the 10 million (as a current iphone fan and user) is more than a flash in the pan. I just called verizon and they told me they've actually gotten a FEW calls abotu people trying to get the galaxy s4 after watching and seeing what ios7 looks like.

Me personally, I wait for the phone, not the OS system, but havign the iphone 5, and knowing the iphone 6 is without a doubt NEXT year.. and seeing this lackluster ios 7 today.. I'm not really impressed, and can see more people going with galaxy, or dare I say.. the Z10.

Especially knowing NOW the similarities between the galaxy s4's interface look and ios 7.. people might just say "o'll get the "bigger better device" as Samsung so loosely calls it

Strange I just called Verizon and they said they had a few calls about people asking how to return their S4 for an iPhone 5 after seeing the keynote.

Dont you love anecdotes??

The conference just ended and... I'm happy with everything except the look of the icons.

C'mon Apple Designers, even I can design better icons using Flat design.

I'll be eagerly awaiting your mock-ups so you can post them here and then have Ive hire you.

Yes. It would be very unwise to buy a rMBP. You will probably be waiting till some event in July/August for the update.

I just don't understand why they haven't updated the MacBook Pros. They have the technology ready!

Negative opinions from iOS/OSX owners are warranted.

Negative opinions from Android/trolls are not warranted.

I mean, I own X car...I don't go out to the competitors forums and bash their vehicles. If I did, I would be considered insecure.

I agree with you, it's also insecure to call anyone with a negative opinion at all a troll though as some do. Works both ways.

Agree, it is hard to imagine BMW not being on the list. They were the first manufacturer to offer true iPod integration, if I remember correctly.

I'm very surprised Infiniti wasn't listed as they are releasing all new vehicles in July, completely redesigned and some with Mercedes/Daimler engines. They added a second display for built in apps, free spotify and Pandora, multitouch displays (just tap to your destination and Nav calculates route), and NFC/Bluetooth syncing personalized drivers settings for seats, mirrors, temp, nav, music, etc. Siri integration was announced, surprised it wasn't here.

There's been plenty in this thread who have had negative opinions and haven't been called a troll. Because they're not trying to talk up how great Android is and are simply expressive their disappointment with ios only. It's a key difference that you're not getting.

Upside:
  • -New iOS interface
  • -New Mac Pro
  • -iRadio
Downside:
  • -No Haswell update for rMBP
  • -No significant price drops
  • -New iOS design
  • -May be asking for much, but I wanted an iPad Mini update

My guess is that they are probably doing something more with the rMBP (maybe better GPU/Haswell)...and they already had a big presentation here.

Im kinda shocked they did the Air here...would have been better to do an Air/rMBP at the next even.

The meta data on the photo was on the Galaxy S4 as well. I loved that feature. I am actually happy that Apple simply copied it. That is awesome.

iPhoto, Picasa, etc., a lot of photo apps had it long time ago. Apple just didn't have time to include it in iOS until now. So it is not copying Samsung at all, since Samsung didn't bring anything substantially new in this area.

I put a / for a reason. Some Android opinions can be negative. But there are plenty of trolls on this site today for the purpose of trolling.

At the end of the keynote, I was happy and satisfied with the announcements. I do not think I could have handled more disappointment after watching the season finale of Game of Thrones last night.

There were some good surprises that caught me and a lot of people off guard: iWork and Mac Pro preview to name a few.

I like nearly all the new features and UX changes in iOS 7, but I don't like any of the new icons with a white background.

So overall #

That's an anecdote. I'm sure there were people who bought the iPhone 5 after seeing the S4 announcement. The concern is that the overall market has plateaued. At that point, it's just Apple and Samsung fighting over a fixed pie.

The worry on the Street is that the high-end buyers already have their smartphones, and the low-end buyers who don't won't be spending a lot of money on them. Samsung perhaps has the edge on economies of scale, but Apple has yet to release it's "less expensive" device.

So speaking in terms of what we've seen today, would it be unwise to buy a 15" rMBP this month? Will we be waiting for fall for them to update them? I don't think I have the patience to wait that long.

My advice would be to wait a few weeks. If they don't release it in mid-July in time for back-to-school sales, then my guess is that it won't be until October. I'm guessing the former since Haswell chips were just officially launched and are working their way through the supply chain.

I'd rather have less of the pie right now. That's only positive for Apple where they can make gains in the global market.

Maybe It's just me, but I want my buttons to have an slightly visible border. The word 'Done' alone gives me nothing. And what was wrong with the old signal strength icon? The higher, the better. Now it's just dots. But dots can mean anything. Besides that, transparent overlays are great for video.
