Itunes Visualiser

Anyone else noticed post-update that the itunes visualiser gfx are a lot faster - I don't mean the frame rate, I mean that the patterns are actually moving/drawing a lot faster???

I don't think it's the "snappier" placebo effect either - there's a really big difference on my machine - it looks great.

Oh well.

Still no BB support.

I formatted and reinstalled OS X... then Updated right to 10.4.7 right from scratch...

Everything works perfectly... no issues :D

Sleep problems?

After applying the update my PowerMac G4 mirrored drive doors will not goto sleep. Just sits there with fans running and the screen on, but black.

ARGH! Worked fine before 10.4.7.

Icon spacing on desktop, etc.

It took them this long to get it right?

Yeah, unfortunately! Makes me wonder if/when they'll ever get some of the other annoying small details right, too.

I've logged in to my PowerMac only to find icons all shifted around from where I had them for months and months before. It doesn't usually happen unless you have a pretty full desktop. But you'll get such nonsense as your hard drive icons moving themselves arbitrarily from the top-right corner of the screen to scattered amongst other icons in the middle of the desktop.

One of my other pet-peeves is the subtle "timing" issues that seem to be present with the whole procedure of clicking to highlight, and then single-clicking to rename a file or folder, or clicking a highlighted group of files and holding down the mouse button to drag them all someplace. This is something Windows got right, and OS X still has "glitches" with. Once in a while, I try to drag a selected group of items to the trash or to another folder, and instead of doing it - it immediately de-selects the entire highlighted group except for the item under my mouse pointer, and tries to drag just that one item. Frustrating!

Two updates to go 'til Leopard.

10.4.7 could be the last or we could see
10.4.8
10.4.9
10.4.10
10.4.11 and so on. As many as it takes to get it right.

OS X revision numbers while expressed in decimal notation are not decimal numbers! OS.major.minor

I don't know if its just me, but I use a program Quiet MBP to silence my MBP (simlar to photoboot method) and since the update, I have had to increase its setting (decrease the slider, decreasing the rest between uses). I know have to run it at 100 instead of 150 to get silence (meaning 50 miliseconds less rest).

ANyone else notice this?

IIRC, Mail had a 1.9.11 or something whatever version.

I'm back up and running...reboot took four minutes on my 1.67 GHz PB. A little bit of concern about the length of time it spent on the blue screen, but the desktop eventually came up. Safari now at 2.0.4...haven't had a chance to look around at anything else.

First restart after an update is always slow. Restart again and you will see the usual fast start.

Try A Safe Boot

Software update said the installation failed so I pressed quit and then it wouldn't open again so I tried rebooting my intel imac 20" and now it's been stuck on the white screen with the apple logo and the spinning thing for about an hour.

Press and hold the shift key while booting up. This might solve your problem. If it does not you may want to boot from Tiger Install DVD and run disk first aid. Do NOT repair permissions while booted from the Tiger Install DVD. If that does not work then you might try Disk Warrior or reinstall.

OH PLEASE GOD, NOT THE REVISION NUMBER DISCUSSION AGAIN!!!!

Why did you format and re-install ?

Is this a windows habit you still have ?

Logictech

I have a Logitech 6 button wired mouse. After the last update I lost the function to be able to bring up Application Switcher with a button. I hoped this update would restore that convenient feature-but it didn't.

Photoshop and AFP

Anyone else seen positive results from the AFP fix for Photoshop?
Preliminary tests seems to indicate it is fixed. Can't tell you how happy I am about that. 10.4.6 would crash repeatedly when saving Photoshop files to our server.

What's with all the negatives???

So, according to the poll at the top of this thread, something like 85% of users either "Don't notice a difference" or "Fixed a major feature" with this upgrade.

And only 4% encountered "major issues".

So why all the negative ratings? Is it some disaffected Dell stockholder with a "click negative" scriptbot? Or are you guys a bunch of whiners? :D

this may have been said earlier but i didnt want to read every page. ive noticed that quicktime easily plays my AVI files now.....thats nice :)
