I ordered on Jan 10th so I had some leg to stand on...doesn't hurt to ask. Just tell them your friends ordered after you and theirs is shipping, and that you all ordered the same machine. Worked for me.
Well, I just called Apple about my order and asked what's up, mentioning many reports of shipment notifications, orders that were placed after mine (with same custom configuration, even) and got a free 2 day shipping out of it (it was the free 5 day option before) after the customer support guy went to ask his supervisor about the situation, heh.
Other than that they couldn't tell me anything about the status of my order or why others are being shipped already. He tried to tell me that others might have a different configuration and/or different parts and that my order was faxed to China (wut? What about Fullerton?).
Siiigh, the wait continues.
Edit: Was writing while pfleischman posted and I basically did the same thing, with the exception that I got 2 day shipping instead of next day.

Still say "Not Yet Shipped" for me (ordered 1/19, shipping 2/20). I envy those that have theirs coming to them now, but I can't get that upset when folks that ordered day 1 haven't gotten anything yet.
That being said, I REALLY wish I'd get something today telling me that my MP is on the way to its new home!

I did something similar. Does your order still show standard shipping? They said it got bumped to next day but my order still shows "Standard shipping". Just want to make sure I'm not the only one.

Mine was changed while I was still on the phone. Standard Shipping -> 2 Day, you should call and make sure it gets changed.
I'm starting to think that it might be the 500GB HD which causes the delay of our order. I have the exact same configuration and I'm still waiting as well. Other people with the configuration, minus the bigger HD, have shipment notifications. >_<
I ordered on the day of release...Jan 8th...and it still hasn't shipped yet. Though, I did bump the drive to 500 gigs. But, really how damn hard is it to swap a harddrive.

Well, they have to wait for the 500GB HD to be shipped from newegg, eBay the old 320GB drive and take extra cash profit to the bank to deposit.
Exactly. I'd rather have the new drive installed and ready to go. I want to use my machine the day I get it.

I ordered mine at noon on January 8th. Only 'upgrades' were the memory card and Airport. Called Apple and was told there was a problem getting something (vague...nothing specific) and that it was scheduled to ship on the 12th! I mentioned I wasn't too happy since I got emails from friends - whom I had told/bragged that I had ordered my computer, thus letting them know that the upgrades were available - and they are all getting theirs earlier than I!
Apple is coming through by expediting my shipping, so...

Just called Apple... very nice rep (sexy voice girl) on the phone. She didn't know much about the shipping issue so I've let her know. At first she tough it was the fact that I ordered different specs, but I've let her know that it was not the case. She told me she would keep an eye on my account, would check with some Managers if things wouldn't move in the next days and she upgraded my shipping from 8-9 days to 2-3 days.

No change on my shipping yet, but checking with Chase I saw a pending charge and when I called them they told me the Apple charge had cleared (I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to trigger fraud protection and fail). No change on my shipping yet, but I'm hopeful!
