After installing my SSD I've ended up with my HDD being called 'Untitled'. Can I just rename it?

^^ Well I went into the hd>users>me> no documents :(

I have Desktop, downloads, library, music, and pictures in there though? i dunno. I really dont wanna reinstall but....

Well, if there was nothing in it, you don't have to reinstall, you can simply rename a new folder "Documents" and place it in the same user directory. However, it will not have that fancy icon. If you're stickler for that, and I know some are, you must reinstall, sorry.* :(

*I maybe wrong, however, and the OS might actually replace the icon automatically.

Sometimes when my finger is laid more horizontal, the trackpad doesn't respond. Maybe its just me but is anyone else getting that?

I am curious about what people's Xbench/Geekbench scores are. Mine are 127.10/3141.
What exactly do these mean?

I bought my new Unibody MacBook on Wednesday. Although I have researched and waited and researched, I still made a personal shopping reservation because i had some clarifying questions about aftermarket upgrades and the warranty. The "official" line from the Genius Bar was a little ambiguous about that, but I was sufficiently satisfied in the end. You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Anyway, I love it! However, I have a few gripes, which I am working through: a very small scratch on the cover and slanted keys. I think I can live with both. I'm still deciding on the display. I will calibrate it soon. The battery cover is fine. I really haven't had time to make a full evaluation, but the weekend is finally here! I have already started to integrate it into my work, and I am really pleased.

I also bought an iPod Touch to use in combination with the MacBook. So far, the two are working together well to help me get more organized and productive.

Now, I am looking at buying a wireless mighty mouse, a wireless/wired keyboard, and a larger (non-Apple external display).

Hey! I need to change my signature now!

I use a regular Logitech V270 Bluetooth mouse. I find it preferable to the Apple Mighty Mouse. There is a big thread about wireless mice on this forum, check it out before buying yours. Apple's wireless keyboard is too "narrow," so I use it very little with my iMac. I prefer the wider, wired one because it's just easier to use. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I happen to like the wired mighty mouse on my iMac, but it certainly makes sense to try out other (likely cheaper) options. The only problem I have with the mighty mouse is that the trackball stops working from time to time, but I've learned how to fix that. Logitech V470 Bluetooth - I'll check it (and other options) out. Thanks again.

Um, my bad, I meant the V270. It's no longer made by Logitech but some online sources sell it for $19, so you certainly can't go wrong at that price. ;)

So I'm getting my macbook replaced... I'm not excited about going without my laptop for a whole week or so, but after talking to Apple Care product specialist i decided to go for it. I called to ask about the HDD sounds, and he said they could replace that for me. Then as we spoke I told him about my other issues with the clicking case, loose HDD plastic casing, screen not sitting well on bottom case.... and he said "we need to go ahead and just send you a new one". So i'm going for it.
I know the replacement might have other issues, but at this point i'm willing to take the chance. The prod specialist assured me that he would take care of any other issues with the new one.
Here's to hoping that MB number 5 will be the MAGIC one for me!! :(

We just keep repeating ourselves like 2 old farts!

My husband and I just sit in awe of our networked computing system. We've worked from our home offices for years and keeping everything w
orking was one of my full time jobs. We've owned Macs now for 1 year and 7 months (who's counting) and there's just nothing to do, nothing to tweak or fix. It's nuts. I love it... but it's still a weird feeling. Buying my Alum MB allowed me to give my 5 month old awesome Blackbook to my husband. He uses MobileMe to sync his Blackbook between our iMac and his iPhone. I do the same to sync my Alum and iPhone. I just got a 1T TimeCapsule and everything is just backing up automatically. Also, our wireless printer is easily picked up on the network by all three computers and works flawlessly.

Hardly a night goes by that we don't find ourselves just sitting back staring at everything and marveling at how awesome it all just works. No error messages, no conflicts, no re-booting frozen computers... just beautiful hardware working in perfect harmony. Everyday is Thanksgiving!

I'll second that feeling of awe :) it happens to me too... I'll catch myself sitting there staring at how smooth everything runs...

it sounds like you have a nice system going there!

New guy on the block. I was looking for a notebook that i wanted to keep for at least a couple of years so opted for the 2.4ghz model. I picked up the macbook at futureshop yesterday and have been playing around with it all night. I was able to get the macbook at a student discount for $100 less and an epson printer for $40. As soon as i got home i checked it out for all the issues i have read about on here and the only problem i have is the loose battery cover, no biggie. Other than that no slanted keys, dead pixels or anything. Overall i am really happy about my purchase. The gestures has to be one of the coolest things. My next purchase will be a sleeve that fits the macbook nicely.
