Hehe, at least it's getting some attention and maybe it'll speed up the shipping process a bit.

Call and complain about how that person made you feel?

Amazing. Just amazing.

The fact of the matter is that this is UNFAIR treatment. I know in your world Apple is like a brother/God to you, and can do no wrong, but it is entirely unacceptable that:

1) People who ordered after others with the same BTO options are getting their computers sooner.
2) Some people are getting free expedited shipping, some are getting free overnight air, and others are getting anywhere between 25-100 off.
3) In his own words, he had a miserable experience with that customer service representative which left him feeling bad. Always unacceptable.

The fair and right thing to do is to extend the same benefits to everyone who has been wronged here. This wouldn't even be an issue if Apple didn't insist on using special firmware which shouldn't even be required. They made their bed, we've waited months for this, and now we're all going to lie in it together.

I really doubt that your government discount is bigger than the student ADC discount. This came to 2379:

Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeo
2GB (2x1GB)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb
One 16x SuperDrive
AirPort Extreme Card (Wi-Fi)
APPLE WIRELESS MIGHTY MOUSE
WIRELESS KEYBD/ OS X
Country Kit

I'm thinking about maybe calling and getting overnight now. No, I have no shame. :(

That is crazy cheap!! This is what I paid with my gov discount.

I cant beleave it's like 500 cheaper.

It's either the HDD or the discount

Okay, now I'm getting slightly ticked that people who ordered 3 weeks after me are getting their computer shipped.

Could people who are having their MP ship say when they ordered, ¿por favor?

I'm pretty sure it's either the HDD upgrade or the discount that is adding to the delay. I have ordered on Jan 10th and it's still not yet shipped, Ships by Feb 15th, Delivers by Feb 21st. Upgraded the HDD to 500 Gb and used a corporate discount.

Nice... half the folks at MR waiting are getting shipping notices and package updates, etc..

Of course, I would be on the other half. Not mad, just envious. :D

I don't think this is what he thinks... he's been really rational about all this commotion. You have to keep in mind that this is an unfair world with human beings working at Apple... from this, depending on the rep and his/her supervisor... you get different approaches.

In fairness, it was 2479, but I just got 100 dollars knocked off by complaining (thanks Apple!)

What I found most interesting about the ADC discount was how the Mac Pro was far and away the best deal. I think for the Macbooks, MacBook Air and MacBook pro the savings was between 10 and 100 dollars, regardless of how expensive the computer was.

I may have inferred incorrectly, but I seemed to think he was aghast at the thought of someone complaining to customer service that they didn't like the customer service they had just received.

If you don't like the treatment, if you feel you've been treated unfairly, complain.

How is that possible that your total is only $2379?!?
The base 2.8 price for the Mac Pro with Student discount is $2599, without any upgrades.

Hah, didn't think my comment would get that much attention. Most of that was in jest (aka sarcasm), but it does suck that Apple is shipping out orders of those (of the same configuration) who ordered earlier than I did. I'll probably call back and try again. I'm trying to be firm, but not an overt prick. The last thing I need is for them to ship my MP out last!

The "ADC Student" discount is cheaper than the regular student discount.

Hey props for you getting such a good deal.

Son, THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE GREASE. Don't ever forget that.

Apple has kept all of it's 8800 promises to those of us that have ordered. There isn't a person on this board that was quoted a shipment date prior to 13 Feb when they placed their order--any they placed their order knowing that. The endless whining about it got old. It's a computer.

I know a lot of the users here are college kids. That kind of behavior is expected from young people, but from working adults? It's disgusting. Fairness? Anyone beyond the age of 20 knows damn well that life isn't fair.

It's plainly unethical to call and complain about things until Apple breaks their word. If your shipping date comes and goes without the computer shipping, then you have a good reason to call and complain.

Some of us used the Student ADC discount. I got the following configuration for $2,455.00 ($2,645.27 after CA tax):

Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeo
2GB (2x1GB)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb
One 16x SuperDrive

APPLE WIRELESS MIGHTY MOUSE
WIRED KYBRD/MAC OS X

It's not the hard drive. I ordered everything standard except added the wireless card and upgraded to the 8800 graphics card. Still hasn't shipped. Also not the ADC discount because someone posted a few pages back in this thread and their computer is shipping and they got the ADC discount.

How about we all calm down a little bit and let Apple focus on what's important, namely shipping all the backordered MacPro's, as opposed to dealing with our complaints.

If Apple has guaranteed a ship date for you that has gone by and nothing has happened, then call them and complain. But if not: do you have any idea what kind of logistical nightmare it must be for them to deal with all these backorders of custom-configured machines? I trust they have worked on an efficient way to work off the backlog, which collectively is in our interest, right?

It hasn't even been 24 hours since the first reports of an 8800GT MacPro shipping surfaced here, so the order in which they have worked so far has extremely little impact on actual wait times. If this went on for a few days, I could better understand your anger, but to claim that you were treated unfairly, just because somebody else's order was shipped a few hours (yes, not days, hours!!!) ago is just ridiculous. Your's may ship, too, before the day is over.

I want my new MacPro to arrive as badly as you guys do, but let's be realistic...

I have no interest in sitting idly by while those around me are getting discounts and free shipping upgrades, content to know that my sense of morality is pious and whole.

Apple chose to make this situation the way it is, I've chosen to improve it to the best of my ability.

It's not the hardware, it's not the software, it's not the discount that may or may not have been applied.

It appears random, which means there's a factor involved that isn't available to us. My guess is that it has to do with payment method. I vaguely recall something about how quickly certain types of payment would clear as opposed to others.

I wonder if it has to do with alphabetical order? Anyone care to post their last initial?

I called Apple, and they agreed to expedite the shipping for no charges! I should get it on the 29th of february instead of the 6th of march...

Great start!
