If your computer finds the 56.8mb update w/ software updated should you use it or go to Apple's website and get the 97mb one?

The only problem I've run into is that Saft 8.1.6 doesn't work with Safari 2.0.2. But passing the Acid2 test is very cool - now I have another thing to gloat about to Windows users :D
Change the supported build number in the info.plist file within the Saft-bundle to reflect the latest Safari build (416.12). This took me half a minute to indentify and fix.

repairing permissions after the update show a ton of corrections for widgets the dock and other mac utilities. Tons !

I have got that too... special permissions for a lot of widgets, and it seems to repeat it 3 times for each one... annoying, but is this alright. Is this meant to happen ?

Use the one your computer finds. It is different for different people based on their hardware and which updates they have installed in the past.

Anyone noticed a difference in anti-aliased fonts? Im typing this in Safari, and the font is very good - better than in 10.4.2. BUT: Elsewhere in the system, for example "About this Machine" there is a greenish/yellowish glow under the fonts. Same deal for System Settings (eng ?) afaics. Ive seen this on GNU/Linux too, when I played around with the font config.

FYI, I repaired permissions before installing (none found) then restarted, installed, restarted and repaired permissions again, again none found.

Null problemer her.

Have you tried playing around with the font-alias settings under Appearance (Utseende)?

Yes, have tried various hinting levels - but I cant see a real difference really. I think it only applies to newly started applications (tjobing forøvrig :) )

Are you running Disk Utility from the Tiger install disc? This is the way that Apple recommends. Running it from the disk that you're trying to repair can give you wacky results.

Edit: Upon noticing further comments on this subject in this thread and others, I have lost confidence that this is the right way. However, I do base my claim on this Apple support article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh1008.html

OK. Now I'm scared. The computer has locked up completely twice the last hour after updating to 10.4.3. The only thing moving is the cursor. No moving windows, nothing. Restart requires (or I haven't bothered waiting for more than a few minutes to see if it clears). Also there is a complete lockup when the login-apps starts for 30 seconds or so (icons freeze mid-bounce in the dock).

This is NOT normal!

i did not know that i had to run it from the instal disc.

i'll give that a shot tomor - too tired now :)

btw - re-indexing spotlihgt = 1 gazillion times faster :D

can i get a w00t w00t ?

97Mb on my Mac Mini in Software Update, working fine :) Now to update the Powerbook.

The new Safari has broken my online banking however. The old Safari version in 10.4.2 was recognised by it but the new one it says that I do not have a compatible browser :(

I repaired before hand and it said I was using special permissions for 2 items, ever since the last update. Now it says I am using special permissions for a ton of widgets, several repeated a few times...

Powermate

Looks like 10.4.3 has disabled my griffin powermate. :( The blue light comes on after a reboot, but it doesn't seem to respond to anything. Pulling the USB cable and plugging it back in leaves it without even the blue light. Repairing permissions had no effect.

imac g5 rev b. 58.6MB update.

guess I'll fiddle some more then check griffin for updates tomorrow and/or email them...

update: the combo update has restored functionality to the powermate. at least I think that's what did it, I didn't really change anything else. all hail the combo update.
of course, now I have receipts for the patch and the combo update. I can probably nuke the patch one, the BOM says it's a proper subset of the combo.

Well, I passed on the update in the Software Update and just downloaded 10.4.3 from Apple in the form of the Combo Update.

I did this in hopes to get rid of something I've seen since day one of using Tiger. When I open the "About This Mac" window there is always a little blue "halo" or "glow" around the Software Update... button. This blue "glow" also appears on only some buttons in other windows, like software preferences window of an application.

Does anybody else experience this? I've noticed that my girlfriend's brand-new iBook G4 does not have this problem at all.

Both of my Macs were on 10.4.3 and had just run software update this morning to make sure they were up to date. The iMac 20" is downloading a 56.8MB update and the PowerBook 12" is downloading a 97MB update.

anyone else's yellow "minimize" circle grey out sometimes in finder and safari until you quit? (or relaunch finder).

is this a dock thing? or a program thing?

btw i'm not running any dock haxie or anything

Just downloaded the 90 somthing mb update on my 12" 1.33ghz ibook. No problems visible. Screen Spanning hack seems fine as well. All sites/flash/widgets work as they should. Hard drive sure was clicking away for a while tho

I have it on my PB, was there before the update and after too... doesn't bother me though.
