Mac OS X 10.4.3 Released

after i installed and restarted it took a while to boot back up
i then fixed persmissions. which fixed about a dozen items

then i restarted again.
this time it hung at the blue loading screen. with the spiral moving for about 10 min, i did a hard reset and then everything loaded normal

This is on a Rev 1. dual 2.0 G5 with 3gb ram
 
Is anyone else noticing strangeness with flash? Load a page you know has it, so far it seems to be shigintg every falash fgile i view "down" about a third its height?!?!?!

take a gander, its doing this to every flash site i look at too...

it is "shifting it down", like there are <br> tags above the file, the strange thing though is that it is cropping the content "inside" the actual flash file...

I'm having the same problem! I re-downloaded an app and it still doesn't work. I forgot how nice the transparent dock really is over a black background...

There was an update to Transparent Dock today.
 
10.4.3 - bad upgrade, DONT TOUCH

I have had huge problems with Mail.app since this upgrade. Rules just _do not work_ at all. The old rules I had tons of problems with, and I trashed ~/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist and the rules didn't go away. Additionally I have had huge problems with Mail.app after - Adding new rules _seems_ to work, BUT then they won't execute, and I can't close the preference window, and Mail.app needs to be force quitted instead of regular quit, etc.

This is the worst upgrade I've done yet, and I've done every one since 10.2.1.

flash working fine in safari here; see below (yes, flash 8 also). MX2004 professional and 8 Professional also launching/working properly. Im going to assume the rest of the suite is fine also.

Observatins....

I have noticed that the fan deal is back again. It seems like my fans rev up and down ocasionally. I also noticed that my arrow moved slower after the update. Does anyone else experience the fan issue after the update?
 
fast user switching is also not fixed. it's just "user switching"...tiger's FUS is not instantaneous like panther's.

OK, here is a screencap of the issue, the blue area highlited at top, is extraneous space, this site worked perfect under the last version of safari, what i have notived is it only seems to affect flash content that should hit the very top of the browser window, or is embedded with 100% height scaling.

I think its just a problem with Safaris handling the embed tags.

I don't see that problem. Looks fine to me.
 
Widget causes Disk Error after 10.4.3 update?

Does anyone have the same problem with the Dictionary, Flight Tracker, Stickies, Unit Converter widgets? These widgets consistently requires new disk permission. I ran verify disk permission several times, and did a number of disk permission repairs, but these haven't been fixed after I have installed 10.4.3:

Well, installed on my PB 15", and it took about four minutes to restart, but all seems well. I've noticed that Safari and Spotlight seem incredibly snappier. I had previously been having page rendering issues with Safari, and they've now disappeared. The scrolling is also MUCH smoother.

I still have a couple bugs with DVD Player, though. First, the "Play from last position" screen has been replaced with a "System error" screen and forces me to play any DVD from the beginning. Second, after I close DVD Player normally, a dialog box appears stating that, "DVD Player has closed unexpectedly...".

Oh, well. Guess I'll have to wait for the next DVD Player upgrade for those fixes. Wonder how long that'll be.

Seems to be working fine with Safari on my G4.

Did a combo install on all boxes and all systems are running fine :D

ghad thats odd, EVERY SINGLE PAGE i go to that has flash at the top is messed, i have quit, and restarted now, still does it...

Yes these are special permissions and are here to stay for some time.
You are going to see them from now on every time you repair your permissions. :mad:
 
troubles here with 10.3

well i installed on a G4 1.25 powermac and while installing the update (97mb) i got a kernel panic error (the one with the transparent message telling you to restart) and now i can use safari, software update, many of the apple programs.

I downloaded the update via firefox and tried installing but it only goes so far and tells me to try installing again.

I am stuck and dont know what to do to fix the system.

Thanks for any suggestions.
 
Re-Index Spotlight

To re-index spotlight go to the Spotlight Preference's in System preferences. In the tab for "Privacy" but your harddrive (or folder you wish to re-index) in there, then remove it, Spotlight should then re-index the HD.

I'm doing the index as we speak hmm type.
I use Tiger Cache Cleaner to do so.
Which btw is a great way to check when the next OS update comes out as Tiger Cache Cleaner always updates their program 3 days before :D

Longhorn is a rip-off of OS X. If Apple does not do some amazingly innovative things with Leopard, people will walk in the Apple store and say, "Hey, that looks just like Vista." Just with less software, compatibility, cost, etc.

I think we will all be happy when the Tiger chapter is closed. I just hope Apple understands what is at stake with 10.5 and doesn't repeat the Tiger mistakes.

What are you talking about? Vista won't be out for more than a year from now. People have taken forever to migrate to XP from all the other versions. So it is a pretty good bet that migration to Vista will be slow. Especially since a lot of goodies have been removed from it and a lot of early viewers have stated it appears to be more of an XP service pack. (That's not my opinion.)

How long did it take MS to go from XP to Vista? Well so far about 5 years. Who knows when they will really release Vista but the earliest is about XMas next year.

How do you know Vista will even be equal to Tiger right now when Vista does come out? Leopard may even be on the street at that time or very shortly thereafter. Probably another version in 12 to 18 months after that. Probably OS XI before MS advances Vista.

Sheesh.

Oh. This dot 3 update is very good for me on 2 machines. Thanks Apple.
