Edit: this is weird tho.... it seems my bluetooth icon has been removed from the silver bar on the top...no clear way to get it back... not a huge deal but i liked knowing if i had bluetooth on or if a device had connected. Weird

I have had this happen in 10.4.2 also.I had it happen several times in one day and it has been almost 1 month since the last time it happened to me in 10.4.2 .
I am waiting 1 day to do the update to 10.4.3

I did this in hopes to get rid of something I've seen since day one of using Tiger. When I open the "About This Mac" window there is always a little blue "halo" or "glow" around the Software Update... button. This blue "glow" also appears on only some buttons in other windows, like software preferences window of an application.

Does anybody else experience this? I've noticed that my girlfriend's brand-new iBook G4 does not have this problem at all.

Yeah, I'm experiencing that, too. But those things started showing up just a few weeks ago out of nowhere. Did the 10.4.3 update fix this? Although, I think they're pretty handy at some times. If I'm too lazy to move the mouse, I'd just hit tab until the blue thing is around a button, check/radio box, whatever; and just press space.

I installed this on my Ti PB and the download was 97 MB. As the previous poster said the repair permissions showed various items getting special permissions each type the repair permissions are run. Other than that, the Ti is running good. I'm going to wait out for several days before I update my 12" PB and 12" iBook (or not to update them, as 10.4.2 is not causing any problem to me at this time; if it ain't broken, don't fix it). I cannot help felling 10.4.3 download can be a little buggy by looking at the comments on this thread.

That halo shows the keyboard focus when you turn on the

System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts
-> Full Keyboard Access , All Controls.

You can move the halo around by pressing the Tab, or Shift-Tab.
I hope this helps !

Safari is acting up...

All of my "favorite" on the favorites bar have all been deleted after I repaired permissions... very odd.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes. They should really remove dock magnification. Who uses that usability nightmare anyway? :p

For those who are having problems with UNO, using Saft to set Safari to use Aqua relives the tab-blemish. (Although by setting the favorites-bar to a lighter color, but it's an improvement).

10.4.3 :)

Well, after a bit of hassle I did a complete re-install of Tiger because I don't think my original installation from months ago, was very good (for some reason, i could not turn on AFP sharing).

So, I did a fresh install, then the combo update (109mb) then my CS2 apps, then Front Row.

Front Row is the interesting part, it performs BETTER than it used to. When watching a download episode of Lost it would drop frames all over the place, now it seems to not have a hint of dropping frames. This is on a Powerbook 12" (see below). This has been the best gem I have found so far with 10.4.3.

yes, but i didn't not install the framework. will just having the program and running it once be a problem? because i don't even have it as a login item

cant download!!

I only have a dialup connection, and the download will take about 6 hrs!!!!

if thats not bad enough, my ISP resets my connection after 5hrs, so i have no way of d/l the update!!!!

I have tried (twice!!!) allready, downloading part of the file then pausing the d/l restarting my internet connection, but Safari seems to like restarting the d/l all over!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can someone please post a torrent, or put the file up on limewire, or somewhere, so i can get this update......

thanks.

HELP!!! SU and Installer out of commission

This is a first...updating has messed up something on my computer. I was in the process of updating both iTunes and OS X, but the install froze my computer completely. Now, SU "Quits Unexpectedly" every time I try and update. I also tried downloading the update straight from apple.com. Installer "Quits Unexpectedly." What do I do?

Side note: spotlight does not work anymore. Something went terribly wrong and I hope this problem gets resolved. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Installed on my PB15 and server version on Mac Mini fine (see sig for configs).

On my powermac it downloaded and installed but when I clicked the restart button I got a kernal panic (first one ever). System rebooted fine and seems fine so far. I have the 6800GT graphics card and the kernal trap seemed to be related to it. FWIW.

bluetooth broke

i just updated my ibook, now i can't connect my cell phone (SE T610) with my iBook. Tried re-pairing it with bluetooth assistant, which won't even find my cell when searching. ugh.... maybe it'll work tomorrow :)

This isn't a bug...it's a feature!

You have enabled full keyboard navigation, she has not. :)

On my powerbook that I purchased in June this used to happen all the time but one of the last recent updates must have fixed it because it's ok now. Used to drive me crazy when I would remember it.

is Full Keyboard Access that option in Keyboard and Mouse in System Preferences? well i just turned it off.. that little blue halo thing was annoying me as well.

all's running well so far. good stuff! :D

Mac Keeps Asking Me About Shutdown/Restart After Upgrade

My mini has developed an annoying habit after the 10.4.3 upgrade: If I leave it unattended for a bit, I return to find a menu asking me if I'm sure I want shutdown or if I'd rather restart or cancel.

This dialog never appeared before and is annoying. Any thoughts on the cause and how to fix it?

Thanks.

i am experiencing the same thing, SU quits, Safari quits, spotlight does not work, most apple applications are F'd. Doing both updates killed the system.

I downloaded the standalone installer and it is not able to install. gives a unable to complete installation message. Please help

Safari Flash Bug

I am having this same exact problem with Safari for 10.4.3. Every single page with flash is shifted down a certain number of pixels and doesn't fuction properly. THis problem was not present in 10.4.2. I hope a bunch of people are experiencing this problem since my own site uses flash and it no longer works properly in Safari. And no - my code is fine - all sites with flash have this problem.

ghad thats odd, EVERY SINGLE PAGE i go to that has flash at the top is messed, i have quit, and restarted now, still does it...

Alright the Sony Ericsson Try the phone page now works. I used to use Firefox since Safari would not fit the window correctly.

Yes. There is a bug with launching Front Row for some reason. No idea why.

I narrowed down the lock-down problem to spotlight. Even after several reindexings it would not work. Searching for something could cause the whole system to freeze. :(
