we actually preorder? i wish they would've been more specific about that, they just said they're available on march 11. well i don't want to spend my friday in line all day. goddamnit.

what did you expect? the current ARM tech is probably not powerful enough to push higher resolutions and the screens are probably too expensive

Sorry but that mayhem I will not be part of.
I much rather wait few days and get it at home. Just hate that zoo when products are launch. Not worth it IMO.

Same here. I had my credit card ready and waiting. Being a long time MacBook Air users, I skipped the first iPad (even though I'm usually an early adopter). However, this one looks like a decent upgrade with the better graphics, cameras, and dual core processor. It looks good enough to take on the Xoom and hold its own against whatever else HP, RIM, or Samsung come up with this year.

There are a possible 5 HW improvements in that list. Don't kid yourself.

Secondly, if people don't want to buy it...then don't! There are other products out there. It's like people are complaining about it, and then begrudgingly buying the damn thing. Grow up and go elsewhere, it's a free market.

I agree with Jobs, it's not just about tech. It's everything else too. If ALL you care about are headlining tech specs then you're not in the market for an iPad.

As I didn't buy iPad 1, this looks like it's going to be my first iPad.

Dude, I am not saying I or you shouldn't buy it. I was talking about long term health of Apple. Apple needs many parts other tablet makers make. Shouldn't that be a cause for concern for Apple? I'm talking out of concern for Apple as a stock (albeit tiny) holder.

Does anyone know if the US iPad will be locked to AT&T or would you be able to use it with different carriers in, say, Europe?

This must be coming from someone who doesnt have a xoom? The Google Experience tablet is FAAAAR more intergrated than the Ipad and ios.

A XOOM with 1ghz Tegra 2, 1gb of ram, 32gb + microsdhc... 2 cameras..HDMI out, LTE +3g is only $70 more than the equivalent iPad 1 and 2.

You were saying?

Bolded made me laugh hard. Nice one Tyrone Biggums.

Xoom did get some really.....average reviews. Motorolla FTW!

Me and you both. I can't stand that fake high fiving nonsense.
You sure you don't wanna go? We could queue up over night and post pics of us sitting on the floor holding hands in the forums. :D

Its not just the the display... the software is the same.. which is ironically is what needs the most help in my eyes.

I hate how people are just satisfied with eveything apple puts out.

"Who needs LTE"
"Who needs HDMI"
"My Ipad is fast enough"
"Multitasking is great is saves battery life"
"Apple loves me"

All these dumb talking point that apple workshipper spit out in order to justify that they are paying a premium for last years tech.

Then they always have the nerve to spit on other competition without any real facts... or a bunch of spin on the truth.

Why shouldnt we expect more from apple??

Where does the software "need help" it still has more polish than its nearest competition. It does hdmi now, they doubled the processor, massively improved the graphics speed, made it thinner and kept the same price structure. BTW LTE isn't available in any other tablet right now either, even the xoom that announced it like it was a feature is going to have add it with a hardware revision that will require the user to send it back to motorola...assuming motorola actually keeps its word and doesn't slowly back out of the "free upgrade".

Last years tech? So what from "last year" beat the ipad? Most of the features I hear haters spouting as necessary are the same crap that created bloated and nearly unusable tablets in the mid 2000's, HP, Compaq, Fujitsu and Motion Computing all tried them and all failed spectacularly...the market for the all-in-one desktop experience on a tablet is a paper tiger, they all talk about it but none them buy them.

Sdhc

While a res bump would have been nice I was hoping that Apple would play nice with an external media source / usb / sdhc. Not having a direct and compatible way to bring media in except through sync or over wifi is troubling. You can jailbreak the device for a lot better integration of the camera kit but I had some hope of being able to use the device a little broader than before.

Oh well. I'll nab one since I've been waiting. Bought one for the parents not too long ago and loved how it changed my media-consumption methods (before prying it out of my hands to give hehe! :p )

There is a lot of good competition out there and I can only hope we continue to see a nice shakedown and internalization of new thoughts into our next gen devices. The only real thing that would be nice is if apple would be more open and less closed but I've desired that for a long time, no longer surprised but always disappointed.

dumbbbbbb

Nothing does lol. This is a weak release by apple. I expected more.
Xoom is only 2 megapixel camera up front, only has 720p Playback, Android is an absolutely shattered OS thats more flakey than Charlie Sheens coffee table, and also has no set syncing software. Xoom is crap its just another iPad wannabe like all the others. We wont see retina display sadly, because why would apple lay all their cards on the table when the competition hasnt even caught up with the first gen ipad? just like the 3gs not getting a front camera... simply because they didnt have to yet so they save it for the next gen model. :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

Hopefully, it's also the year of the Sandy Bridge MacBook Air. :)

An annual cycle should be sufficient for the iPad.

A MobileMe update is inevitable. Steve said there would be changes. They don't build monolithic data centers in NC for nothing. The current offering is an embarrassment and Steve knows it.

Anyways, nice. A camera on the front for FaceTime. That's all I wanted.
