BRICK:
Bloated, Redundant, Incompatible, Crashing Kernel

(so I guess BRICK is a Windows reference after all)

The only thing I can think about is the song "Another Brick in the Wall" from Pink Floyd. They were childrens singing "We don't no education". Perhaps Apple focusses more on school and college? :)

a brick is a stony thing, isn't it?
Well a tablet is in the old days a stony thing.
So, you can say a tablet is a brick...
So, my conclusion a tablet macbook, the macbook tablouch:p

TROLL:

Toe Really Oughta Limit Lameness

Heh. I'm just making guesses that are every bit as valid as the other 20 pages of cruft in this thread. :D I mean really... there is so little to go on, that this thread deserves a bit of mocking.

my two cents... "brick" reminds me of Lego and something that plugs one to another, just the way that apple patent describes it. it would definitely be an interesting concept: a Macbook dockable in your home screen.

a tablet is a brick, so the new macbook could a tablet mac. But then again, will it be a new one, or will it replace the regular macbook?

It's been touched on slightly but I think there could be some truth to the wireless hub concept that has been disussed, however I would offer some tweaks. This "brick" will be an opportunity to move many of the bulky pieces currently in the MacBook (or Pro) to a remote/desktop location would allow for huge space/weight reduction, could increase the storage capacity/performace of the head laptop unit, and would fit with Apple's commitment to simplicity/eliminating wires.

I could really see this happening, probably not for all Macbook models but at least as a new product offering.

I nominate the Powerbook 1400 as the all-time "Brick".

Hey, I still use mine occasionally! It depends on which model you're talking about; yes, the 117 MHz model with no L2 cache was a dog (11th on Low End Mac's list of 12 Road Apples). But the higher speed models, and especially if upgraded to a G3, were quite capable machines and still run OS 9 very well.

May be much more simple

In economics, BRICK often means Brasil-Russia-India-China-Korea and is used to refer to these emerging markets.
Maybe the BRICK keyword just means that Apple whishes to boost macbook sales in these coutries and does not refer to a special product at all ... just a guess !

16:9 screens or even 1024x600??

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed but iTunes8 updated the preferences window so that it worked on a 1024x600 screen (I use an Acer 4211). In iTunes7 the OK/Cancel buttons dissappeared off the bottom of the screen due to the window being too tall. Does this mean Apple are preparing for a smaller screen device?? Or something running at 16:9??

It is a possibility that Apple is moving to 16:9 ratio displays. I think the next MacBooks will be 16:9 ratio.

I reckon its either they are going to make some sort of redesign to the mini and make it like a 'brick' or the power supplies for the notebooks are going to be little 'bricks'. At the moment I don't really know, I am too upset and disappointed.

And then the iphone was born......

Hopefully laptops and the Mac pro remain the bread and butter of their computer lines and take precedence. Though i do beleive the Mac Pro is last on the list of what needs an upgrade.

ermmm here is my last. From the ones that need the upgrde to the ones who dont

1. Mac mini
2. Mac pro
3. Macbook
4. Macbook pro
5. imac
6. Macbook air

So if you take a look at the list. The mac mini needs the upgrade first folowed by the mac pro, then the two flagship laptops the imac and then macbook air last...
