Mac Pro 8800gt Are Shipping!

Has anyone not in America gotten their computer shipped yet? I'm wondering whether Apple has to receive the cards in America, flash them, then ship them out to their international stores, or whether the cards went directly abroad and they're flashing them there.

I ordered mine at a blazing 12:15 AM JST time on the 9th and have not received my notice yet, even though it's actually noonish over here right now.

i called and said that i ordered my MP Jan 11th and that people are reporting that their computers are already shipping and that they have the same exact configs, the lady on the phone said the only thing she could do was refund me $25 and ii asked her if thats all she could do, and if i could speak to a supervisor and she said she could add overnight, just tell them how frustrated you are with all the wait and if that doesnt work ask for a supervisor

It's not exactly an ethical thing to do. Apple has shipped these well before they promised to.

My theory, (which is 100% speculation and could be 100% wrong,) is that 10.5.2 went gold master, and that they don't have any imaged drives with 10.5.2 and iWork on them, so there will be a small delay until mine ships. I don't think I'll sleep very well tonight though. :(

That's not the issue because I sure didn't add iWork.

I also bought 3rd party RAM - from transintl - 4 x 2GB sticks that I bought for $380. Ideally I would like to run the machine for a few days before adding anything to it so that if there's a problem, I know it has nothing to do with anything I've done. 4GB will definitely make this easier on me.

Also, in case I have any trouble in the future with this machine, and I get a replacement from Applecare, I'd like it to be with a bit more RAM than the standard 2GB. However, with 12GB total I don't think I'll ever need to add more RAM.. that may be a pipe dream but there you go.

Ahh! Mine still hasn't shipped even though I ordered on the 10th! I guess it's because I used a student discount :(
 
exspes, a few people who ordered with the education discount said that theirs have shipped already.

be patient, i'm sure we will all have our machines shipped within a day or two. ;)

Well that gives me hope. I think I may go insane with all this waiting. Everytime I compress video footage now I keep thinking "If I had my mac pro this would go 20x faster".. yargh.

Despite Chase Credit Card's unwanted and unwarranted "fraud protection" that refused my payment, my quick calls to both Chase and Apple seem to have rectified the situation.

I´m from Finland and Apple.com is still saying "Not Yet Shipped". I think it takes some time to arrive here in North! :D

Gotta kill some time with polarbears! ;)
 
Now that I got the official "shipping" message from Apple (FedEx Ground should be here Friday :D:D ), I just placed an order for 4 gigs (2x2) of memory from OWC. ($219.99). Ground shipping will be here with it some time next week.

I also ordered one 750 gig Western Digital (AAKS) HDD from Newegg for $154.99. Not a bad deal. Hoping to see it arrive Friday. If not, then Monday.

This 750 gig drive will go into the Mac Pro, along with a 500 gig Seagate, 400 gig WD, and 74 gig Raptor (the latter three being pulled from my custom-built PC). The stock garbage 8 meg cache 320 gig drive will be pulled from the system and relegated to backup duty, along with an external 160 gig PATA drive. Maybe somewhere down the line I'll sell the 400 gig and replace with another 750. But for now, 750+500+400+74 (~1.7 terabytes) internal should do me just fine for now.

** Congratulations to EVERYONE who got their 8800GT Mac Pros shipped today!!!! ** :D:D:D

Hrmm...

Ordered on Jan 25th with everything stock except 500GB HD and 8800 GT. Still "Ships by: Feb 15"; "Delivers by: Feb 21".
