Maybe Apple was waiting for processors, GPUs, etc...

but they have demonstrated lousy support for their professional users.

I would consider switching back to PCs if this becomes a trend.

Well, they are waiting. Waiting for Penryn to be released on 11/12, and GPUs, which I believe the latest nVidia was released yesterday. Waiting on Penryn, waiting on Apple. .... 11/13

I assume that Apple (and other OEM's) get this stuff before the "street dates"... so don't give up hope just yet!

I too am playing the waiting game... ca' maaaann! lol

This update will happen. It has too. MacBooks just had their silent update which is great news. It was earlier than expected. Hopefully MacPros will be updated either the 6th, or the 13th.

Noooooooooooo. (And that's not a Darth Vader Episode III, "Noooooooo." lol) Does that mean you're not gonna get the MacPro when it comes out? Do what I did, buy both. haha. I bought my MacBook in September, now just waiting of the MacPro. Do it. Do it. lol
It was either a MacBook + Gaming rig or a Mac Pro.

I already have 2 GB of RAM for a MacBook, I need an iSight, and Apple Care is cheaper for it.

I won't settle for anything less then a Q6600 though.

Makes sense. Plus, your using Mac for Gaming of course right? I need all the power I can get for Video Production. lol
I only play Sims 2 on my Mac as it is.

I'll get the one of later expansions to enable multi-threaded OpenGL as well.

There's some software on SourceForge that'll work for me in Windows for my encoding purposes. Visual Hub works wonders in OS X.

Haha, same here - got my MBP end of September... and will run down to the Apple Store the day the new MP's arrive...!

The wait is killing me... I'm 50/50 Mac and PC now, and trying to make the switch over to 100% Macs... and dump this WinXP box I'm on for good! ;)

Yea, I gotta order online since I'm adding a bunch of things to it, I want the best graphics option and bluetooth. I was 50/50 4 years ago, now I'm 100% Mac. Had so many issues with PCs. I'm just glad I can now run XP on a Mac and play all the old games I use to play.

I'm just noticing under all the computers EXCEPT the MacPro, they all state they are shipping with a pre-installed Leopard at the top of the screen in big bold letters lol. Looks like we will see the MacPro update soon.

I am guessing hoping that they aren't bothering to preinstall 10.5 on any of the MacPros because the update is so close. They have gotten Intels before eevryone else, and according to other rumors did buy up all the new ones they could so hopefully they will be ready to go shortly. I bet they know there will be a retty decent run on them when they are finally released so they want to have a decent stock before the official announcement.

I hope so. I need a new comp sooo bad and have been holding off in the hopes that the new MacPros would be coming out soon. Of course I have been biting my nails on it since May, I am at my elbow now.

Is it ever any indication that an update is imminent when the Refurb store has ton of refurbished models for sale? Right now there are more refurb Mac Pros for sale than I've ever seen. Hopefully that's a good sign!

I've noticed the recent glut of refurbs as well, and I hope that's a good omen.

Any chance the prices on the refurbs will drop once the new Mac Pros hit the streets? I'm still debating whether I want to buy a Mac Pro or a 24" iMac, but if I could find a quad 2.66 GHz Mac Pro at a substantially reduced price once the new ones come out, I'd probably jump on it.

Yes overall, all other hardware has been updated (especially the Macbook, sadly once again not really meant for gaming) and Leopard is out. If signs really show that the Mac Mini will be cut off and replaced, then hopefully that'll mean a big announcement for the Mac Pro since its been way over due for a make over or major internal overhaul. If you really want to run Vista (nor should you) then you really need video cards that support DX10, you can't be way behind on something of that nature.

Sadly I do believe we'll be waiting till Mac World in Jan '08 for any signs of the new updated Mac Pro (but I still hope that the mid-Nov rumors will be true since the new Intel chips will be publicly released on Nov 12th.

Hope we don't have to wait until Jan, other wise I might try and stretch it till Nehalem comes through next August.

See, that's what's stupid, Nehalem is right around the corner come January, they might as well just wait until then if they are gonna update the MacPro. That's why Apple needs to release Penryn in November. Chips will be 2 months old by January. If they wait until January for Penryn, they should just hold off for Nehalem. lol

and now it says leopard. oh snap.
Though I believe updates are very very near. I wonder if they will design a new black and silver aluminum case....I wonder if there will be a built in 20" monitor on the side of the case...just kidding. I wonder if anyone here on the forums is rich enough and generous enough to buy one for a certain poor college student...I wonder if they will bring the price down while significantly updating the internals like they have on the past few computer updates they have done:apple:

They all now say Leopard-
Product page/tech spec
Store/ included software

But here's an interesting note:
The refurb store have kept pushing out machines.
This morning there are even more...Maybe that's a sign for a Nov. 6th update.:D

Yea, it says Leopard ships there, but it doesn't say pre-installed here...
