97MB download took me less than 30 seconds, restart did take awhile. I repaired permissions and restarted again. I ran XBench and got a better score than in the past. Front Row still works just fine.

On a PB 15" 1.5GHz

whats with all the permissions repairing? It sounds like it needs to be done manually after every update?
Well, it might not be needed, but it's a convenient way to avoid any problems. All installers that requires password may mess with your permissions, and by repairing them right after major installs you might just catch potential (though rare) errors before they cause problems... :)

This is not how it is working though because there are many people that have updated systems but are only getting the combo option.

PB15 97MB 97MB 97MB
PB12 58MB 58MB 58MB 58MB
D2.0G5 58MB
IB12 97MB 97MB 97MB
ImacG5 97MB 97MB
D2.5G5 58MB
PB17 97MB 97MB
MacMini 97MB 58MB 97MB
IB14 97MB

This is what I have figured... hmmm.....

My PB15 was 97 MB while my Dual 2.7 was 56MB ...

if you've UNOfied, the highlighted tab in safari doesn't mesh smoothly into the rest of the of window.

I noticed that too. Is the top just darker than before? It actually doesn't look too bad this way, so no big deal.

Does anyone know why the update isn't showing up in my software update?

Just to be sure, are you on Tiger or the previous OS? Sorry, I had to ask :)

I get over 1.5 MB per second at school. It's great. I downloaded an iTunes update in less than 20 seconds or so.

Ah, I am jealous. I used to have a fast dorm room connection, but now my apartment building's connection goes slower. It took me five minutes to download the update :(

Just installed this on my partner's iBook, (never experiment on my own ;)) and all seems to work well. It was 56.8mb, and took around 2 mins on my 4meg connection. (although I can't believe people are moaning that it took 5 whole mins :D :p)

Repairing permissions brought up the same as everyone else - a slew of widgets, and some php-related files. I repaired them, and the same things still came up when I tried it again. Ah well :)

OS X 10.4.3 breaks El Gato EyeHome

If you have an El Gato EyeHome you may want to hold off upgrading to 10.4.3 until El Gato release an upgrade for their EyeHome product, it is crashing out here constantly since I upgraded to .3. Finally though this will force El Gato to upgrade the EyeHome which IMHO has been in need of a firmware upgrade for ages now, how about an upgrade to some modern codecs El Gato?

Just installed 10.4.3 on my dual 2.0 Powermac.

immediately after installing and before I restarted the Hard Disk started thrashing about a lot. I restarted and it's still doing it! I'm a bit concerned! It's never thrashed about like this before, ever!

I've got plenty of RAM (1.5gb) I wonder what it is?

It should show up..Where are you ? US? Europe?

I'm sure the files are propagating thru Apple's servers..Might take a little while.
Keep checking..

I'm in the US. Yea, haven't had a problem before, so I can't imagine why it isn't showing up. Any other thoughts?

Safari still doesn't work with my online college site (University of Maryland University Campus http://webtycho.umuc.edu). Sits there trying to login but never does. Mozilla, Netscape, Firefox, and Opera all work, however.

It's the new,improved spotlight..
Lot's of spotlight functions work on the fly faster thus causing more reads to the HD.It'll settle down after a while.I had the same problem and it eventually mellowed out

Scrolling trackpad thing fixed

Seems to have fixed the weird thing where KernelTask would take up 10% of the CPU or so while idle for not apparent reason for scrolling trackpad users!

Failed to fix the thing in finder where you move the cursor over a column boundary in finder to resize and the cursor does not change the the resize icon. I don't know why but this really bugs me !

According to Activity Monitor its writing approximately 1-4mb of data a second to the Hard Disk. What the heck is it doing!?!

Ah yes! Thank you! I've just noticed it's re-indexing my HD, or appears to be. It's just finished now. On older systems with slower drives that's going to be a pain in the ass

Well my download took about a minute on my Verizon FIOS 15mb/2mb connection. God bless Verizon and their fiber to the home.

-Safari = if you open a link in a new tab it doesn't activate the tab, it just loads the page behind it. I think thats new...but i'm not sure

-Disk Utility = Repaired some permissions but not to any degree that anyone else has been talking about

-RAW Support = FINALLY SUPPORT ALL NIKON NEF FORMATS THANK YOU APPLE

-Image previews as thumbnails in finder = SO MUCH FASTER! Images literally are loading 2-3 times faster than they were in 10.4.2 and! this is with RAW support too. And this is with 200+ NEF/RAW files per folder.

-Black border with NEF- This is finally fixed in both iPhoto and Preview.

my restart took a while though

AND CHECK OUT THIS JEM IN THE APPLE NOTES: Improves compatibility with Microsoft Word and Excel 2004, addressing an issue in which the application could stop responding for several seconds.
Resolves a potential redraw issue in which an application window's scroll bars could appear in the wrong place.

AHHHH I'm SO HAPPY. Lets hope it actually fixed something. NUMBER ONE PET PEEVE WITH TIGER.

Perhaps updating all of its Spotlight stores--notice that new metadata items (like the 'Software' field for TIFF files) are now catalogued. I suspect that it wants to go through other files, too, for other things.

EDIT: Just adding the quote to which I responded
