So let me get this straight. You've basically delivered a lackluster "mini" version of the iPad (no A6, no retina display, 5MP camera) and made my less-than-one-year-old ipad 3rd gen "old tech".

Thanks for nothing Andro...Apple.

LOL at Tim Cook saying that "we promised 2012 would be a year filled with innovation and we think we kept our promise"

What innovation? Everything one or more of the following: higher resolution, thinner, lighter, faster, remove optical drive, change connection port

Basically a year of spec bumps ... what innovation has there been since the iPad and iPhone 4 design?

Not attacking you or anything, but what would you liked to have seen as an innovation that can actually be used now? What are the missing features from the iPhone5, the iPad 3 or 4? What is missing from the iMac or Mac Mini?

So at this point we can all agree apple is becoming evolutionary instead of innovative.

Not really. Even under Steve Jobs there were only 3 completely new product category releases in 14 years (iPod, iPhone, iPad). It's unrealistic to think that Tim Cook would be introducing a completely new category in under 1.5 years.

The entry into textbooks early this year is significant and innovative.

Alright, who's buying me an iMac... Or better yet, who's buying my iMac off of me so that I can grab one of those babys?!!!!

Well - as long as the mini's screen looks good in person my plans are the same as they would've been.

Get an LTE iPad mini for christmas (32gb) and use as my primary mobile tablet.
Sell my iPad 3 LTE 32gb and buy an iPad 4 64 gb wifi only.

My mid 2011 iMac will continue to serve me well :D

Someone is going to get fired. And somebody else is going to have fun posting a new blooper reel to Youtube.

No one will get fired, Apple is a technology company. It improves every minute of everyday! Want to wait a year? Decade? Microsoft is here for you...

There are plenty of things that make the iPad superior to the Nexus 7 and competition. Even at an $80 premium (currently $249 for 16 GB N7). If the mini screen doesn't cut it - I just won't have a 7 inch tablet.....the N7 didn't cut it for me.

Such as?

This does suck. When I update my late 2009 iMac in the not too distant future I will get the previous generation model that still has a built in optic drive

When are you upgrading a 2009 iMac? You are going to go to the 2011? I suspect not. You will buy then current technology and a $30 external optical drive or maybe a fancy looking $100 external drive from Apple.

Steve was soooooo much better at presenting new products. Just going back and watching some of his presentations on Youtube makes you realize it. He had a way of speaking that really kept the audience engaged and when he talked about how new and incredible everything was you could tell that first and foremost he believed it (or was at least really good at giving that impression), even if in reality it wasn't new and incredible (kind of like most of today's updates). These guys (Phil, Tim, etc.) come off as so boring and flat. Steve convinced you that you wanted and needed the latest products. And I'm not a Steve Jobs fanboy/worshipper by any means. I just think he was made these presentations exciting. As it is now I couldn't care less if they just made press announcements and released the new products in the store.

Of course you are a worshipper, why else would you write down this desperate trash? And is that what you need? Someone who presents you something as new if in fact it is not new? Come on...
I didnt miss Steve Jobs even for a second during this presentation.
I guess most people didn´t think about Steve at all.
And I speculate that some people at Apple are glad he is no longer around blocks good inventions (like iPad mini).

First time Apple has ever discontinued a product but still sold one of an older version. As in:
Discontinued iPad (3rd generation) but still selling iPad 2.

And another point.
Hope this does not become reminiscent of the Gil Amelio or John Sculley days and the Newton. Jobs came in in 1997 and killed off so many Apple product lines to have a smaller but more focused product like up. A smart idea. Just hope Cook and co are not doing the opposite of this and making a bad step for Apple.

I still think a in between sized iPad (ie between iPad standard and touch) is a bad idea. Now I have to think too hard. Do I want a iPad standard or a Mini or a Touch? I can't say I know the answer to this question anymore. Apple just made finding the answer a whole lot harder today.

And on another note, I believe Apple just killed the disc drive today. Seems I'll have to buy a external disc drive when I upgrade one day to a new iMac. Even still with that aside I think the new iMacs are amazing.

Oh, I just asked about that. I wasn't looking so closely and didn't see that they kept the iPad 2. It makes little sense. Well, other than the profit they're making.

It's just a Seagate Momentus XT. They've been around for years.

What total and utter nonsense.

Seagate Momentus XT = 4 GB SSD.
Fusion Drive = 128 GB SSD.

Seagate Momentus XT = low intelligence read cache. No improvement at all when writing data.
Fusion Drive = MacOS X decides intelligently what data goes where.

Sort of defeats the purpose of an 'all-in-one', doesn't it?

An "all-in-one" for what particular audience, exactly? Your definition is obviously different than mine. The iMac without an ODD will certainly carry my work from day to day without a hitch. Therefore, it is certainly still an "all-in-one" to me. Apple has to go with trends, and the current trend is a decline in use of optical disc technology.
