It's all about the brick

The "brick" is a new custom chipset that allows custom audio and video encoding/decoding. It is the first custom chipset that Apple designed directly with their recent acquisition. Apple will be having intel manufacture the new chipset and it will be used in all new MB, MBP, & MBA.

Integrated power supply

Here's my 2 cents. Apologies if someone already thought of this.

An integrated power supply with a retractable cord. You would never need to remember to pack your brick, it's already there. It would add to the portability greatly.

Also, i've seen another laptop, cant remember the brand, where the power brick had USB ports, an ethernet port and a built in wireless hub, so you could have wireless wherever theres a wire.

I'm just not certain that a custom chipset would be any better than ones from Intel. Isn't it better to have both the processor and the chipset from the same company?

EDIT:

Wow, something like that would be really cool. Unfortunately, it would probably take up a lot of space.

why is it called the brick? cuz it is the building unit i guess?

Well.....what if the wireless mouse/trackpad popped out and you could insert your iphone/ipod touch for instant dock and use it as your trackpad? Yummy product integration.

I reckon its some sort of tablet mac that will get its own mac event where MBs and MBPs will be done silently either tomorrow or next week

What are you basing this on?

Not any particular evidence, just the fact that things tend work better together when they're made by one person. That is Apple's entire strategy with hardware and software, after all.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

This would be great. But...it probably wouldn't be long before the cord gets chewed up or fails to retract.

nVidia's rocking new chipsets for AMD processors?

Oh snap!

The insides of a Mac aren't all from one company either...

Remember, we're talking about Apple here. They always do things right, like the MagSafe power cord that frays and catches fire. :D

Apple never made any hardware before. Do you know how many manufactures supply the components/chips of the iPhone? Not less than 5 key suppliers. No one does all these days.

Right. I'm not saying Apple would be wrong in using a custom chipset, but I haven't seen any evidence Apple could make one better than Intel, nor would it seem like Apple to take such a step.

The evidence is that they acquired PA Semi.

It's the reason that Apple bought P.A. Semi. They needed chip designers.

Pick a color...

apple is gonna hype this up soo hard, once the day comes, they are gonna "brick roll" everybody, and when that happens i will point and laugh. lol
