So if I planned on getting the second 20" imac, but now it seems the second will be 24", can I assume it will be the same price?!!? If so AWESOME.

And also will the ram be 4gb minimum for all the 24" models or will it go up by 1 with each model with a max of 8???

I'm not looking for a new iMac, but tomorrow would be great because it would mean that I could get a refund on the price difference on the 24" 2.4 refurb that I just bought. It was delivered on the 20th, so tomorrow is within 2 weeks.

Im in the same boat. I got the same mac just a couple of weeks ago and a refund on the price difference would be great!

Intel Core 2 Duo (so no quad core) 2.66 Ghz, 2.93 Ghz and 3.06 Ghz
 EPIC FAIL

No quad-core, not even a speed bump in the high end. What were they thinking?

They better use the new GPUs to make up for this…

And for all you quad-core hopefuls, they obviously couldn't get 65 W in, and they didn't use the mobile quad-cores either, so until Arrandale's successor goes quad-core who knows when (probably 2011), we won't see quad-core in the iMac. So we may see PCs will have 6-cores with Westmere and Sandy Bridge at the same time as dual-core iMacs.

So this'll be the pilot for the product upgrades at Apple's desire rather than hosting a big event? I know there's the March 24th, but I suspect that'll be for something really cool.
I agree. Isn't the first time "pilot" stuff have happened. Someone said Logic 9 would be released this month. Maybe the March event is a "pro" event, with Logic, FCS, the Mac Pro, "Phenomenon" (whatever happened to that anyway?) etc.

Why would a Mac Mini have a FireWire 800 port?
Well, the mini only has FW400 today. You can daisy chain FW devices together. And converting that port to use an existing FW 400 device will be as simple as a FW800 to FW400 cable (nine pin to six pin).

Its also a much more reliable connector.

yeah waiting to hear what the gpus will be and what the $599 Mini will feature.

Be nice if they made the hard drives on these things upgradeable.

if the specs are true

Apple putting more emphasis on

1) display size
2) GPU power
3) more RAM (4GB? standard)
4) more HDD Size

and not going quad core low power desktop CPUs...

kinda a strange, tomorrow it is!

Hopefully they use the "new" GTX 200M series in the high-end iMacs.

This may be indicative of the future of Macs, if the notebooks didn't tell us already. Maybe Apple had a choice between a hotter CPU and a cooler GPU, and a cooler CPU and a hotter GPU. So they chose the latter…

I still think this is all BS and Internet rumors.
I hope the CPU bit is BS.

So the new Mini has two configurations... one still with 1GB RAM?? I bet it will still come with a Combo Drive too.

Actually you're the one who needs to wake up because if you were awake you'd of known that the iMac has used notebook components for a long time. Do you see Quad-Cores in notebooks yet (I'm not talking about the notebooks that get a 5 minute battery life)?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the imac does not have a battery.

Um - thanks for the lecture, but I'm fully aware that the iMac uses notebook class CPU's, and that there are not any mobile class quad cores.

My point is that I don't care what goes into the iMac to make it what it is. I just care about what it delivers. It is sold as a desktop computer, ergo I'd like current desktop class performance.

And dual cores just aren't cutting it frankly.

QFT. It's a desktop. Just because Apple stuff desktop class components in it, it's still a desktop.

<FW800> Its also a much more reliable connector.

I disagree - the FW400 connector was strong and sturdy. The FW800 connector is flimsy and not sturdy. Doesn't even feel like it has clipped in properly.

I´m gonna order so hard it MHz!!!

Hahahahahahahah. Jimmy Fallon watch out. ;)

Oh, right, yes, Apple are so bad for putting low specs in the rumours that we argue over.

They obviously need a new research dept dedicated to ensuring that only cutting-edge, hi-power specs get out into their rumours.

Johny Ive could lead it, and make sure that all Apple rumours have a brushed aluminium finish and a minimalist feel.

Thats awesome! I was at best buy today drooling over the iMacs because I want one so bad but have been waiting for a refresh. I noticed that behind the large black Apple wall that they had the current iMac boxes lined up, it didn't register to me until I got home and read this. They must have the New iMacs in the back waiting for release.

That's really interesting. Can you tell us what store or area?

I find it ironic that MacBidouille is now considered trustworthy, considering that when they first appeared many years ago they were predicting a new Power Mac G4 at 1.4 GHz at a time when the top-of-the-line was 450 MHz. They had a mockup that looked like an old-fashioned microphone. Does anyone remember?
