ok, did the update, it`s all fine. The only thing (and most expected with this update for me) that i just can`t understand  is why  they only allow nokia 9300i in iSync and not 9300.

They are almost identical phones, 9300i has wireless network adapter. and don`t tell me it was too hard to do it. This is so uncool.

Why won't they work on my LG bluetooth phone.

Took a long time to go from the blue screen immediately after startup to the desktop and bring up the menu bar... It happened but it was a while.

No other problems though

Glad to see I wasn't the only one that happened to. Better not happen every time I turn my MB on.

Also, my MB is still mooing.

10.4.7 Screen seems to have more contrast

It is probably my imagination, but the screen looks like it has more contrast after the re-boot and the icon descriptions in the desktop look sharper. More than likely my imagination.

On what machine ? Are you sure it's not just a re-calibration of color, that's possible I guess.

Yay! Thanks Apple.

This is going to make like much easier. ISP's have been complaining to Apple about this behaviour being disabled for quite a while now. This should definitely reduce a lot of mailbox over quota issues for many people. I don't have time to download the update before I leave for work but I wonder what the default removal time is set to now?

Awesome, now I should hopefully be able to get my friends crap V3 to sync via bluetooth.

Glad to see the SE Sync Issue fixed also as this is also something thats started to happen with the S700i lately :)

Actually this change in Mail behavior is not welcomed by all. Before Apple changed the default setting to off for "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message:" I frequently lost all of my emails that were intentionally saved (backed up) on my server. I am annoyed that this option is now on when new POP Accounts are crated. When any user completes the set up for a new POP Account, Mail automatically begins downloading emails before any user can go to the Advanced Preferences tab and disable this option prior to emails being removed from the server. I suppose the only way to prevent this is to create POP Accounts when the computer is unplugged from a network connection.

The correct thing Apple should have done is to place this option in the set up for POP Accounts. Additionally Mail should not attempt to connect to the server and begin downloading emails immediately after the POP Account settings are configured.

PS. The updates to iSync are completely silly and useless. I hope Apple has plans to add support for more common phones that large numbers of people own. Virtually the entire list of supported phones is composed of completely obsolete handsets and devices.

DON'T do this...by repairing permission according to BOM on the install disc, you can revert permissions to out-of-date ones. Always repair permissions according to the BOMs on your hard drive. Not that it actually does anything most of the time...it's a nice security blanket though.

Where do people continue to get this silly-season stuff? A repair permissions operation *always* uses the information available on the volume you're repairing, *not* on the volume you're booted from.

True, that would have been more appropriate in the mail setup assistant. I assume you are also aware that you can do a manual config by holding option(alt) and clicking the add account button as a workaround?

No Problems here

Working flawlessly for me. No adverse affects with Bootcamp and Vista running.

All is working as expected :) PHEW!!

No support for my Sony Ericsson M600i though :(

WRONG. In 10.4.x, the BOMs on the drive being repaired are the ones refereced, to prevent exactly that problem.

This change may have been in 10.3.x as well, but it's definitely in 10.4.x. Looking for the reference on it....

Still no support for my Windows Mobile Smartphone :(

Try Mark/Space's The Missing Sync. Works great for unsupported PDAs. It's $40 download ($50 if they also ship you a CD,) but it's worth it. I've used it for three PDAs in a row now, and have never had a problem. Heck, unlike iSync, it reminds you that you haven't synced in a while, and has a status menu item that gives you quick access.

Downloaded and installed with no problems to Mail IMAP accounts or anything else so far.

Someone complained about not fixing spacing on desktop icons for 6 updates. I still can't believe the French software update still says "Installation de Installation de [...]" (basically the equivalent of saying "Installing installing [...]") every time it updates anything. Oh well.

Based on my scanning, you are both correct. Guess there's a lot of misinformation out there, including in our own MacGuides article on the topic. Thanks for setting me straight.

Since permissions are repaired based on the BOMs of the target disk, there is of course no good reason to repair permissions from the install disc anyway unless things are so screwed up on your machine that you are unable to do it while booted.

my mbp seems to be running a bit better. there's no lag when i open non rosetta programs anymore. On 10.4.6 my computer would lock up for about a half second when using tigerlaunch but no there's no delay. So as far as I see the computer seems to be smoother.
