I'm not so sure the new Mini will kill the value of the 2012. It will depend on how upgradeable it is. If the SSDs and RAM are soldered, the new Mini's reception could be quite cool.
I believe he mentioned SODIMM RAM, so that suggests user upgradability to 64GB.

The SSD will be fixed though given the T2. That limitation is balanced to a large extent with the four TB3 ports though -- add a TB3 NVMe SSD with likely very little speed impact vs internal. https://www.anandtech.com/show/13276/the-samsung-portable-ssd-x5-review-thunderbolt-3-and-nvme-/2

I think there is a model of the new modular Mac Pro sitting right in front of us, that big cube on the side of the stage...?!?

Larger than the actual chassis, of course...! ;^p

Also, if WoW would run on the iPad Pro (especially with the ability to output to a larger monitor, I wouldn't need a 'real computer'...

In four years the base price of the Mac Mini went up 60%. That's an annualized 12.5% in an industry that's deflationary during a time of near zero inflation (if we believe the fed). Its nice that this machine has increased capabilities at the top end, but the bottom end is the same or worse relative to its time.

The 2014 Mac Mini had the same hardware as the 2014 MacBook Air.

The 2018 MacBook Air has a Barbie processor with Barbie performance.

The 2018 Mac Mini now has serious performance from the base model. Plus it comes with an SSD standard.

Apple is simply moving away from basic hardware configs (with price increases to match). It's not simply Apple-inflation (though it plays a part)

Maybe they don't want us to know how expensive the upgrades are ....

Talk about rigging a contest, between the high price of and low specs of the MBA, the iPad Pro will seem better, but still only for certain tasks and mostly just for consumption.

HAHA !!!! "Cheaper".

Photoshop looks impressive but that project aero or whatever it's called looks like a huge gimmick that nobody will actually use. Who wants to use that? Who? A bunch of flat layers with a cheesy effect?

WOW, so we will be getting Red Dead 2 on iPad pro? its an Xbox one apparently, and so much smaller!

#Applealternativefacts

Mini looks great though.
