Not only is it so much faster, but Apple calibrated the LCD panel's colors, so it provides even more accurate colors. And the videos this thing takes are just amazing. The voice recorder, battery meter, easy-to-clean screen, speed, and massive capacity all explain why people are still lined up at Apple Stores for one. :D

I loooooooooove mine (bought on day two at the main Apple Store in SF). :)

Stop you're killing me! There's just nothing wrong with my 3G... nothing. I have to wait it out.

Augh... and my husbands 1st Gen iPhone is perfect too. Darn it.

Oh this thing is amazing! Between selling my LG Dare to a friend and buying it thru work, I ended up paying about $80 for it. But it's worth $200 any day!!
It's so much faster than my friends' 3Gs that they're all jealous :D
I honestly believe I would have a hard time going back to a regular cell phone. PS. Your website isn't coming up!

Oh, well... what's speed anyway. I still love watching my little 3G load pages. I still love it. I'm fine. It's fine. We're just fine. I'll just live vicariously through you guy's purchases... I can take it.

And forget it... I had to help my mom make a call on her Nokia fliptop cell thing and I felt like a moron who had never seen a cell phone before. But that's OK... I can't use a traditional track pad either now that I've gotten used to the "glass pad".

P.S. I must have been working on my site. Sorry. Be kind, this is my first attempt.

Thank You...

That's a beautiful site! Congratulations! :)

I couldn't have even attempted to learn how to do this stuff without my UMB. Everything is easier, faster, and way more fun. I know I'm being silly, but sometimes I just look for stuff to do. Anyway, thanks for the compliment. Now if my UMB could teach me how SEO works.

The iMac looks so much bigger compared to my UMB. I'm so glad that I went for the iMac and not some HP stuff suggested by my colleagues.

I also got the VMWare with OEM XP for free but I doubt if I will ever use Windows on my iMac.

Big congrats! Now your UMB has a buddy. I use both at the same time a lot.

SEO is not black magic, despite what the consultants would like you to believe. I'm assuming you're using WordPress, so the first thing to do is to install a simple plug-in like SEO All In One or SEO Platinum. That should point you in the right direction. :)

I upgraded my 2.4GHZ Alubook not too long ago.

It's now running 4GB of ram and its amazing.

I love this thing so much.

I noticed this too, center and seat the lid BEFORE you let the latch arm go down, this worked for me centering the lid dead center. I ran into this problem during my RAM/Hard drive upgrades.

PS does anyone know if i put in a Blu-Ray into this baby it will work? Not sure if the Macbook display and vid card is HDCP or capable of viewing blu-ray discs, just wondering.

Thanks so much for the tip. I actually looked at those plugins but I was clueless what to do. Thanks again.

2008 alu macbook bottom to 2009 macbook bottom?

hello, just dropping in to say hi.

I just picked my new macbook alum 2.0ghz with 160gb with 2gb ram and all i got to say is that this laptop is the BEST laptop i have had ever since day 1 of my laptop fetish haha.

I have went through many PC's and MAC OS laptops but none were as good as this baby.

To name some would be...

ASUS G1S-B2
MSI WIND
Powerbook G4 1.67ghz
HP dv1000
macbook white single core dual 2.0ghz

and some others which i forgot...

anyways, great forum. I have learn so much more about the macbook then I would have by looking through the manual.

peacepeace.

Welcome to the exclusive MacBook club! :)

I love your list of PCs. I also had a whole bunch of them over seven years. It's unquestionably the best laptop I've ever owned too!

I had bought the MacBook few months ago - upgraded the RAM to 4Gb and now I see that Apple is selling a Pro for lesser price - WTH???
So you did not look here before buying. My only two advidces are to: Look at the Buying guide or buy two weeks after an upgrade if Forums are not full of complaints because something does not work as advertised.

Although, I'm now lusting after a MacBook Pro 13, I will wait until Snow Leopard ships to pull the trigger. I'm still bothered by that sealed battery but love the inclusion of the FireWire port. :)
I just replaced my Aluminium 13" MacBook 2.0GHz bought on 10/2008 with a MacBookPro 2.26 GHz 13" * and ordered Leopard upgrade for about 9.99$. So Leopard should not hold you back. But of course buying two Laptops in such a short period of time puts a hole in the wallet, i could sell the MacBook but my wife is using my old iBook G4 800MHz. Maybe it is better to give the 2.0GHz to her (if she promises to keep it in good order), so that she can use TimeMachine and have an overally faster computer.

*I really like my MacBook 2.0 GHz with 4GB of Ram, but i always disliked the lack of Firewire. After i had seen the "new" 13" with FW i couldn't resist to pull the trigger *again*. But this MacBookPro will be mine for a long time, it's perfect.

Everyone still enjoying their MacBooks? :)

I thought I would provide a long-term usage update, given that our units are about 10 months old now.

1. Battery life - as many of you know I was struggling with poor battery life. I used to be able to get good battery life after repairing permissions (about 3-4 hours), but not after a few charge cycles. That appears to finally have been fixed by 10.5.8, which after being installed last night, showed five hours for the very first time on my MacBook. Now I have to tell you that I've also learned that the best way to conserve battery is to not run VMware Fusion, Firefox, or any other software that accesses the Internet, like Skype and Tweetdeck. All of these programs are resource hogs.

2. Maintenance -- There's no question that the aluminum MacBook is the easiest to clean notebook I have ever owned. Just wiping with a damp cloth cleans this puppy. You can even use Windex to clean the screen without worrying, a huge plus.

Again, I can't say enough about this MacBook. Simply the best computer I have ever owned and the software that's available out there for the Mac is the best ever, surpassing even the Windows side in quality and diversity, as far as I'm concerned. And with 103 applications in my applications folder, I know of which I speak. :p

Hope everyone is enjoying their "collector's edition" MacBook. I sure am.

I have been loving it, but have had a few issues (researching and trying to solve them as I am typing this):

1. I have two dead pixels, but it does not bother me at all
2. I have had this speaker popping/clicking noise, but may have solved it
3. Spotlight has been crashing a bit, but may have solved that too
4. Finally, I have noticed that my dock disappears after running dual monitors. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks.

Also, since running 10.5.8 and repairing permissions a few times from the disk, I have also noticed very good battery life once again. My battery health is above 100% with almost 200 cycles on it!!

I don't use multiple monitors so can't help you with that last problem, but I did notice that my MacBook would not connect to the Wi-Fi basestation this morning and had to restart to make it work. Hope that doesn't become a regular thing because I rarely, if ever, remember having that problem before.

I'm still loving my macbook.

The only problem, and this is purely my fault, is a dent on the lid  from it falling one time :eek:

It seems fine, but I can't shake the feeling in the back of my mind that it isn't "perfect" anymore :(

I'm so sorry to hear that! :( But I'm sure you're still getting a lot of value out of using it.

10 months old...

Mine is 10 months old now and still PERFECT. I keep an InCase Hardshell case on it half the time. Right now it's naked. I recently put a Moshi Palm Guard on it. Like it more than I expected, saves on the "wipe-smudges-off" time. Seems to stay clean all the time now. But mechanically, this little machine works flawlessly, always has. Still great battery life too. Still get as excited over it as when it first arrived in the mail!

Remember the Aluminum laptops with the words MacBook are Collector's Edition. So, I think we have to be proud that what we have is a unique and only model of its kind.

HA! One could easily call it Mistake Edition. I love my 2.4 macbook, but "CE" sounds looney.
