I work my butt off and have an advanced degree and a good income. I prefer better technology and more advanced products that I can afford. Just because you can only afford cheap crap, please don't call me an idiot. Are you able to go back to school and get a better job with a higher income so you can afford nice things? LMAO

You guys have to work?

Exactly. A round Watch would have to either have loads of unused screen space at the sides to fit a narrow column of text or have only the middle few lines readable. Not the ideal UX. I’m of the opinion Apple started making a round Watch originally (hence a lot of the circular motifs in the UI) and quickly dumped it when they realised all the compromises needed just to have a circular clock screen.
Wasn’t the watch design strongly influenced by Marc Newson’s previous watch designs already? That was a square design to begin with.

sadly, I dont like where apple is headed and their constant fan boy defenders justifying price hikes. For example, when they removed the earphones and charger yet raised their prices.

Ill keep my mini as back back up phone. But im moving on this year.
How is that fitting in with the topic of a new product being introduced?

This might be BS. A larger screen and ‘rugged’ features should be more popular than “1 million units”…🤩

That display needs to be bigger. At least have the option for those of us who like big time pieces. Also, they are missing on a huge market with old people. No offense to the senior crowd, but no one over 55 can read jack diddly squat in a 45mm display.

It may come as a shock, but some people make a lot of money where dropping $900 for a watch or phone isn’t a big deal for them.

I’ve had dinners that cost more than some people’s mortgages. It’s all relative, my friend. Apple is a premium brand that caters to more affluent customers.
This is 100% true. People on here may not like it, but it is true.

Garmin currently has a commanding lead in this market and they move about a million units a quarter so Apple matching that at launch (the one million number is for Q3 2022) would be impressive...

The Apple Watch Series 8 model with a larger 1.99-inch display is expected to sell in comparatively low volume, which could indicate a high retail price, according to insightful display analyst Ross Young.

Apple-Watch-7-Unreleased-Feature-Flat-red.jpg

Young made the remarks on the latest episode of The MacRumors Show, explaining that the larger Apple Watch Series 8 model that is expected to join the lineup this year will be manufactured in relatively low volume, reflecting its forecasted sales.

Apple is purportedly expecting to ship just one million units of the larger Apple Watch in the third quarter of this year, compared to four million 45mm Apple Watch Series 8 models. This suggests that the new, larger Apple Watch may have a high price point that constrains sales volume.

This supports Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman's recent speculation that the new Apple Watch will be stylized as a high-end model with a price tag in the region of $900 to $999. In addition to a slightly larger display, the device is expected to offer better durability and longer battery life.

Just wish it has 5G and more tweak-able interface options for example Infograph complications option stocks doesn’t update unless I open the app and manually update it also can I pick option for green when up red when down? Cellular icon doesn’t show signal strength? Really? 🫠

Yes the whole reason inflation is out of control is everyone just gets stuff because they have the money. No one cares anymore if something is a good value

No, that isn't why we have inflation. I will stop there so I don't get political.

I can afford what I want to purchase. I often choose not to purchase anyway. This is a nice circle for me with each circle slightly better than the last, relatively speaking.

You already have idiots who shell out $900+ for a phone so why not a watch too lmao
So other than the term “idiots”, that’s exactly what Apple is smoking.

The iPhone X seemed incredibly overpriced, but look how many X’s/Pros are out there now.

They threw out the bigger lure and caught themselves the bigger fish. I actually wonder if Apple themselves were surprised with the # of X’s/Pros they sold.

I'm still on an Apple Watch Zero. It still makes it through the day, but can only basically show me texts and calendars. I'm all for this large watch. I miss wearing a large watch and if I can get 5 year out of that it's great.
I had a zero until two years ago with the 6.

You really should look into getting a 7 or the 8. It is such an unbelievably delightful experience comparatively.

I think the high price point is just to have a scape goat for low innovation. AW 4/5/6/7 are nearly indistinguishable for the average consumer. Always on is nice, but now two years old already.
By Jove, that sounds so crazy it might actually work!

I actually appreciate the slow iterations year to year. It makes the FOMO less severe and makes the enjoyment of the money spent more savory.

In honor of the 30 year relationship with Johnny Ive that has come to an end this new limited release will be neither repairable nor upgradable and will cost $9,999.99. It will be a magical, courageous experience. Enjoy!!!!

Not a fan of the price either, (as much I'd be tempted for increased battery), but the price doesn't seem completely out of whack when looking at items like the Fenix 7 sapphire.

If it has an apple logo it will sell....unfortunately. I for one one won't buy it. Its roughly the same physical size as a garmin 920xt which I have and that's huge. Thanks but no thanks

I really like this inching towards the Apple iWatch Pro, but I won't be satisfied until they sell a $2,000 one the size of an iPhone 4. Sign me up!

No we won't. Bought a Blue Series 7 GPS / Cellular for $403 from Amazon. Couldn't be happier. Recession is coming folks and all that free money out there is gonna dry up.

Where is all this free money you speak of? 👀 👀

I’d like some before it dries up.

Apple: The watch has far exceeded our expectations and consumer demand is unprecedented for this new model. We will create a false supply and demand to keep this new model hyped up for consumers. Furthermore it is our fastest selling watch ever released! Thank you Apple shills!

I’m curious… was it like a world class chef because otherwise (and maybe even if it was) you was overcharged.
