Doesn't it usually take several hours for those to appear?

They were fixed with 10.3.3 for my dual G4/800. Hopefully, they have it figured out now.

Well, of course I spoke too soon... the bug is still there for me.

I also have a 900ibook and when I did the install it gave me the you must restart your computer message as well when I did It only loaded as far as loading user login window and never past that so for me it's back to 10.2.something
 I hate expoler...

My problem is solved. I reinstalled Panther, installed the few updates (iPod, battery, Java, iCal etc.) and then the combo updater. Worked like a charm.

Not a new bug

I've discovered a small bug: when trying to write a cd with disc burner part of the dialog text is garbled. It functions normally though...

That bug has been there a while. I noticed it long before updating to 10.3.4. It is a shame that they can't allow the text to scroll. It looks really crappy. Most CD's I burn have names long enough to do that.

Is there anyway to revert to a previous update? 10.3.4 is giving me all sorts of problems on what use to be a speedy machine.

That's what I thought.

Any idea why a Stickies app. with one documented bug fix, one undocumented (but very welcome) bug fix, and one change in features (now we can 'check spelling as you type' in our Stickies) would bring it from 3.0 to 4.2?

The app. is essentially unchanged. It seems to be a 3.1 release to me. Even if they were going to bump up the version number, why 4.2? What happened to 4.0 and 4.1?
Under 10.3.4, at least for me, Stickies is listed as 3.0 in the Finder and 4.2 in the About box.

I think it's just a mix-up at Apple.

How exactly does one go about doing this? Or does anyone have a simpler solution?

Thanks
Well I suppse you could try that SilentNight thing that others have claimed have worked for them. And if anyone knows of an easier way then what I did please feel free to add.

Otherwise just go to the System/Library/Extensions of the version that gave you no problems. Copy the AppleADM103x.kext and AppleADT746x.kext into some other folder.

Once you've updated, find the same files, delete them. Reboot, then take the files that you've copied and place them back into System/Library/Extensions and reboot. After that you should get error messages saying OS X can't use the .kext files. To fix that just repair permissions and reboot. It kind of a long process but that's what I did, and it's been quite ever since, unless I do something extremely intensive. Web browsing and simple stuff like that, no sound.

Online Banking Issues

Well I was hoping that this latest update of OS and Safari would enable me to do my banking with Citibank. Everything worked on their site with rev 1.2, but with 1.2.1 and this one (1.2.2) I cannot bring up account details. I have reported this to Apple a couple of time and was hoping it would be fixed by now. Oh well, I just have to keep using IE for this site.

After update everything else still seems to be working fine. I do hope the airport recognition after sleep is better though, have not had this update running long enough to tell.

hehe.. i just had nice time installing the update and correcting permissions on 10 computers :) i love these mornings. dunno why, maybe i'm just such a nerd who enjoys small things.

:D I love them too! It's like a brand new OS to learn! Well, not really, but real updates like this can feel like it.

Good overall, but I wish...

...iChat had the forward to mobile phone feature that AIM has. I like using iChat, but it sometimes feel too much like a 1st generation IM client.

Sad thing is, of the big commercial IM clients, iChat is the best. I wish Apple would spend more time developing it and iSight. I just got AT&T's VoIP phone service, and it would be so neat to integrate them.

(BTW...if anyone is considering VoIP phone service...GO FOR IT! I love it!)

MAIL - Remove message from server when deleted from inbox still does not work on my office machine. how is it that this STILL isnt fixed!?!?!?!?

Did you report the bug? Did you complain to your Apple Account's Sales Engineer?

Has anyone installed the 10.3.4 update on a 12' Rev A Powerbook????

Does it fix the fan issue that started with 10.3.2????

Just a shot in the dark, but there's some XUL sites I have had trouble with... Seems to only work in IE and not safari or mozilla.

IE and safari don't support XUL. Neither does Camino. Mozilla and Firefox do.

new color profile

I read one other post about the desktop and Safari's metal taking on a new hue. I noticed this as well today and checked system preferences. Had to change the profile to "Generic RGB Profile" to get back the old look. Did the update change my profile to the default?

Also, very annoying... My network dialup settings were lost. This is particularly pesky since I have broadband, no dialup, but at work use my firends settings, which he insists on punching in himself. The same thing happened once before after zapping my PRAM.

Yea, it's fixed... It's been fixed since 10.3.3, but then again, it was never a *major* bug for me; 10.3.2's slowness was though!

Man.. I installed 10.3.4 and now my g5 can see my exquest cd-rw drive.. they do this too me everyother update tht mac sends out.. BAH i say

mother may i

Just a friendly reminder to dust of Disk Utility and REPAIR YOUR PERMISSIONS. So many people forget to maintain their computers and then blame updates for everything but the kitchen sink ;)

I did the update and now all my OpenGL games run so slow they are unplayable. Its definitely the update, because I was playing UT2k4 and getting 40fps, now I get less then 10fps immediately after the update less then 1 hour later.

Anyone else get this with UT2k3 and Warcraft 3?

Well it didnt fix my G5 problem, you guys know the one, where all the fans turn on at full blast and it sounds like it is going to take off.
That's just part of the G5's personality.. It's letting you know how much power it has and how much you're not using it. :p

Not too impressed so far...

Not very impressed with 1.3.4 so far, seems to have broken more then it's fixed. Now I'm having some strange networking issues. DHCP renewal isn't working, had to use a static IP, and I can't browse to my other servers.

Strange stuff... Maybe it needs to "marinate" over night hopefully tomorrow will bring better results.

UPDATE: For kicks-n-giggles I zapped my pram. It did fix some of my issues. (but it could have also just been a coincidence)

mine works perfectly fine and dandy, nothing is broken and safari seems faster.

have never had a problem with any update.

Just thought I would throw this in so people dont think this effects every single person updating.

Just updated. New powerbook 15.2" 1.5Ghz failed to restart. All I would get is a black screen... no Apple logo. Had to take the battery out three times and let the notebook sit, after about 10 tries pressing the power button, it finally booted on. I haven't restarted since, calling Apple tommorow.

Little irritated to say the least. Ohh and my battery meter reports my battery is completely dead even though its not.

Yikes - well, interesting to hear these kind of reports from users of the brand new machines at least - a good warning for anyone else with new PowerBooks. Good luck on getting that resolved, I feel for ya! :(

Well...

10.2.8 was notoriously bad...

and 10.3.0 really played havoc with the preferances of those who started using Filevault...

Apart from this the updates has been harmless, but I think those two is lurking in the back of a couple of minds... ;)

Just how bad was 10.2.8? ('Cuz I'm still onnit...)

it was so bad that the 10.2.8 that you're on isn't even the 10.2.8 that they're talking about. it was pulled and reissued. :)
