First thing I did after activating my phone on the 19th in the morning was submit an unlock request through swiftunlocks. They emailed me back and forth saying they were having issued but they would get it done. Five days later they emailed me saying they can't honor the price of the unlock I paid for, refunded me and told me to pay the $100 unlock. Pretty lame. At least honor your price that you had told your customers. They even sent out an email a few days before saying the unlock price for the 6 were the same as the 5S! Lame!

SwiftUnlocks.com worked!!! Took them 2 days to unlock my iPhone 6 which I bought under contract with AT&T. 100 dollars is a lot but it worked!!!

Very happy!!!

I was pretty sure they carried all the same bands when Apple only has one firmware file out for all the 6 models and one out for all the 6 Plus models.

Looks like that a lot of you guys are using swiftunlock. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Things can be enabled/disabled at the hardware level without requiring different firmware.

We do know all A1549 and A1522 models are identical ("GSM" ones work fine on Verizon, despite Apple's page saying the CDMA bands aren't available). What we don't know for sure is whether or not Apple "lied" about the LTE TDD bands as well.

Hello guys. I bought an Iphone 6+ in MA a week ago since I was there visiting. I live in Spain and the phone is locked to AT&T. Im trying to unlock it but most of the companies say that I have to activate the AT&T network... Does anyone know how to do it? Can I unlock it without doing it? I heard that this website works (www.swiftunlocks.com) but Im not sure if I have to activate the AT&T network.

Thank you!

If you had the phone activated in store at purchase then you should be fine. Otherwise, email swiftunlocks and see what they say.

I've seen a couple of eBay listings for unlocking AT&T iPhone 6 & 6 Plus for around $60-$66. Has anyone purchased this and was successful in factory unlocking?

Thanks,
Alex

I don't think the guy activated it... He didn't open the box. The phone had an AT&T sim card inside but it didn't work.

If you can get to the home screen, the phone is activated. SIM card activation is different and it won't matter in your case.

I don't see any of those at the moment. I think they were taken down because unable to fulfill requests.

www.iphoneunlockguys.com worked for me.

They have an AT&T activation service as well for around $100

Used Swiftunlocks for my AT&T 6 Plus. Turn around was right around 24hrs. Popped a T-Mobile sim in, got the Congratulations Your Phone Has Been Unlocked in iTunes and works great!

However, when I just tried entering my IMEI into the Verizon site, I got the message saying was incompatible with Verizon. The unlock was just done today, so I'll give it a few days and see if it works later.

Unlocking your iPhone doesn't magically add it to Verizon's database of whitelisted devices. While you can use an existing, active Verizon SIM on your ATT 6+, you won't be able to activate a new Verizon SIM card/service using your device/MEID.

AT&T will make you wait 14 days before allowing you to unlock 5S. Supposedly a federal law to allow "buyer's remorse" period to end before unlocking previously owned phone.

I had requested unlock for both 4 and 5 a couple of days ago and that is the reply I got. So I have to wait until Oct. 1 to resubmit my unlock request.
It's not a federal law but the clause is there to prevent scammers. Otherwise, you might have folks who buy a new iPhone, unlock their current iPhone and sell it on CL or ebay, return the new iPhone and just stop paying their AT&T bill altogether. Sure account will go into collections and AT&T will likely get just pennies on the dollar either way but at least there's one less poor schmuck who bought an unlocked phone only to find it's been blacklisted by AT&T two weeks later. :p

Both phones on contract. But i think the 5S would be lapsed by today...

Please let me know how that goes!

As always first recommendation is to contact AT&T and request the unlock, if you have been with them for long time and have clean record, they may just honor your request. Otherwise you can try these guys (Ask all the questions you have before ordering, I always recommend that)

Also keep in mind if you activate a Verizon SIM from other iPhone 5C/5S or any other iPhone from Verizon and then someone else activates that device after as well, your SIM will be disabled because Verizon will not allow multiple SIM's with same IMEI records in their system.

Its true AT&T / T-mobile iPhone 6/6+ works on Verizon fully however Verizon does not add and will not add the IMEI/MEID into their database unless you purchase the device from them, and even if you do the workaround, you will still end up with a paperweight device or not getting service at all.

This is the reason why I still recommend Verizon iPhone 6/6+ if purchasing full price as its the best device to own.

I have a question.

Im about to go to Spain for 2 months so I used Swiftunlocks to unlock my Att IPhone 6. Before unlocking I turned off Icloud and "find my iphone" because all the services said it wouldnt work without doing that.

I just got the confirmation Email that the phone has been unlocked. I dont have a pre paid spanish SIM yet so I still have the ATT SIM in my phone and I connected it to Itunes. I will only see the message "your phone has been unlocked" once I get a spanish SIM and connect to Itunes right?
In the instructions it says that you have to restore Iphone but a few people have said that that does not have to be done with the 6. Is that correct?

Also I was wondering if I can now turn on "Find my IPhone" and iCloud?

Thanks!

But i think the 5S would be lapsed by today...

Typical contract on AT&T is two years, so unless you've done something out of the ordinary a subsidized 5S would be under contract for almost another year.

How come the price went up so high? I feel like I paid $5 for my 5S to be unlocked.
You probably did, and you probably managed to get it done just before AT&T dropped the hammer on the mechanism all the cheap unlock places were using. With that super cheap method unavailable, the unlock places have had to find other (more expensive) methods.

Of course I suppose there's also going to be a bit of "charge as much as you can because it's new and people are desperate" thing going on today regarding the 6's.

I'm going to Japan in a couple of weeks.
I have an iPhone 6 with a 2yr contract.
Would it be possible just to have att unlock it?

I was in the same position earlier this year when going to the UK and AT&T would not even consider it. I paid to have my phone unlocked by Chronic.

Its worth the try, if all else fails, call up my friend at 847-701-5125, He's been doing this for a long time so he will definitely take care of you.

I used this one on eBay for $45 and it did not work for me (iPhone 6), although they did give a refund.

iPhone 6/6+ unlocks currently are $60-$100 at most legitimate service providers. Anything less than that is a) Scam b) waste of time

Just checked ebay and noticed a lot of unlock services ranging from $30-$60 now. If these are legit services, seems prices have started to come down. Hopefully they will keep dropping. I'd like to unlock my phone, but not in a rush to drop $100.

I noticed this too. Must of the cheaper services require a "clean IMEI", but there seems to be some confusion on what that exactly means. Some websites describe a clean IMEI as simply not blacklisted or stolen, but other websites indicate that the iPhone can't be in-contract either.

I restored and all i get is 'SIM Not Valid' when i put a T-Mobile sim in the phone...
