A word of warning on Tiger and iPhoto
My fatherinlaw just got a new iMac partially influenced by me.
He has had a problem with iPhoto not allowing him to edit photos. I didn't get much time to play with it to see what the problem was and he went to Applecare Australia. They walked him through a fix that moved the photo library, reset iphoto, and then replaced the library.
After he got off the phone he realised that he had lost something like 46 shots. All of them appeared as 0kb. Thumbs for some still existed. No backups...
Applecare spent a little time trying to help him a second time, and gave up...no apology or compensation...
This has really soured their introduction to the Mac.
