Just did the same thing. Seems that's their standard, "Stop calling us!" line, but saves me 6 days and the ~$65 it would've cost. Still hasn't shipped, but now it's supposed to ship "by" Feb. 14 and get here Feb. 15.

Just in case anyone else does this, mine still doesn't show it on my order but she said it's Next Day in the system and can take a day or two to show on the order.

Grrr. Oh well, I will be patient. My RAM and HDDs haven't arrived yet and the last piece of my new desk won't be here until the end of the month. So, I can live without it for a few more days.

Mine showed right away, too. I don't see why it would take a day or two to show in the order.

Yeah, 'cause it means by next Friday instead of two weeks :). And I needed it before Feb. 20, not on it because there's a lunar eclipse that day and I need to have this computer up and running to process all my photos (ended up having 12 GB of photos and final product last time).
 
I called last night and got free expedited shipping. When I read that everyone here was getting 25 off and free overnight, I called back again today. She didn't give me free overnight shipping but she DID give me 100 dollars off. :eek: I was pretty surprised and pleased to see that, even if I don't have overnight shipping.

Coupled with the ADC discount and I might have paid less for this than anyone. :cool:

Hm, I upgraded my stock HD and got AirPort card - I guess that's what's killing me right now. Still no changes in shipping :(

But I did call and got it changed to next day, so with any luck it'll still ship within the next few days and arrive before my original shipping estimate of the 15th.

For all you who are getting your machines: I want glamor shots of those 8800's!!

I guess I was not angry enough. There's actually nothing serious about all that, I'm not going to harass Apple people because others got better deals.

I basically called, calmly explained that people who ordered after me are getting there computer's before me, and that other people on this forum had been getting 25 dollars off and next day air while I only got expedited shipping. I said that I didn't think it was fair, and I asked for 25 dollars off and next day air. She checked with her supervisor, said she couldn't do anything about the shipping (which I don't understand) and gave me 100 dollars off.

If I were an even bigger prick I'd now call back again and get next day air from a different person/department, but even I have my limits. :D

Dude, grow a pair and don't take no for an answer. Call a different department and complain about how that person made you feel. You won't be lying and they'll go out of their way to make it up to you.

Next day shipping is aprox $67 so i'll settle for that. So you made $33 more than me, but I used my gov employee discount.
 
Still no change here, it's either the ADC select or the airport card that's killing me here. Which is rediculous that they couldn't have these machines ready to go regardless of configuration when we've had to wait a month. The fact that I ordered day 1 is what's ticking me off here. When people who ordered almost a month later are getting theirs now and apple even says "They are shipping on first come first serve."

Bah. All I can hope is that it changes status later today and ships out so I can get it tomorrow. Otherwise it'll be next week at the earliest for me.
 
I just called as well, as I ordered Jan 8th, and wanted to see how they responded. This is my first Apple, so I'm nervous anyway. The rep quoted my original ship date (Feb 13), but said it might ship sooner....he did give me expedited business delivery as a way of getting it here faster, so that was nice....I'm getting obsessed with this waiting now that it's close..hard to concentrate on work! Anyone have some spare anti-anxiety pills?

I really doubt that your government discount is bigger than the student ADC discount. This came to 2379:

I just contacted Apple myself. I had ordered my MP on 1/10 with the 8800GT and the wi-fi, standard shipping. I was about as polite as I could be and the gal bumped it to 2-3 day shipping. Funny thing is, she said I was the 6th person she had talked to about this.

Everybody who ordered the MP with the 8800GT should call and get the Apple "fast pass". :D
 
Something I forgot to mention. The rep went on the online order options and she saw that if she ordered NOW the same computer I ordered on Jan 28th, it would show 2-4 days before to get shipped. Only that is really frustrating when you are kept in the dark not knowing what is going on with your past order.
