It works! My first key stroke is always recognized.. unfortunately, my screen brightness or expose (F11) is randomly activating.

This took me a while to figure out too. Basically, people vote against fixes (i.e negative) if the fix released isn't the exact fix THEY want.

Or because the "fix" breaks something else.

So, my 17" MBP isn't on the update list. I have one of the original 17" MBPs and it has been going down hill pretty rapidly. I have many of the sleep problems described but thats not even the worst problem. I would love it if Apple got off their asses and fixed the heat issues. 190 degrees when gaming isn't acceptable. Well, of course its not acceptable. The machine locks when it gets that high.

Removing the battery drops the temp about 40 degrees. WHY ?? *40 degrees !?*

Sorry, I know my post has little to do with the topic. I am just pissed that this update won't fix the problems that my machine is having. I am also getting very pissed about Apples response to the heat issues. This is *NOT* normal.

Removing the battery disables on of the CPU cores.

Good to know. Downloading the update now... Thank you Apple :)

PS: Why can someone vote negative to this news?

I never quite understood the "positive-negative" voting feature. Agree with your example, I mean, why would you vote 'negative' that new ipod shuffles or a Macbook Air, or whatever have been released? What's negative about it? Or why are some things positive?

Obviously I realize that there are some things that have pretty clear positive/negatives, but for the most part it doesn't make sense to me... perhaps they had a good function before I joined?

Yay! Worked for me!

Thanks Apple! Fixed it for me! Also, I noticed that this update is not applicable for MacBook Pro 2,1. I have a 3,1, but my dad has a 2,1 and I noticed that it didn't pop up.

Also, it was an EXTREMELY speedy installation compared to other firmware updates. It took less than 10 seconds for me, was very streamlined, and didn't require a reboot at all. I could even do it at school while I was writing something today. There was no interruption of keyboard input after the update.
For those of you that are asking the question, you can delete it out of your /Applications/Utilities folder once it's done. But anyway, I'm using the firmware now and it's working great! :D

Why? I'll tell you why. Becuase the time Apple spent trying to fix this is the time they did not spend working on the new MBP

It boggles the mind that a company sitting on $14+ billion can't afford to go out and hire an few thousand Indians (and I don't mean Navajos) to QC their code :eek:

Anyone know if this fixes the typing lag that affects Mail.app when hitting reply and beginning to compose a response?

It was an issue in early versions of Tiger, was fixed in 10.4.7, and then reintroduced as a bug in 10.4.11.

Everything working great here, I love that I didn't have to restart for this one. :D I'm trying to get an all-time high uptime (my highest has been 19 days on Windows XP, I'm going to try for a month on OS X)

Tiger users experience this issue too, sorry to say.

(U)nfortunately, we do-- I was excited when I pulled up the page, downloaded the update...then, I read the error message and incredulously looked back at the thing: 10.5.2 only. I mean, it's great for people with Leopard...so, enjoy. I guess I should be glad we got all the way to 10.4.11, in defiance of decimal logic?

Hey guys!
Everytime I am running "Software update", even after installing the keyboard firmware update, it is still showing up everytime as a new update??????!!!!!
