I hope there will be an option to turn off that force-feedback track pad in order to extend the battery life in the new Macbook Air. The new MB Air 2 has 35% more battery capacity, combined with a slow, 5 watt Core M chip but loses 2 hours of battery life due to the Retina display.

I wish Apple would have gone the opposite direction, and kept the clickable trackpad with no force-feedback and not made the new Macbook Air so slim so that they could retain a larger battery. I thought Apple was going to increase the new Air's battery life, or at least retain the 12-hour battery life. I'm shocked that we are going to lose 2 hours of battery life instead.

If I could see a purpose, $349-399 is not too bad. As a runner, I want to carry ONE device. No GPS is the biggest drawback for any sport edition.

Did he mention it's water resistance? I don't remember.

I'm sure the Watch will sell well enough amongst Fashionistas and Tech nerds, but it's hard to see Apple turning it into a mass-market product at these prices.

It will sell to the same crowd that pays $1200 for a Macbook when they could get a similarly spec'd Windows laptop for $500. You still don't get it yet do you? Its not about money.

They fainted?

They opened Apple pay to see how much credit they had available?

They were distracted by the jumping shark?

More seriously, give it a few hours. The troops will rally and we'll soon be seeing amazingly creative spins rationalizing $10K and up.

I think it will take a few days. By the time the 24th rolls around it will be the greatest bargain since sliced bread. :D

I hope for Apple's sake that this thread is not a good barometer for these watch sales. We seem to overwhelmingly and strongly hate it here.....

Tim Cook never looked or sounded more like a Snake Oil Salesman than he did today with the Watch.

Sad.
Has apple jumped the Shark?

I was more impressed with the MacBook Air and Apple TV updates. Smart watches for me are still too gimmicky. I'm not seeing anything that makes me go, I need that now, especially for those ridiculous prices.

I saw this story a few days ago. I think MR is in denial of the reality. I'm not touching Apple Pay until it's cleared up.

That has nothing to do with Apple. It is a social engineering problem, not an Apple Pay problem. For example, f I call up Microsoft pretending to be someone else and asking them for the password to another person's email.

This thing is gonna bomb, isn't it?

Doubt it. It's a lame product and not gonna sell as much as the iphone or the ipod, but it won't bomb.

And it's gonna become much better in a few generations. I'm just gonna wait until they can cram in more health sensors in the future, and then I'm sold.

The Apple Watch is not useful enough to warrant those prices. It's not something I can see myself buying any time soon. Apple should have stayed out of this market, in my opinion.

If even Apple can't make the smart watch useful enough, I dread to think what competitors ones must be like. I imagine the Samsung smart watch is a train wreck but clearly far cheaper. Right now, I feel like the Pebble is about as far as smart watches should have gone. They'll take advantage of this and make sure their products continue to be affordable and desirable.

Well it will be worse for Apple when/if Android Wear App is allowed on the App Store.

I think at $349/$399 the sport will sell enough. It's still too pricey for when compared to value. I only bought both my swatch watches because I got a huge discount on them putting them under $100 each. it was a no brainer.

10K for a watch? If I had that kind of money to throw around, (and I needed a watch), I'd get a Rolex, Breitling or Tag Heuer.

If you that that kind of money to throw around you could afford all 4 of them. Of course the Tag would be a gift for the butler. You wouldn't disgrace your self personally with such low end "junk". ;)

What do you expect people to do? Cheer and clap for a 10K price tag? It's a niche fashion item, I think the reaction was as anyone would expect.

They were too busy gulping. Also, with all the Apple employees coached to hold their reservations, so that they don't appear to be applauding such a separation between the haves and have nots, it was the expected reaction.

Feel like I just wasted 1.5 hours of my life.

Disappointing keynote. :(

$1000 for the SS model? I'll take a new Macbook 12", thanks.

Impossible to justify anything but the lowest model when we all know they'll be obsolete in 1-2 years. Just foolish.

Fail overall. :(

:apple:

Agreed.

Putting my money into the 12" air. No reason to get the SS model, and the Apple edition....get a nice Rolex or omega instead. The Swiss watch industry is safe after this keynote.

Yeah, maybe to those "Rich kids of instagram" and people with no taste at all. Anybody whos in a market for 10k$ watch will be looking at much better watches and more premium names.

I generally agree. I will buy an Apple Watch, but for 10K I'll be looking at Swiss luxury watches, not smart watches.

The odd irony is going to be that the 10K version will be the only one that will be successful but there are only so many Rich and not enough to sustain a whole product line.

I hope for Apple's sake that this thread is not a good barometer for these watch sales. We seem to strongly hate it here.....

Lots of hate on this same forum for devices called the iPod and iPhone too, How did they turn out? Its Apple, the watches will sell out in a day.

That $10,000 watch is going to sell like crazy and the best thing is they will be able to sell an upgraded version to the same person again next year.

I thought my LG G Watch R was plenty expensive at $299 so Apple is going very bold and cocky on these prices. I'm sure people will charge up their credit cards and they will sell millions of them, but what an overpriced gadget.

Crazy high prices across the board.

You don't think new watch internals would be able to be exchanged in the expensive case? The face will remain the same, if it gets thinner, a spacer would work.

From what I've read, this is supposed to be "magical and really hard" gold. Was that covered recently on macrumors? I read the story on arstechnica. Even if it is magical gold, $9999 is a tad overpriced. I am not one to usually complain about price, but that is a bit optimistic.

I think it will take a few days. By the time the 24th rolls around it will be the greatest bargain since sliced bread. :D

Of course it's not the greatest bargain since sliced bread. It's aimed at the crowd that routinely drops that sort of $$ on fashion accessories or pieces of technology. That's not most people on here but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Where are all you doubters now ??

Yep I was right 1000 $$ dollar watch , no thanks my iPhone 6 plus tells time just as good.
