I'm not in a position to make that decision.
I don't think any of these people are bad people. I think that any company would be well off having Tim Cook as a COO, supply line guy. However, he doesn't seem to be capable of truly leading.
I also think that Ive can come up with decent design, if there's someone to clearly tell him "no" or to set expectations for him.
Schiller in charge of the computers seems very out of touch. Even after the MacBook Pro announcement and the backlash it did receive, he was unable to understand at all why there was doubt about the machine. Despite many well thought out reviews and posts around the internet pointing out the shortcomings, he still was completely baffled that everyone didn't love the device like he did.
I could go on
these people are not bad people to work. But as leadership without a "jobs' like personality, they're not in control and seem to just be coasting.
Now, I don't personally have a name that could just drop in to CEO role and do what jobs' did. These people are few and far between.
But the way I'm seeing Apple right now, is very similar to Microsoft under Balmer. A lot of momentum and great products to ride on. But most things released are not up to the previous lustre and none of it is truly forward thinking. it took over a decade before Balmer was replaced with a "Visionary". Balmer's Microsoft was also extremely profitable and financially succesful, But I don't think anyone, even Microsoft Fanboys are going to tell you that Balmer's Microsoft was a pinnacle of their success.
