NO WORRIES?????

The update obviously turned your Quad G5 2.5GHz machine with 8GB of RAM into a dual 1.67 GHz with only 2 GB RAM. I'd be worried as heck! :D

I nearly spit orange juice out of my nose on that one! Thanks for the laugh!

I'm the owner of a white macbook with 2GB of RAM,

First the bad news,

the whine is still there, and I can hear it even after starting Photobooth (which used to fixed the issue before), but it now sounds like something's frying inside the AC.

Worrisome... very worrisome.

Oh brother. Does anyone know how to flash the update back to 10.4.6? Cuz the CPU whine got significantly worse (i had to bump QuietMBP from 150 to 100).

ok, that does it... I am NOT installing this update until I know more!!

The whine issues could be related to 10.4.7 being more efficient with CPU usage, no?

Also, try exchanging your adapter - worked for me to eliminate the whine.

I'm going to hold off upgrading until I'm back in town. I hate to do a major upgrade on the road.

I haven't read the whole thread, but do you know what the app
/System/Library/CoreServices/VerifiedDownloadAgent.app
is doing ? Did it exist with 10.4.6 ?

I wonder why Apple doesn't mention the trackpad driver upgrade

As has been noted here, the native two-finger-tap-to-perform-a-right-click driver is part of the 10.4.7 upgrade. I wonder why Appple doesn't mention a thing about it in the software description.

Anyway, happy to have it as part of the OS, although John the Geek's driver replacement worked fine.

Mail

POP accounts you create will no longer begin with the "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message..." preference setting turned off.

Yay! Thanks Apple.

This is going to make like much easier. ISP's have been complaining to Apple about this behaviour being disabled for quite a while now. This should definitely reduce a lot of mailbox over quota issues for many people. I don't have time to download the update before I leave for work but I wonder what the default removal time is set to now?

Syncing

Improves support for Motorola cell phones that sync via iSync and Bluetooth

Addresses an issue for Mac OS X 10.4.6 in which you might not be able to sync via iSync 2.2 with Sony Ericsson k700i or S700i phones.

Awesome, now I should hopefully be able to get my friends crap V3 to sync via bluetooth.

Glad to see the SE Sync Issue fixed also as this is also something thats started to happen with the S700i lately :)

Seems to run cooler

Seems to run cooler than before. (Maybe a lot cooler) Fans run, but that's okay with me.

2-finger tap is great.

Awesome !

So I guess safari will remain the slowest browser on the planet with poor multimedia capability? I hate that my $299 Dell with IE surfs the web 25% faster then my mac. Hate it.

Yes. Safari is much faster!!!!

Who said it wasn't?

Black MacBook

133mb, machine making NO moo noises, no whines... But then it wasnt with 10.4.6 either so I don't know what my point is :p

Was there no graphics driver updates with this release, strange as usually there's always one with the new update.

Just finished, 7 minute download, 2-3 minute install and 4 minutes to reboot. All seems well on my trusty G4 iBook.

BTW, why doesn't my start up disk show in the 'About ...' box?

Looks like the scrolling bug in Safari pertaining to some embedded flash content (where flash content would lag slightly behind the rest of the page when scrolled) introduced in Flash 8 seems to have been fixed - finally. (FWIW, I'm using the latest beta of Flash 9)

The issue didn't seem to effect mozilla based browsers.

It's new and part of the 10.4.7 update:
"You can now verify whether or not a Dashboard widget you downloaded is the same version as a widget featured on (www.apple.com) before installing it.

There is also:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin

How did you change the Apple logo in your "About this Mac" window?

Just an update on my IMAP problems... I booted from my backup HD under 10.4.6 and it works fine. So I am quite confused as to why there are problems under 10.4.7. Oh well.

I am using IMAP on 10.4.7 with no problems at all. The only action taken after the reboot was that I selected "Change All" on my keychain when prompted.
