Do you see any applications that reference Java 6 ( or 1.6 ) in their file names?

Following up, why are the moral police even reading mac rumours: a lot of the concrete rumours are from people who break their NDAs or other agreements to provide the juicy rumours in the first place!

The moral police should be avoiding mac rumours ( and other rumour sites ) like the plague!!

i think its cause they have to do it somewhere. They are very harsh about how they come about it, and really they should get the same back towards them for being so harsh. but doing that makes you no different then them. i will save up and buy it when the time comes

Overall I have to say that upgrading my Macbook went much more smoothly than on my iMac. I dont know why as I keep both machines in sync. On my iMac I had to reconfigure indexing, restart finder one time (on first boot), reboot once to make RSS import in Mail from Safari work. Maybe it was because I upgraded very light in the night :)
Overall I am very happy. This is a worthy update. Quick view is great, the new Finder much better than before, Coverflow is amazing, Spaces helps a lot and Time Machine seems cool (havent tested thoroughly). My favorite app is Mail!
It has Tasks, Notes, RSS, HTML templates and it is faster! It also has a new indicator on the low left corner of the screen displaying the current activity

What really impressed me that on my iMac my FTP Server worked after the upgrade, without changing anything. All in all, this is surely the best version of Mac OS X

Hi everyone.
I wanted to share my experience on my MacBook (2.0/2Gb/160Gb) and this leaked leopard...

1. Dock is obviously SLOWER in leopard (animation isn't smooth as in tiger, gaps are very notable)
2. Spotlight working great - extremly fast
3. Coverflow - great perfomance
4. Networking - my Vista PC is NOT visible in Finder as it is in Tiger (all settings are made, trying to figure it out)
5. And this is something that makes me worry - my macbook goes into "cpu fan-mode" much much more often then in tiger - it makes me think that battery life would be notably shorter in leopard
6. Some strange behaviour in Finder when changing View Properties - if you use "Back" button the folder you're getting to may show "corrupted view" - that's strange
7. iTunes and Safari - very fast loading
8. New icon for Frontrow :)) - cosy red chair :)
9. Strange behaviour while editing properties of created via Safari widget - in my case it became two times smaller after pressing "i" button and never showed controls again :)

new
10. I can't believe it - nice sliders allowing user to change the amount of effects in Photobooth are now gone (as it was in 559 build ((( )
11. iPhoto launches much faster then in Tiger - no need to be genious to guess the same story for Pages - you may definetly see for which version of Mac Os X it's been developed

Spotlight speed

I just made a spotlight search on my Macbook. There was a short delay of maybe 3 to 5 ms and then BOOM. All results were there! Amazing!!!

I hope you wont be questioned now where you found this copy. :)

How fast does Finder file search work? Under 10.4 its really slooowww - are there improvements?

Thanks.

Me too :) But I hope that there's gonna be more user experiences in this thread so that I could finally decide weather I should keep my leopard on external FireWire drive as I do now or upgrade my macbook and switch to it from Tiger

The macbook you buy on Friday will have a leopard installation disc in the box.
It will probably have Tiger preinstalled so you will have to upgrade your macbook to leopard when you get home.

Just give an idea of different machine install speed:

It took exactly 35 minutes to install from an old I-pod photo onto a macbook 2.16Ghz Core2Duo, 1GB RAM.

Edit: I used the 'upgrade' method, not 'clean' install as it were.

Petvas,

Is it true that the leaked build you are using does not have the bootcamp drivers included? This is what I read on some other forums.
See attachments. This is the full retail version. No difference with the one we are getting from Apple

Something I dont like about Spaces is the shortcut key. Its F8. Great if you have a Macbook ( I have) but if you own the aluminum keyboard F8 is used for volume control!
I have this keyboard on my iMac, so I reconfigured Spaces to use F6
On my Macbook its still F8

its a bit of inconsistency here.

It's always been that way on the laptops. In settings change your volume and display keys to only work using the Function (FN) key. Then all of your fkeys work and to turn up the volume, you just hold the FN key and hit the volume key.

Yar, the illegal PIRATED version you are using might still have a few bugs that won't be in the final version.

doubt it... I'm sure apple will throw out some patches on Friday night to fix any bugs since gold mastering

:) nice point of view but I think my illegal version should better act like the most wonderful peace of software on earth - and if it is I will definately pay for it... but as for now I am very dissapointed with the perfomance of all interface-related operations - window movements, QuickTime going fullscreen, scrolling, dock etc... it has gaps!!! I can't believe it and hope this is gonna be fixed (I think this is related to Intel GMA graphics on my MacBook and users with normal video-cards won't have such problems)

I certainly hope this is the case.
Especially with the CS3 (Photoshop). I need CS3 to work properly.
