I say it's either a new Mini replacement or it's a "Windows" breaker.

I really like the Macenstein "Windows-breaker" proposal. But, my idea of a "Windows-breaker" is software, not hardware.

My obstacle to jumping entirely to Mac is the second class status of the Mac versions of mainstream Windows applications, such is the overwhelming lack of adequate personal finance and small business accounting applications. I've researched, demoed, and/or purchased Mac-versions of Quicken and Quickbooks and other Mac-compatible solutions with disappointing results. I'm now looking at buying Windows and a virtualization solution just to get decent personal finance software (I've been a Quicken nerd since 1990 or so). I've looked at MoneyDance and iBank, and all are promising but not right for me. I'm also looking for small business accounting software (I'm looking at MYOB AccountEdge now.)

So, a "Windows-breaker" for me would either be for Intuit to get a clue and release decent Mac-versions of Quicken and Quickbooks or for Apple to buy Intuit and release something decent on the Mac! Not likely though. :(

I think that would be a great idea. And I like the Air styling, though the computer itself isn't for me.

There is nothing wrong with wedge-shape design. In fact, I would prefer it a lot over the current designs.
Also, an all aluminium MacBook would be nice.

i'm sorry, what's wrong with Quicken (or QuickBooks)? there's a brand new version.

don't get MYOB... if you do in few years you;ll wish you has stuck with Intuit.

anyway, your reason or whatever reason you have (it wasn't given) is silly. ask anyone. ask Mac accountants.

I'm not even convinced by my own idea, but "Brick" could refer to a modular solution of some sort, as in each unit would provide a building block which could function independently or as a part of a larger device.

Say a JBOD array with an OS update to fully enable ZFS to keep dropping discs in or something.

As I say, I don't think that will be the case, but it could be one possibility.

Not sure if this has been said yet (because I'm too lazy and self-centered to read through every response before posting),

But bricks do a damn good job of smashing through windows.

The G5 Brick. Life without windows.

and then i read the responses on this page and apologize for bringing up an old idea.

it most likely has NOTHING to do with the macbook

it most likely has EVERYTHING to do with the mac mini

This is my first ever post on Mac Rumors :) I was reading about the G5, sounds interesting, maybe an Intel Xeon..

If that said in silver 8 with cores below it, that's what it would look like :p -loves the media system how to ipods are built it-

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am proudly to introduce you the new Mac Mini tower today. It is a little bit smaller than a Mac Pro but has the upgradeability of a Mac Pro. It comes with 2.0GHz Core 2 Quad processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM as standard (upgradeable to 8GB of RAM), 250GB HD standard, nVidia GeForce 9600GT as standard with an option of ATI Radeon HD 4870x2. We call this our mid-range "gaming" Mac. It starts at $1499.
We ship it today starting Tuesday.

Sincerely,
Steve Jobs

its most likely just gonna be a brick with the apple logo on it, so you can bash yourself in the head for some of the really bad ideas people came up with. It was Apple's plan alll along.. i kneww it. lol

Zomg a laptop for the female apple demographics, carry that brick around in those dark allies and if someone tries to rob your bag their either fall due to the weight or whack them leaving them on the floor. Brilliant STEVE YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

I believe this is more Mac Mini or new line of Apple think about it Cube now modern will more likely look like a brick.

Could be the tower that people seem to want ...

Would be nice but I've kinda given up on Apple in this regard. For all the things Apple does get, they're really missing the boat on this one. I know so many people using Windows who would jump to a Mac if Apple had an affordable option other than the Mini. Neither the iMac nor the Mini appeal to most PC users, I suspect, because those machines, as good as they are, are just too different from what PC users are accustomed to.

I doubt they'll ever do it, but still, it would account for the inexplicably long wait for updates for the Mini and the Cinema displays as well as a few other recent rumo--

Oh... bugger! There, I'm getting my hopes up again.

Yeah, Apple has all these MultiTouch patents and a 2 year lead (as of 2007).

It is time to step into the future!

Or Apple could make the MacBook an laptop-tablet. Could easily convert it from a laptop to a tablet if need to be. Touch screen too.
