yesh but $3k in this day and age is alot for a shiny black bin. what with masssive bills, tax etc... only the super rich can afford a mac that costs as much as my car then!

It is a pro computer. You buy it because it makes you money when you use it. If it doesn't make you money, you aren't a pro and the computer was not built for you. Lots of folks will buy this and they will improve their work flow and the computer will pay for itself in a year. For some folks it will pay for itself in a month.

It isn't for surfing the web and playing video games at home.

Where have you been for the last 30 years? Computer prices fell down significantly since then.

If it cost 5k for the same computer some people would still say deal because its Apple. I cant explain it but I don't need one so its not my problem lol.

Maps, iCloud collaboration.

Eating into Google Maps and Google Docs with a desktop environment.

And a lot of those companies that brought down prices are now on life support after the Netbook craze died out.

Apple stock down $2.01 right now. Hmmm....

What do you expect? Apple has once again not announced a cure for cancer plus a teleportation device. Clearly these announcements aren't actually useful devices and programs that will help Apple sell more hardware.

So if I bought an iPhone 5s last week, do I get Pages, Keynote etc for my iMac for free?

$3K for a non-upgradable, non-expandable "pro" computer with four freakin' cores and a 256GB SSD?

What an epic failure. I could have lived with a Mini Pro if it were cheaper than the Mac Pro tower, but not this overpriced joke. Apple now has nothing to offer those who like to buy an relatively expensive computer but keep it for a long time while continually upgrading it. They have nothing to offer for "prosumer" home users.

Hopefully once my Hexacore Mac Pro is obsolete, the Mac Mini will be a viable option. I'll never buy an iMac, as I have an ethical objection to being locked in to a display with non-upgradable components slapped onto the back of it. I don't care how thin my desktop computer is.

We can expect the hackintosh community to finally blast off. For $1000 one could build a Hackintosh that would run with or exceed a $3K Mac Pro for most uses.

Apple stock was down before the event started. In fact a lot of tech stocks dropped today after Netflix was downgraded.
