Does any body know what's with the sizes of this update?
On one of my computers the update is 23.9 mb and on an other it's 43 mb.
My third computer showed both updates until it froze, now it just show the 23.9 mb update.

The first computer is a iBook G3 466 MHZ
The second computer is a iBook G4 1 GHZ
And the third computer is a PowerMac G4 (quicksilver) 933 MHZ

Thus far, all is fine on my updated G5 and my iBook is still optimizing.

BTW, did anyone else notice the different sized installers for different Macs? (ie 20 MB difference between iBook G3 and G5 installers?)
Whoa ... I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it.

10.3.5 is listed as 43mb on my iBook G3 (500mhz), only 22.8mb on my PowerMac G4 (733mhz). Weird.

Any ideas about this?

So far, so good.

Installed on both my dual 1.8 G5 at work (4 RAM slot version), and my dual 2.0 (original release) at home via ssh. Both are working fine. I'll have a chance to pound the one at work for networking, as we are heavy on NFS, NIS, and automounts.

I ran the repair permissions but there were none to repair. So far everything seems to be the same on my PB.

dang you people need to calm down about the iPhoto 4.0.2. that was a freak accident. i would hope apple would put a little more consideration in to a major OS update.
Yeah, like that upgrade to 10.2 last year that was perfect. Oh wait, no, it nuked onboard ethernet on my (and many people's) PowerMac G4 500.

What was that, 10.2.8? I remember having to re-install 10.2 and upgrade to the prior revision (10.2.7 I believe) - only for Apple to fix it all a day later!

I'm waiting a week, the PNG exploit only causes the viewing application (ie Safari) to crash - unlike Windows.

2 sizes, same computer!

I installed the update on my main HD and then also on my "utilities" HD, which is bare bones OSX. The main HD updated with the bigger file, and the "utilities" HD updated with the smaller 10.3.5 file. Perhaps which installer (big or small) depends on some pre-existing file that is found on the HD. If missing then default to smaller install file. Waddayathink? :)

I did the updates: iPhoto, OS X, and the Security patch. All is going well. I have an 800-MHZ iBook G3. The only thing that sucks is that my uptime was at 35 days. Oh, well...

Have fun... Tony.

Kind of funny for me, my new iBook 1.2Ghz 14" arrived today - it spent the first hour of it's life installing 12 updates in the Software Updater. Luckily, 10.3.4 was what I got. Now I can wait 'till next week and let you brave souls be the testers!

Nice little article entitled "Mac OS X: Software update sizes can vary"

Where it states:
The sizes of software updates can vary for computers running Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later. This is a feature of Software Update, which automatically detects the best update for your computer.

Update works extremely well with my External FW400 HD and FW400 DVD Burner. Also no problems with my thumb drive.

my firewire 800 drive shows up again, after it had been oddly having trouble the last few days. and i was hoping during that time that an updat to 10.3.5 was coming so it would come back :p

So what's the deal with iPhoto 2.0.1? Strange to release an ugprade now, no?

Also can anyone refresh my memory? I tried searching for it and I couldn't find it.

Is it like this:

iPhoto 2 was the last free version

iPhoto 3 was released with iLife '04, with 4 and beyond as free upgrades to 3 but not 2?

I thought I remembered a previous upgrade, but I guess I'm thinking of iMovie 3....

Working Even Better

Just installed, and it works great. Even better actually... I have a few things in my startup items that need the network. Before, they launched before airport started... thus they didnt get on until i restarted the program or whatever... now airport starts up first and they work with out me doing anything. Yay for that!!!!

Hadn't we heard that 10.3.5 was going to bring a significant update to the OS in terms of some new features?? It seems like it is no different than any other 10.3.x update -- it just fixes a list of problems that I never knew were broken . . .

Actually that'll be 10.3.6 and it's due out..... Any-Day-Now™ ;)

Not so great for me. Installed the update, shutdown and then turn it on. I got the usual grey apple with the spinning thing underneath for awhile. Then, the grey apple turned into a grey "do not enter sign". Held the power then rebooted. Same thing. Opened the cd tray with a pin and stared with it open, worked fine... weird.

I've got an iBook G3/800Mgz/14"/Combo Drive
