VoIP is ok for WiFi apps! Not for cell network.

I say this is a good compromise that should be fair with all, including ATT. Of course, iTouch folks should be ok with this at all times...

I would hope so! I know I am! Wi-Fi VOIP is purrrrrfect! :)

I just hope that searches, categories, ratings etc are part of the App Store. PalmGear and Handspring used to be great sites for the Palm, but the quality just deteriorated.

With the App Store, the iTunes model seems like a good fit to me.

True, true. But Hitler is kinda funny. Look at the mustache :p

Yeah, Charlie Chaplan helped with that.

I wonder if any of those games could be availible as online apps. I doubt it, buy I like Super Monkey Ball (well, ok, its not really a good game, but a fun community game and one of the only I've tried for the Wii) and would love to play it sooner rather than later.

Plus, I wonder how game pricing will be. It CAN'T be as expensive as computer or console games. I'd guess $10 to $20 dollars for top quality games.

http://developer.apple.com is totally crashed LOL. Every 5 or 6 refreshes it will display a half broken page.

I am going to try again tonight. After the hell I went through trying to activate my iPhone on the first day ... I will wait :D

Even though I don't know Objective C, I am going to give it a shot ... again.

I'm assuming that the SDK is for all ADC members?
I'd guess so. It'd be dumb for Apple not to include those who have the student membership. I haven't seen whether paying the $99 will give you more than the SDK -- i.e. a 'full' membership on par with the student one.

Venture capital

I don't quite understand what the iFund is. What is it? A fund to provide independent developers with some type of compensation for for their apps, if chosen?

After developing "the greatest application on the planet" for the iPhone, the iFund will help you pay the $99 to receive the digital certificate and release your program though the app store. :D

Actually, the way I understand it, KPCB is a venture capital firm. They see tremendous growth potential for the iPhone platform. Therefore they want to get on the ground floor of the next billion-dollar company that comes up with a killer app for the iPhone. KPCB has already set aside $100m for this purpose. Hawk your wares to KPCB and they may pay for your office, get you great talent, and marketing -- for a percentage of the billions you stand to make -- at which point that $99 won't seem like much.

You can download the SDK for free, no matter what membership you have. The $99 is if you want to be able to test the app on your own iPhone/iPod touch hardware and then be able to distribute it through the App Store.

And they're done. Wow. Just, wow. This has actually been better than MWSF :D

I'm still on an adrenaline pump. I really can't think of a single negative here, and that's the first time I've felt that in the past three years. Fantastic!!

For the 30% you get distribution, OTA distribution, seamless issuing of updates OTA, payment processing and access to an audience of millions and I presume bandwidth.

Just the access you mentioned is awesome and powerful. Man what a cheap way to market your goods. I can not believe ANYONE that would complain about that? I only wish I was a developer and had something to sell. Man Id hop right on this deal! ;)

I figured it would be something. It makes sense, and doesn't penalize anyone. Ah well, now I know what I'll be doing in my copious spare time :)

Torrents!!!

Gah! Apple needs to torrent this SDK!

It'll get into the wild eventually!

I think I'm going to go back to work and try to download the SDK
later tonight.

atleast we'll see some awesome apps in the making until the June release!

I want to see a video of the presentation, I want to see how the games and apps look in motion! :D
