Richard

i am a little worried about our friend Richard. he told fake locke that Jacob was responsible for him not aging. i mean maybe he made him that way and now he doesnt have to worry but if he is somehow connected to Jacob's existence and Jacob actually died then i am very worried. Richard is one of my favorite character's at this point so i dont want to see him go. im probably just being paranoid but i am a little worried.

So the season finale was last night? If so I can start watching this season.

This year I decided I wouldn't watch Lost or the Office till the whole season was over so I can just watch them all without having to wait for each episode. :D

well i would say that you should wait until season 6 is over because this is by far going to be the worst wait between seasons. its about the same cliffhanger status as the end of season 1 with the hatch but we only had to wait 4 months between seasons. but this wait is going to be a killer. so i would wait until season 6 is over.

smoky is not Jacob's Nemesis

thinking about it im not totally convinced that fake locke/jacob's nemisis is the smoke monster anymore.

when fake locke was walking with Ben on their way to see Jacob and Ben tells him that his dead daughter appeared to him and said that he must do what ever fake locke says he seems surprised. and says well i guess i don't have to convince you after all. that is screaming at me that they are trying to tell us that the fake locke and smoky are not one in the same.

it is obvious that they are working together or at least smoky is on the side of the fake Locke but i now dont believe that they are one in the same. it also explains that jacob's nemisis can shape shift into people with out their bodies and smoky needs their bodies. otherwise it's just not consistent. and the Lost writer's would do that to us!!

I think Cursor has it pretty spot on with "2 Gods" (God/Satan?) arguing over the good/evil essence of humanity - watching the opening scene again after reading his post it seems to fit perfectly. Talking about the arrival of the ship the guy says, "you brought them here, still trying to prove me wrong aren't you?" - Jacob replies "you are wrong" - guy says "They come, they fight, they destroy, they corrupt, it always ends the same". I don't really understand Jacob's reply to that though, he says "It only ends once, anthing that happens before that, it's just progress" - can anyone shed any light on that?

The God/Satan idea is very appealing. This could be their manifestation on Earth. They decided one day long ago to see if humans are capable of good. Events and cultures throughout history (the Egyptians and perhaps more) have been a result of this test. This would mean they would have to be unwillingly stuck in human form on the Island, maybe something went wrong?

PS - can someone tell me what episode/s the Black Rock ship has been in before? I must have missed that...

They found it in the first season I believe, and used dynamite they found in it to blow open the hatch. It is stranded in the middle of the Island, and we don't know why.

This is a good point that didn't even occur to me. If Jacob is indeed dead (which I don't think he is, but it's possible), then Richard may instantly age to the point of death, or something to that effect.

...

Your points in this post are good as well. Perhaps the Smoke Monster is an independent third party.

Walt's in the guitar case.

Stop it, you're giving me a case of the worklols!

off topic

LOL...

When I started watching this show, it was a couple of weeks before I was due to fly! It did make me think about the possibility of being in a air accident but to be honest with you, those are fairly rare!! Right?

unless you have hurley on board....

i agree with the guitar case being important.
he brings it around a religiously, even in the last escape from dharmaville, but have we ever seen him play?

Is there an actual guitar inside, even??? I don't think i've ever seen it.

can't believe iTunes are chargin £2.99 per episode... who actually pays?

There may or may not be a guitar in there. Personally, I believe there is. There has to be some significance beyond just needing it to recreate the plane crash, or else Hurley would probably have left it somewhere after returning to the island.

also.. where they got all those VW vans? They're a rarity here in the UK yet Lost seems to have a few of them, in all states of decay..

When you're on the set of arguably the best/most popular show on television right now, you can get a lot of hard to find things.

Let's assume that the bomb didn't go off and the flash was for time travel. What is they ended up back at the day the plane crashed on the island? :D

I had a little thought.

When Michael was off the island he tried to kill himself but the island wouldn't let him, IIRC the gun jammed or something. What if the nuke never went off and the big white time travel flash was the islands way of preventing that same outcome - to stop the killing of some important people. Juliet was on the verge of activating the bomb when she was hitting the bomb so it shunted her, and the people in the local vicinity to the future for their own protection.

1970-2004; the bomb was either retrieved and destroyed (or buried elsewhere). Or maybe it went up in the series finale when the Swan station was destroyed?

sorry if this has been said before, there's an awful lot of theories flying about!

Charlie.

Esau. Jacob. Jacob and Esau. Anybody?

That's what other forums are calling the mysterious guy in the beginning who we all think is also fakeLocke - Esau.

Indeed. I didn't think of the Esau/Jacob angle - I don't know my Bible stories that well. But once I started reading about it on other forums, and saw that thing about the casting call - it all started to add up.

I never thought that Esau/Flocke/Black Shirt Guy was the smoke monster. I think they are all three seperate entities. They can't kill each other, just like Ben and Widmore can't kill each other for whatever reason.

One thing is for sure, these new developments are a major distraction from a ton of other unanswered questions on the show. I just don't see how they tie it all up in how ever many episodes season 6 is. If they waste three seconds of next season on the love triangle crap. I'm going to be screaming at my TV like a beast.

I know what's in Hurley's guitar case: a third Locke!

We'll call him Guitar-Locke, or Glocke for short. Since the case is small, it must be Mini Glocke!

How the hell did Hurley shake off his excess baggage? Was he wearing a fat-suit or something? He seems much 'lighter' in season 5. Or is that one of the pro's of time travel??

I could be completely imagining things, but I think they did show Hurley playing a guitar a few episodes back. If I remember correctly he was in one of the Dharma houses with some other people. I remember thinking to myself, that's new, when did he learn to play the guitar.

not sure if this was mentioned yet...but why in the world does Juliette's home as a child look thoroughly modern? She's from the future. The evidence? The book on the table, "Mysteries of the Ancient Americas" was published by Pleasantville, N.Y. : Reader's Digest Association, c1986

i don't remember that, but if so that solves it.
about the guitar case, nayone remember if Hurley was holding the guitar case when he was extracted form flight 316 by the white flash? if not, how was the case with him in the pool where he ended?
