That $10,000 watch is going to sell like crazy and the best thing is they will be able to sell an upgraded version to the same person again next year.

I thought my LG G Watch R was plenty expensive at $299 so Apple is going very bold and cocky on these prices. I'm sure people will charge up their credit cards and they will sell millions of them, but what an overpriced gadget.

Crazy high prices across the board.

You're right, people will. Business is business, even if that means it's overpriced.

NO clap for the SS watch prices!

Hardly a surprise. Even Apple isn't pretending it's somehow a good deal, it's meant as a seriously OTT luxury item.

Remember the clapping & whooping comes from Apple employees in the audience mainly. It would be a pretty awkward thing to clap.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

the emperor has new clothes on... and they cost 10 GRAND ! :D

People get mugged for their phones all the time....can you imagine the gold iWatch?

I doubt the gold Apple Watch has any resale value, except for the band and solid gold (which any gold watch has anyway).

The Apple Watch probably won't turn authenticate when put on another person.

All the negativity. Sheesh. It's ok though the plunge protection team will be all over the threads soon and "everybody"will be all glow about all the fabulous new products!!!

Do they really think they'll sell many of the editions at $10,000?

I'm curious what the markup is over the value of the gold.

1. Not many, but enough.
2. If you are curious about the markup, you are not the customer for the gold watch.

I gotta say.. it proved all those wrong who claimed the Gold edition would have upgradable internals..

But I really like the Apple software, will need to play around with one myself to get a feel for it. But I think they've done it right, looks a lot better then Android anyway.

"This is what Apple is all about" ???

Really?

In 1984, it was "The Computer For the Rest of Us."

Now, thirty years later, it's apparently "The Gold Watch for the 1% of us."

So true.

Even expecting people to spend upto $1.1k for a SS is insulting given the pricing of android wearables.....

Feel like I just wasted 1.5 hours of my life.

Disappointing keynote. :(

$1000 for the SS model? I'll take a new Macbook 12", thanks.

Impossible to justify anything but the lowest model when we all know they'll be obsolete in 1-2 years. Just foolish.

Fail overall. :(

:apple:

I am fearing that. Unlike many others who have been running around like the sky is falling, I think almost all of the current hardware/software is pretty darn good. However, I think the watch is a mistake.

I've a feeling Tim Cook will get the boot off the CEO chair. Eventually. Smart guy but not the right one to get Apple on track.

The 10k price is a huge mistake. Especially for a watch that doesn't upgrade. Or any other model.

Won't be cancelling my new Garmin pre-order then. I'll have a nosey at them in my local apple store in probably about 6 months. Can't see me getting anywhere near them before that (the MK store is pretty small, when we've done the summer camps, customers are tripping over the kids doing their filming, etc lol)..
Personally can't justify that sort of money, as let's be honest, it'll be $=£ pricing...

18 hours which they class as all day.

18 hours is about right. You get up at 6 am and it lasts until midnight. That is typically considered all-day.

I'm not saying it's great. It would've been better to have it last beyond from 6 am - 6am.

The Apple Watch is not useful enough to warrant those prices. It's not something I can see myself buying any time soon. Apple should have stayed out of this market, in my opinion.

If even Apple can't make the smart watch useful enough, I dread to think what competitors ones must be like. I imagine the Samsung smart watch is a train wreck but clearly far cheaper. Right now, I feel like the Pebble is about as far as smart watches should have gone. They'll take advantage of this and make sure their products continue to be affordable and desirable.

No talk whatsoever (no surprise) over updating/upgrading paths.

It *IS* entirely possible that every year or two you'll see a new model and the one you bought is slowly put out to pasture.

Now - I do think that a watch OS is probably easier to maintain updates than a full phone OS - so software wise, it might be less of an issue. But we'll see

Ahahah, Tim asked the audience to stand up, most of them didn't. Not too long ago people gave standing ovations without being asked to. What does that tell you, Tim?

There probably will be a few, but at that price it is a pretty limited market that is more likely to go for a high quality traditional watch rather than buying a ridiculously overpriced wrist computer that is going to only be worth the scrap gold value in a couple years.

Exactly!
