No Safe Sleep?

Aloha,

Looks like Safe Sleep didn't make it into 10.4.3 for the rest of the portables. Anyone suspect this is due to odd bugs (i.e. the ethernet port not waking and DVD-Audio disks play without sound)?

Should we expect this to show up in an eventual revision?

Quartz 2D Extreme

To all those who knew one of the many hacks to enable Quartz 2d Extreme - Don't do it in 10.4.3! I had Q2dE enabled in 10.4.2 without any troubles. I installed 10.4.3 and, as promised, it was disabled. I did the old go into Quartz Debug, enable, force quit trick and bam - not 3 minutes later I had a kernel panic (the first one on my powerbook in 6 months). Don't do it (or save everything first!)

Update Done!

All perfect! , Safari 2.0.2 is now more fast, Tiger is now more stable. :p

Has the iChat bandwidth error bug been fixed when video chatting? It was suppose to be "fixed" in 10.4.2 but never was...

Was this in 10.4.2???

I'll download it on my mini when I get home. Hopefully Safari works, and doesn't hang or unexpectedly quit anymore. Also, on one of my Admin accounts, I cannot move items in the Application folder without putting in the admin password. No matter how I correct permissions or change them to accomodate this.

Since its a large file, I'm downloading from a campus computer lab computer (dorm rooms are capped at 3mbit/sec). I got the file at about 1.2 megabytes/sec :D I downloaded all 97 megabytes in about a minute! Now it's just taking forever to copy over to my Mac.

Does this mean you downloaded some stand-alone file and then copied it across to the computer with a slow connection? I'd like to know that for two reasons: I only have 256 kbps at home (I know... :( long story), so I'd like to download at work (mmm, JANET :) ). Also it would be useful to archive updates so I don't have to download again. Is this possible?

EDIT: duh, found it here...

Don't know if it's been "fixed" but it works a lot better over my airport network.
I used to get "not enough bandwidth" almost everytime I tried iChat over airport. Now it's down to 1 out of every 10 times.
If you still have this problem make sure any device that uses the IEE1394.eg a firewire drive is unmounted and retry.

Installed fine on my 15" PowerBook (1.25Ghz) and Mac Mini (1.42 Ghz). Downloads nice and fast (700K per second or so). Both machines took a little longer than normal in Open Firmware (the grey screen with the Apple logo).

I must admit I took a full backup before installing. Better safe than sorry :)

all fine here

everything running fine on my imac.

anyone know if this has updated RAW file support in iphoto for the Canon 350D / Digital Rebel XT ?

EDIT: appears not :(

when does apple post the combo update download? i want to download it here at school before going home to update the PM.

System-wide raw support...

You can now view RAW files in Preview.app and RAW files show up in the Finder slideshow: that RAW support should also work in any other slideshow capable apps (Mail?), or maybe in iMovie too, although I haven't tried everything yet.

Great system feature.

few things i've noticed on my 17" powerbook which lead me to ask some questions

1. the hacked front row doesn't work - i can't expect it to, whatever.

2. lots of permissions need repairing - is it ok to keep clicking repair?

3. ministat2 (widget) is showing my CPU heat up to 116 degrees F. that's up from 104. is that a healthy heat?

EDIT: also 10.4.3 seems to have fixed my "flicker screen problem". anyone else?

The Difference between Combo and standard

What is the Difference between Combo and standard update?

Front Row?

Can anyone verify if the hacked version of Front Row still works after this update? Just curious.:D

will it be safe to use the 97mb update on all macs? or should I use the combo. I support emacs, imacs, PM, PB. Im thinking it will be safe to use the 97 on all of the computers because if you go apples download site that is the only one they have listed other than the combo. I'm only rolling this update out on a few machines and I will see how things go. I've been waiting for this update for a long time... tiger has been kind of buggy in the production dept.

the combo is all updates in one... so 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 10.4.3 combined into one updater. Standard update would be just 10.4.3... if you are up to date with 10.4.2
