If this happens, I really doubt that it was done on purpose. There just wasn't enough time between the releases for Apple to implement and test any measures to kill the patch. Final release builds have to be tested for at least a few days. I think the timing of these releases was just pure coincidence, or (gasp!) Maxxus's work is some weird and twisted plan of Apple's doing.DPazdanISU said:Same here... maybe the update just kills the maxxus x86 patch![]()

Probably, but I always thought that you needed the restart of the system to, well, restart the system, and start using the upgraded version...Alexander said:The "Optimizing" phase is just redoing the application-library prebindings to improve launch speed. The software is already installed.

It went normally the next time, well a little longer but not too much. This has been happening every time I update Tiger. But I don't see any problems other than that, just a warning to everyone.

I'm responding to myself. Updated. Grabbed a beer. Back up. No problems yet. 11 minutes (or so).geoffism said:Sounds like everything is going pretty well.
If you don't hear from me in 30 mins, send a search dog (one of those Cugo types with a barrel of scotch).

only problem... everything works but itunes through front row... wont play any music... just sits there when i choose a song...
Also...
safari seems to be much faster than before... if thats possible..
Even if Apple stops updating software, that doesn't mean you can't still use the machine. I doubt they will continue making universal binaries for 5 years. I think 3 or 4 years past the release of the last PPC Mac is more realistic. That means around 2009 or 2010.dswoodley said:Five years may be an unacceptably short time table for some owners. that sounds cool! I always like it when apps tend to run faster... I will update my computer today, and hopefully, there won't be any bugs in the software.kjs862 said:Safari seems to be snappier![]()
