Can I get leaker status yet and be cited as an “in the know”?

No 13” to start with - there are two 13” MBP models at the moment, 8th gen Intel Processors and 10th gen. The 10th gen will still be the top end 13” MBP, then entry level 8th gen will be replaced with AS.

Next year the 14” MBP will replace the 10th Gen Intel models. I suspect the entry level 13” MBP with AS will stay around as a cheaper option like it currently is.

They won’t, this story is wrong. 16” MBP will be an Intel refresh. There will be two lower end 13” MacBooks with Apple Silicon, and top end 13” MacBook Pro with Intel will stay too.

Apart from the premium 13” Intel MBP will still exist - the AS is only replacing the entry level models.

A mixture of what the leakers who can be trusted have said, what we’ve seen in Big Sur code and common sense about where they actually will be in the Apple Silicon line.

I’ll give you £200 if Intel aren’t still the top end 13” and 16” MBP after the 10th November. The lower end 13” MBP was left untouched in the summer still using Intel 8th Gen processors so it could be upgraded first. It all makes sense form both a PR, business, econmics and customer service stand point. Apple aren’t going to replace 6 month old machines with new ones and chips that beat the top end of what Intel have to offer (and specifically graphics) wont be ready yet.

Also they can introduce the low end machines into the market where they have the advantage (power efficiency) and the uptake helps get all the apps converted over so when the more serious machines do arrive the system is more mature from a software stand point too. The 16” is likely to become Apple Silicon when it’s refreshed with Mini LED probably around this time next year - and they won’t want to be selling the same 16” MBP from November 2019 by then, hence a small Intel refresh for the 16” MBP 2020.

THIS IS A JOKE!!
pure, undenaible JOKE 🤣🤣LOL 😂

only two ports on pro?? So we just buy more eco-friendly adapters?? or is it just another "lower-end" Pro with touch bar so boomers can show off in starbucks..??
I liked how to told us how they are using AI to improve image quality of the camera without saying if it was 1080p..and I was like..yep...still old camera..not sure what the ipad pros have since i don't have one.

The newly announced MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models that Apple announced today are equipped with the same 8-core M1 chip that also offers an integrated GPU, with Apple offering no CPU upgrades.

macbook-air-m1-models.jpg

There is, however, a GPU upgrade available for the MacBook Air. By default, the MacBook Air ships with an M1 chip with a 7-core GPU, while the MacBook Pro has the same M1 chip with an 8-core GPU.

If you choose the $1,249 MacBook Air model with a 512GB SSD, it upgrades to an 8-core GPU instead of the default 7-core GPU, but there is no custom configuration option to choose the lower tier model with the upgraded 8-core GPU option.

Both the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro can be customized with more RAM and more storage space. The Mac mini also has the same M1 chip with 8-core GPU as the MacBook Pro with no GPU/CPU upgrade option available. The new models are available today and will start shipping out next week.

I'll have to be "that guy", I am afraid. Why can't the MacBook Pro support 32GB?

Yea the touch bar was a waste but then again..they were not going for a redesign anyways. I still dont see the difference between the air and pro or clock speeds or gpu type compared to amd 5500m etc etc..except the pro having touch bar, fan and touch id...weight almost same..
Waste? I run my day using the touch. BetterTouchBar and Keyboard Maestro and its pretty amazing what you can do with it.

Interesting way to structure the lineup. I'm honestly surprised there isn't a little bit more to differentiate the Pro from the Air (no ProMotion :() but I can see a clear direction to the structure. Likely an M2 or M1X coming next year to replace the Intel chips in the high-end 13" and 16" MBPs.
I was thinking the same thing!

My guess is the Air will be throttled in case a certain temperature reached and pro won’t be prone to that. They mentioned on the pro, we’d be enjoying the full speed at all times *or something similar

MBP looks great. 2.8 x faster than the 13" MBP with a 1.7GHz quad‑core i7
They tested this with Xcode,Ninja, and CMake
If we see that 2.8 x increase in GB5 too, we get >10000
