You can now view RAW files in Preview.app and RAW files show up in the Finder slideshow: that RAW support should also work in any other slideshow capable apps (Mail?), or maybe in iMovie too, although I haven't tried everything yet.

Great system feature.

yeah, i can get the RAW files from my 350D via image capture and view them fine but iphoto still doesn't like them!

Leopard better be better than Tiger

I voted negative on this post and I'm an Apple fan boy from way back. Apple should never have released something as buggy as Tiger was. Yes I know some people never had any issues, but I was not one of those people, nor were many people I know.

I still would prefer Tiger to Windows, and it is infinitely less buggy. It's also a lot better than the bad ol' OS 9 days, but after the release of 10.1 Mac fans began expeccting better. Maybe we're just spoiled.

I did wait it out for 10.4.3 without any BIG hassles, but Leopard really has to be better than this to thrash XP and one day (who knows when, likely after Leopard) Vista/Longhorn. It's not enough to simply be better. Apple has to continue to embarrass Microsoft as they have for the past .

You haven't upgraded yet? What happened? Spent all your money on the wedding and honeymoon trip? :p :D

Yeah, something like that... ;)

Nah, just never had a big driver to switch from Panther. For my needs, it suits me just fine. I think I'll just wait until I buy my new Intel Mac with Leopard preloaded in a couple years...

the combo is all updates in one... so 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 10.4.3 combined into one updater. Standard update would be just 10.4.3... if you are up to date with 10.4.2

This is not how it is working though because there are many people that have updated systems but are only getting the combo option.

PB15 97MB 97MB 97MB
PB12 58MB 58MB 58MB 58MB
D2.0G5 58MB
IB12 97MB 97MB 97MB
ImacG5 97MB 97MB
D2.5G5 58MB
PB17 97MB 97MB
MacMini 97MB 58MB 97MB
IB14 97MB

This is what I have figured... hmmm.....

What's with the random name in the middle of your post?

I would guess that dops7107 is talking about JANET.

Glad to see 10.4.3 -- will have to remember to download it when I get home tonight.

Haha, I guess I am just an upgrade junkie. I couldn't live without some of the Tiger features... lucky me I have a fast connection down here in México or else I'd cry now... :D

I just saw this in the changelog:

X11 windows no longer stay in the background after selecting the X11 application from the Dock or with Application Switcher.

Which I must say its awesome that they finally fix that. You had to double-click the icon since i believe 10.2..

Can anyone with a final revision Ti Powerbook (mine is 1ghz, fyi) confirm wether this fixes the battery capacity issue or not?

Just loaded it on my iBook G4 (12"/1.2GHz) with no issues. Plus, it fixed my wireless issues.

Wireless seems to be working better on my 12" PowerBook as well. I live in a large apartment complex, and before I could only see three networks, now I see five. Plus, Safari is definitely speedier.

dual-core 2.3 reboot

I have a dual-core 2.3. It tried to reboot for ~20min and I got scared, so I hard-rebooted it. Now it still suck in a blue background, round finder busy icon in the middle of the screen on boot. The second boot try has been going for about 25min now.

97MB update pack. My 12" powerbook (56MB) update went perfectly fine. In fact, I am typing this post with it now.

Anyone else encounter such problems? Suggestions? thanks

EDIT: Shutdown computer. Pulled power plug from UPS for 20 seconds. Everything restarted fine. It fact it restarted ultra fast. Like 15 seconds and I am up at my desktop. I had to run Disk Utility to repair 2 illegal filenames....

My Front Row Startup Is Broken Too

ChrisFromCanada said:
Only about 4 minutes from start bong to running on the iBook in my sig. Note its running a 5400RPM HD.

EDIT: **WARNING** Front Row is broken on my iBook.

EDIT 2 : Maybe not completely broken. I may have been something specific to my set-up. Xkeys may have been the culprit.

EDIT 3: It appears Xkeys and Front Row are both working, however the Start Front Row Applescript is broken.
I don't have the Xkeys part installed. And my Front Row won't start any more. Bummer. Anyone know where the fix may surface?:(

After updating i have this on my dock (far left, Terminal)

When I place the mouse over it, it says Java.should I just pull it off or what?

thanks

Okay Fully fixed!

There was never a problem with the front row application it still launches when holding esc. It appears Apple updated applescript. The old applescript launcher I was using was broken.

Use the following code in Script Editor, compile then save as an application bundle and you are golden.

tell application "Front Row"
activate
tell application "System Events" to key code 53
end tell

Something's definitley up with the Disk Utility. I've repaired/verified disk permissions like 6 times already and there are still a lot of things cropping up. Normally it's just2-3 items, but this like A LOT. Anyone else with this problem? Or should I just stop repairing and let it be?

I also noticed that the permissions are all related to widgets, which I only have 4 items enabled...

FLASH is Broken

Does anyone notice that all flash web sites are now messed up with the updated safari?

This sucks

i ran it a bunch, never seemed to stop having things to fix. i'm leaving it alone for now.

Just updated my 15" PB, 97 meg, about 2 megabytes/sec download rate :) Woot...love sitting on 2 gig links to the net...heh..about 1 min download time.

I suspect the 97 meg version may have to do with Xcode, or X11. I don't think I have X11 installed on here yet but I am pretty sure I put Xcode on.

Memory usage looks OK, about 1.42 gig free, 225 meg in use. I noticed a CPU spike at login which looked like mdimport running so Spotlight may have been updated and was doing some adjustments/reindexing (Or maybe it does this on all reboots, I'm an OS X newbie so don't know).

So far so good, it boots at least...and Safari loaded to let me post this, thats about all I can report.

Mighty Mouse driver

Mighty Mouse driver is included in this update. Good update so far for me.

You need to reinstall Flash.

a couple notes:

if you've UNOfied, the highlighted tab in safari doesn't mesh smoothly into the rest of the of window.

also, if you have the item info displayed on the right on your desktop, they increased the column spacing... a lot.

otherwise, so far so good, though.

//edit: my safari install didn't drop flash support.. i had flash 8 installed a while ago though.. i think when it was beta.

whats with all the permissions repairing? It sounds like it needs to be done manually after every update?
