Having read through this lot, I'm sticking with 10.4.2.

see with every update there's always this post about im sticking with the previous.. no probs for me..

My PB and PM updated fine for me. No problems. Things seem faster. It does seem that my PM fans come on a little more. I hadn't noticed that since 10.3.8.

:p

If you look on dictionary.com, you get this:

snap·py ( P )
adj. snap·pi·er, snap·pi·est
Informal. Lively or energetic; brisk.
Informal. Smart or chic.
Snappish: a snappy retort.

So as we're in an informal forum, I think we can get away with it. ;)

Agreed. Brisk might apply to the usage under consideration. I'm just having fun anyways; not trying to be snappish. [using snappish as defined by Dictionary rather than as defined by dictionary.com. I may be being snappish if used as defined by dictionary.com, although this really isn't a retort]

10.4.3 on iMac

Are your iMac's G5 hdd and fans more active (noisy, noticeble, whatever) since the upgrade?

So be it. I installed it last night but didn't take the time to play with it. Spotlight, more than anything else, is brisker (or briskier...hmmmm, Tiger says brisker is the properly spelled word). I haven't noticed any other major speed improvements. I think now it will work as my replacement for QS for launching apps.

This update keeps getting better. :)

Not only does my PB feel faster, but I can now actually use my HP laser printer! YAY. Ever since installing Tiger (it worked fine with 10.3), it refused to print anything but I thought this update might fix it up, and it has!

Help!

After installing the update on my iBook G4, a little Unlock Keychain box keeps popping up when I restart, and I don't know what password I'm supposed to be entering into it. I only have 1 password and that's for my user account, and it doesn't accept that.

When I click Details, it tells me its something to do with Airport. I tried entering my wpa-psk (?) but it didn't like that either.

I have the same problem!! What's going on?

I've had a problem like that in the past, and repairing disk permissions solved it, although you may have already tried that.

nothing works now...

...except for safari, mail and some minor applications.

when i try to launch any other application, it jumps on the dock but the black triangle on the bottom does never appear.

i can't launch itunes, firefox, skype, icq, vlc, final cut, photoshop etc etc.. what a mess they did...

any solution? (i've tried to uninstall 10.4.3 package using OSXPM but there is nothing to do..)

EDIT: btw... exposè doesn't work as well. when i visualize desktop all the windows come back after few moments.

processor ratio is always at 100%, my powerbook is burning... i never had problems before installing 10.4.3...
i really can't understand.

Internet connectivity

I hope this fix resolves some sort of timing-out I get with my Ethernet connection... during random times, my Internet connection just drops (I'm using DSL) and I am forced to reboot.

Not sure what could cause it.. I'm using a D-Link Router with my DSL modem... it happens at random times... cables are securely plugged in and Network shows that I'm connected. Strange thing is that Firefox allows me to continue to surf, while Widget updates, Safari and Software Update tell me that I'm not connected to the Internet.

What could cause such a thing? Very frustrating...

New Feature Set?

Does anyone know where to find an exact list of the added features for each App that is listed in the update?
I'm sure there must be specifics and it would be nice to know where the enhancements lie exactly.
I for one don't know all the features of every app as it is, so for example I see that there is camera raw support. What exactly does this mean?
I believe the finder would display a thumb of a raw file before this update, but I don't recall. It does now anyhow. Also, Preview will open .cr2 files. Is this new? I'm just curious what is new and what am I just discovering for the first time.
I think Apple would help their customers by providing this information.

EDIT/UPDATE - Guess I just answered my own question...

waiting on the fringe

OK, I have NOT done this update yet because I have a question first (and am waiting to see how other people fare)...

How come when I put my iMac G5 to sleep, the fans go full blast for 30 seconds to a minute and then it goes to sleep????

This has been freaking me out for a few weeks, so any insight would be greatly appreciated. If it's something that the update will solve, then even better.

10.4.3 experience

PB 17", 1.67 - 97 MB
Ti PB 667 - 56 MB
iBook 800 - 56 MB

10.4.3 finally fixed the resolution issue on the Ti PB 667. We can change screen resolutions again. Yea! :)

This looks like a good update. I am going to install it now on a non-critical machine.

And the PB Brightness keys!

Yeah, it's about time! And finally the brightness keys work too!

My iBook seems to be much faster all over.... its weird. I have updated in the past and never really noticed a boost in speed, but right now it feels like I just added more memory or something..... awesome :)

Fan Noise Solution

I unplugged the power from the back of my iMac G5, pressed in the power button (the iMac made a slight fan sound and stopped because there was no power). I plugged the power back in and the iMac G5 booted quietly and still running the quietest that it ever has. I have the Processor Speed set to Automatic. Good Luck.

Any probs with MAC THE RIPPER??

I have a feeling that future updates are going to incapacitate this program.

Anyone updated and tried to use this program

also what version of MAC THE RIPPER are you using..

thanks for any info!:)

With most issues running Repair Disk Permissions and a restart does wonders.

Tried the acid test #2 in Safari. It's much better, but still not quite correct.
